Perl Session management - perl

I am using CGI::Session for session management in my Perl web application. I am able to
create a session using the file session driver but I am unable to get the existing session and unable to access stored parameters of session.
I am trying to get existing session but it's creating new one
and query string $CGISESSID both are same but $session here I am getting was different
it's a totally new one so I am unable to get the stored parameters from session.
Please help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks,
Krishna

If you are getting new session at each request, as others pointed out, you are not sending session id in the cookie. If you are using CGI.pm to handle your HTTP header, do this:
print $q->header(-cookie => $session->cookie);
If you are using CGI::Application for your Application framework, do this inside the setup() or cgiapp_init() (if you have it)
$self->header_add(-cookie => $session->cookie);
Or, you can use CGI::Session's own header(), which by default, uses' CGI::header method:
print $session->header()
Using CGI::Session's utilities (such as cookie and/or header) are recommended since they honor expiration settings for the cookie.

Are you doing
print $session->header()
before printing the html content?

.HttpContext.User is null after successful login from SAML Identity Provider?

Trying to retrofit an old webforms application.
Got my configuration working so that it's prompting for login and successfully redirecting back to the application. The folks that manage the IP can see the response is generated.
However in the callback to my application the User is null. I'm told if it's configured correctly it should be populated.
We have a custom IHttpModule and that is where I can see getting hit with the call to /Saml2/Acs with the User not populated. I think this may be expected as the handler for that is supposed to populate the User, I think? However the following call (the returnUrl configured in sustainsys.Saml2) still has no User and I don't see any sort of error or anything.
Anyone with experience have an idea how to debug this?
The call to /Saml2/Acs should be taken care of by the Sustainsys.Saml2.HttpModule. It will process the response and then call the SessionAuthenticationModule to set a cookie that preservers the User across calls.
To get some more information about what's happening in the library, you can assign an implementation of ILoggerAdapter to Sustainsys.Saml2.Configuration.Options.FromConfiguration.SPOPtions.Logger to get some logging output from the library.
My issue turned out to be that I had another authentication module loaded before SessionAuthenticationModule and Saml2AuthenticationModule in the web config.
The comment in the example was
Add these modules below any existing. The SessionAuthenticatioModule
must be loaded before the Saml2AuthenticationModule
However in my case with I had another authentication module involved that needed to go last.

How to use new enhanced sessions in Parse with users created on cloud code?

I was trying out the new enhanced revocable sessions in Parse on my Android app. It works well when logging in or signing up via email password or facebook but doesn't work well for custom authentication, e.g. google+.
I'm currently logging in the user using the cloud code which also creates the new user when signing up. This does not create a new Session object, that means the new enhanced sessions are not used and it still uses the legacy sessions.
I pass the session token back to client where using the become method the user logs in but it's the legacy sessions.
This feels like the feature is not complete but I would really like to move to the new enhanced sessions with my app. Has anyone worked with them yet? Are there any workarounds using the REST API or by creating the sessions manually and handling them manually? I looked into the JS API but it says it's only read only.
Here's the Blog post on Enhanced Sessions.
Where should I go next?
Yes, I found a solution but it's a workaround, works for my case because I don't support signing up with user/password.
Basically, the solution (cloud code) in semi pseudo-code is:
Fetch the user with master key
Check if user.getSessionToken() has value
if it has, return the session token and do a user.become() in the client as usual
if it's not, here the workaround, do the following:
yourPreviousPromiseInOrderToChainThem.then(function(user)
password = new Buffer(24);
_.times(24, function(i) {
password.set(i, _.random(0, 255));
});
password = password.toString('base64')
user.setPassword(password);
return user.save();
}).then(function(user) {
return Parse.User.logIn(user.get('username'), password)
}).then(function(user) {
var sessionToken = user.getSessionToken();
// Return the session token to the client as you've been doing with legacy sessions
})
That means, I'm changing the user password each time in order to make a remote login and, of course, I know thist can't be applied to all cases, it's enough for app because I don't support login with user/password (only third party logins) but I understand that maybe it's not for all cases.
I got the idea from this official Parse example.
I don't like this solution because I think is not a workaround, it's a mega hack but I think there is no other way to do it currently (either Parse.com or Parse-Server)
If you find other workaround, please, share it :)

Magento post from controller

Lately I've been using cURL to post data back from a custom Magento controller to a custom page on the same website.
However, the way I do it somehow breaks Magento's log in data. So I've tried another way. Magento has cURL functionality built into it (Varien_Http_Adapter_Curl).
I've tried to Post through this, but so far it has been over my head and documentation on the web is fairly sparse. I need help with this. I've got a string with all the $_POST data ready to go. Please can someone tell me how to send it?
This:
$url="<URL>";
$curl = new Varien_Http_Adapter_Curl;
$curl->setConfig(array('timeout' => 15));
$curl->write(Zend_Http_Client::POST,$url, '1.1', array(), $poststring);
$result = $curl->read();
$curl->close();
...isn't sending data .
Edit:
I've tried the non-Magento cURL, but didn't know about session Data. I still have no Idea how to send session data, either.
Now, I've tried session variables, but the result is that I can set and extract data on one page, but when changing pages the data is lost. So, this can't be used currently between the controller and view.
better you can use the magento sessions
http://magento-rohan.blogspot.in/2012/03/magento-get-set-unset-session.html
here is this how to use it
You need to give us more information about what are you trying to achieve. Basically you need to tell us where are you sending POST request to? Perhaps another Magento instance or even same Magento website? Are you expecting user to have same session it is having now? Once you give us more info I will edit my answer. For now I will try to guess what is bothering you based on the input you gave.
When you are submitting POST request with curl from server side, that means that user is no longer interacting with the "page" you are trying to submit post request to.
If user is not interacting with it, that means it is not sending user session information.
Basically it looks like this:
Normally
Eric ->(Request with session info)-> Server (Oh it's you Eric, here is
the response just for you)
What are you trying to do
Eric ->(Request with session info)-> Server ->(Request without session
info)-> Server (This server doesn't know about Eric)
So to implement this correctly, if I am good at assuming what is your problem, just pass session information to the second server along with your request.
I will add more info if you tell me I am on the good track of understanding your problem.
---UPDATE---
You didn't explain your situation well. I am telling you this because your whole approach with the cURL may be bad decision from the start. For example, if you are trying to execute code in the same Magento codebase and that code is trapped inside some controller, perhaps you can refactor your code and encapsulate that logic inside some model and execute it directly.
But here is the example of passing session information over curl in plain php:
$strCookie = 'PHPSESSID=' . $_COOKIE['PHPSESSID'] . '; path=/';
curl_setopt( $curl, CURLOPT_COOKIE, $strCookie );
Cookie should perhaps be called "frontend" in Magento. And I checked Varien_Http_Adapter_Curl it doesn't have any method for seting CURLOPT_COOKIE option so I suggest you go with plain curl setup. You also have an option to extend adapter and add that option by your self. Just override "_applyConfig" method.

Perl Catalyst; configuring session expire time and flash behaviour

I just discovered that when I configure the session plugin of a Catalyst app (Catalyst::Plugin::Session) to expire, it screws with the flash data. More specifically, I'm finding that flash data no longer carries over with a new request.
Does this sound normal? How might I cope with this?
Perfectly normal. The whole point of sessions is to be able to associated data from one request with data in another request. When you let the session for some request expire, you are saying that that request's data shouldn't have anything to do with any future request.
More specifically, the flash data is a part of the session data -- see the _save_flash method in the Catalyst/Plugin/Session.pm file, for instance. Also see the big warning for the delete_session method:
NOTE: This method will also delete your flash data.
How to cope with it? You need to persist data from a request using any scheme other than the Session plugin. Without knowing more about your app, what data you are trying to persist, and how you will associate data from an old session with a new request, I couldn't begin to make a more specific recommendation than that.
When configuring the session for example with a database backend you'll have to add flash_to_stash as an option:
<session>
dbi_dbh DB
dbi_table sessions
dbi_id_field id
dbi_data_field session_data
dbi_expires_field expires
flash_to_stash 1
expires 3600
</session>

Zend_Session_Namespace from non-Zend PHP

I need to integrate my no-framework code with my brand new Zend Application. But they need to share a session. The problem I am facing is - when I am setting the session variables from the non-zend php using
$_SESSION['MyApp']['user']=$user;
I cant access the session from the Zend Application, i tried both -
print_r($_SESSION['MyApp']['user']);
and
$myAppSession = new Zend_Session_Namespace('MyApp');
print_r($myAppSession->user);
Doesn't work. Info - I have
resources.session.name = "MyApp"
in my bootstrap ini file.
Zend_Session_Namespace is just a wrapper for $_SESSION so this should be straightforward. When you say it doesn't work, is the $_SESSION array empty? If so, make sure you are creating the sessions in the same way (i.e. using the same session storage, cookie name etc.).
You're confusing session name with ZF session namespaces.
The session name refers to the value stored in the session cookie and does not have any effect on the actual contents of $_SESSION.
For your apps to share a session, they both need to set the same name using session_name() or the session.name php.ini directive.
I found a way out, Zend Session has a different session id than normal PHP sessions, so what I did was to send the session id from zend with the request and start the session with that session id -
if(isset($_REQUEST['sess_id'])) {
$sess_id = $_REQUEST['sess_id'];
}
session_id($sess_id);
session_start();
Its not beautiful code, but it works.
