Hi, I'm new to mac.
The report above is the problem details given by eclipse when I tried to run "HiWorld".
I can "javac" and "java" the code in Terminal. And in eclipse, I've added JDK1.6.0 which is the default JDK version to the Build Path Libraries.
Googled and SOFed for hours, but I'm still perplexed with my Eclipse on Mac.
I had the same issue with Intellij. I fixed it by changing the path to the JDK.
For me, the issue was cause by Apple changing the JDK's location when my work computer got upgraded to the latest version of Mac OS X. The new path for my JDk looks the same, but doesn't start with "/System".

I have formatted my Mac due to some storage issues. Before this, I used Eclipse in a proper way. Now i have installed the JDK
Then, i have installed Java
Until now everything seems to be correct but when I open the Eclipse installer...
What can I do to fix this? I need to work with this the soon as possible.

Eclipse on macOS will not start with Java 14 installed, this is being tracked in Eclipse bug 561273.
Installing Java 8 as well does not help. You need to remove the Java 14 install. You could use the Java 13.0.2 release instead.
Eclipse have determined that the root cause of this issue is a change in Java 14 which is described in this bug report JDK-8238225. The fix for this should be in Java 14.0.1
Update: Eclipse runs fine with Oracle Java 14.0.1 so the issue has been fixed.
I also asked this question which was closed, that's why I answer what I have found out: Eclipse will not install on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.4, saying the above error message

Deinstalling jdk and install an older one wouldn't help on its own because Eclipse is refusing to install in the first place (as mentioned above). What I have done:
i´ve installed an JDK with boost (you can try several, mine worked with Version 13)
I edited the installer:
Download the dmg file
convert the dmg-file with "hdiutil convert /dev/disk3s1 -format UDRW -o devimage"
mount the converted dmg-file with: "hdiutil attach -owners on devimage.dmg -shadow"
Edit the /Volumes/Eclipse/Eclipse.app/Contents/Info.plist: there is a section which is commented and there you can try the jdk version. You have to give the full path to the java executable, for example:
<string>-vm</string><string>/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk-13.0.2.jdk/Contents/Home/bin/java</string>
Then my eclipse started from the (already) mounted Eclipse image without complaining
I had the same issue myself a while back. In your Eclipsepedia it provided an example of what the eclipse.ini file looks like when your trying to specify a JVM. So just change the eclipse.ini file and then make sure that you have all of the correct documents in that path to match the example.
I have windows 7 64 bit OS in which I used to work with eclipse Juno Service Release2 version and Oracle JDK 1.7. Now as per my new project requirements I had to change my JDK from Oracle JDK to OpenJDK 1.7. I have un-installed all the other jdk's from my machine and installed OpenJDK1.7(64 bit version). Now I am facing issues with eclipse, I am able to open eclipse IDE but if I perform any operations like opening an existing project or trying to run any programs/project it is getting crashed or getting hanged. I have to end the process from the taskbar and try again and again. Below is the popup screen that I am getting after eclipse crashes.
Can some one tell me how to resolve this issue? I have seen some blogs saying there is a bug with eclise and OpenJDK with Ubuntu and mac OS but no issues reported for windows. So if there is way to fix this issue please let me know (or) please suggest any eclipse version the is compatible with OpenJDK1.7 and windows7.
Here is my version of solution to my issue which was mentioned above.
Installed Oracle JDK1.7 on my system and did not set the path for this. I have updated the eclipse.ini file with (found in eclipse root directory)
-vm
C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0_79/bin/javaw.exe parameter. so that Eclipse starts with Oracle jdk
and in
Eclipse->Windows->Preferences window
under Java->Installed JREs->Add(under Installed JREs)
added a new entry to point out the OpenJDK1.7 version so that my project uses OpenJDK version. This solved unusual crashing of Eclipse
I have been using Spring STS 3.7.2 for a few months on my Mac laptop (Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5). But suddenly the STS IDE is not starting up. I suspect that one of the automatic OS update may have changed something, since I noticed that I don't see java any more on my path setting.
I manually added the following entries to my .bash_profile and updated using source command:
export PATH=$PATH:/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_65.jdk/Contents/Home/jre/bin
export JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_65.jdk/Contents/Home
But STS stubbornly not working. It keeps giving me the error message in a dialog box:
A java runtime environment (JRE) or Java development kit (JDK) must
be available in order to run STS. No Java virtual machine was found
after searching ....
I am confused. I am able to invoke java from any terminal window, as well as JAVA_HOME environment variable is set.
Any ideas what may be going on?
After quite a bit of searching online, I figured out the problem, and resolved it for myself. It basically boils down to JDK upgrade to versions beyond 1.6.

Here are the steps:
Revert back to JDK 1.6: Download and install JDK 1.6 from this Apple site: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US
Change the PATH variable to point to the 'bin' directory of where JDK is installed. On my Mac, it was installed at: /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home/bin
Go to the STS application installed directory and run the command "open -a STS.app". This will open the STS IDE successfully.
Exit STS.
Now, if you want to use Java 8, then change the PATH variable to the Java 8 directory. On my Mac, it was at: /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_65.jdk/Contents/Home/bin
Launch the STS app again, and voila!, the problem solved.
I recently installed Netbeans 7.2 beta and it worked fine. Then I installed Netbeans 7.2 final release on top of beta and during the installation, Netbeans 7.1 and Netbeans 7.12 were there. Now when I launch Netbeans, it does not go beyond "loading modules" stage. Simply the Netbeans screen disappear few seconds after the launch. Then I did the following.
Uninstalled all the Netbeans versions and re-installed Netbeans 7.2
Deleted AppData/Netbeans folder
Deleted User/.nbi folder
Searched the registry and deleted Netbeans related entries. (But only one entry was found)
Deleted Netbeans Folder in Program Files folder.
Uninstalled and Re-installed in a separate drive.
Uninstalled and Re-installed under another user account.
None of the above worked, the only thing I did not try was to re-install the Windows XP operating system.
It there any option to try before re-installing the operating system?
I was having the same problem .... with netbeans 7.2 ,go to user/appdata/roaming/7.2/modules/ and delete all the jar files except docs,ext,locale folders ... and start the ide again... basically the problem betides when u update the ide after update when u start the ide it stuck to the loading module phase.
First of all, you need to check proper version of JDK is installed.
Netbeans 7.2 requires JDK 1.7, not 1.8.
You can check {Netbeans Install Path}/etc/netbeans.conf. There find netbeans_jdkhome and its value. Make sure you install JDK1.7 and this line netbeans_jdkhome="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_25" for example.
If not, change the value to proper installation path.
That's some stability issue with NetBeans 7.2
Just Kill and Restart the IDE and it should be fine.
Make sure that right JDK directory chosen in the installation wizard if you not sure you can change it from
C:\Program Files\NetBeans {netbeans version}\etc
you will see a file which is
netbeans.conf
edit it(I am using Notepad++ for that)
At the bottom of the file, you will see a line
netbeans_jdkhome="C:\Program Files\Java\{jdk directory you want}"
make sure it is valid JDK and it is JDK, not JRE
I had the same problem, make sure you have the required JDK version configured during the installation process.
First tried everything to no avail, finally I had to uninstall NetBeans 7, then install NetBeans 8, which also aligned with my JDK 8. This resolved the issue for me. Hope this helps others.
Ah, finally this worked with me on version 11.3, delete this folder, then run the program again
C:\Users\Dell\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans
here my main username is Dell, yours can be different ofcourse
I found out in my Windows installation of Apache Netbeans 12.4, the file 'tctracker.properties' in 'C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\12.4\config\Preferences\org\netbeans\core\windows' was filled with null values. I fixed the issue with letting netbeans generate a new file by moving this '12.4' directory to somewhere else on the disk, starting Netbeans, letting it generate a new 'tctracker.properties'-file, stop it, replace the corrupt file in with this newly generated file and put the '12.4' directory back in place.

The variable JAVA_HOME is not required by Eclipse. If your Java installation does not put the Java executables in the PATH, you should add those manually.
A faster way to have your Eclipse up and running consists in modifying the eclipse.ini and using the -vm option.

I had the same problem. For me, I needed the JDK. So I had to install the JDK. It should match the build platform that is, 64bit vs. 32bit windows. After that, I removed, the -vm line from the eclipse.ini file (the suggested fix). It was giving me the "Can't create virtual machine" error. The current release of JDK is version, 7 whereas the Android Developers Toolkit version of eclipse is currently based on JDK 6. But it seems to work. Eclipse came up and is functional. Haven't actually written a program yet.
Go to eclipse folder (where eclipse is installed) and open eclipse.ini file in your editor and add the following code after openFile tag.
-vm C:\Program Files\JDK6\bin\javaw.exe
That's all.
I had a similar problem, since our Java and JDK is consistently updated by our service desk, including uninstalling old JDKs. They take care of the PATH for us, but then the JRE that Eclipse was used to "seeing" was gone. So, the thing that has worked best for me is to modify the shortcut's "target" from:
"C:\Program Files\Eclipse\Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers\eclipse.exe"
to
"C:\Program Files\Eclipse\Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers\eclipse.exe" -vm "C:\Program Files\Java\<jdkver>\jre\bin\javaw.exe"
That will point Eclipse toward to the JRE in the JDK you want it to use, and then you can update that shortcut when your JDK updates.
This is on Windows 64bit, obviously.
It can also happen on mismatch of JAVA and Eclipse bit version.
for eg:
If in your System java is 32 bit and you are trying to install Eclipse of 64 bit then the same situation might occur.
Because Eclipse will look Java in Program Files while at the same time Java may be present in Program Files (x86).
So in this case eclipse will not get java and throw the same error.
While installing eclipse, Jre missing :
I solved my error as follows:-
This error may comes if you have 2 program files folder in your system.
"Program files" &
"Program files x86".
Please install JDK&JRE in the "Program files" folder.
Hope your jre missing error get solved.
this works for me:
open eclipse.ini file in your editor and add the line: -vm C:\Program Files\JDK11\bin\javaw.exe
update system PATH with correct JDK path.
