I'm a newbie in HTML5 programming & not sure what i face currently is a bug or expected feature!
While playing a video (For Eg, in youtube.com or sublimevideo.net link) in a web browser the control bar appears & also it plays in the same page. But While playing the same in an iphone, it plays in iphone's default player but not in the same page. Is this the normal behaviour of iPhone? If yes, can anyone please send me a link which provides more insight on this?
Thanks in advance for clarifying & letting me know!!
On the iPhone (and on iPod touch), when a video plays, it plays in full screen, no matter what. Therefore, it's safe to say that this is normal behaviour.
If you read the first paragraph of this webpage, it should pretty much echo out what I just stated.
Hope it helps! :)

I want to make an application to stream out a UIVIEW. So it can be watch from a webplayer for example Flash or HTML 5. But I am really lost how to start. Any Idea would be appreciated.
I've also been working on such a project recently and I found the help of these websites very useful: http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/getusermedia/intro/, http://davidwalsh.name/browser-camera, or https://simpl.info/getusermedia/sources/
It can be done via HTML5 and Javascript and it's relatively easy to do.
Hope they help!
EDIT: Maybe I misinterpreted your question. Do you want to stream the camera from the iPhone, or do you want to stream the screen of the iPhone?
I am displaying the camera data (video) on the preview layer. Now I want to record the video and store it in a local file and access it to play on the screen.
I had seen some websites that it is possible with AVAssertWriter and AVAssertReader. Its very difficult for me to understand. Can any one advice me in a clearcut manner or with any sample code.
Anyone's help will be much appreciated.
Thanks to all,
Monish.
I have been doing some research into what is possible, as far as I can tell
Autoplay
Possible to autostart videos on early versions of IOS http://www.codeblog.co/getting-autoplay-working-on-ios/ although this no longer works on current version (exact version it stopped working I don't know). Behaviour seems to be the same on both the iPad and iPhone?
Playing video in page
On the iPhone videos always pop out to player, its not possible to play in page.
However is possible to play videos in page on the iPad - have tried out the videos on here and they do play inline.

Playing as intro video
May be able to do an enter now button for the site with below code to trigger
<input type="button" value="Play" onClick="document.myMovie.play()">
https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/AudioVideo/Conceptual/Using_HTML5_Audio_Video/Device-SpecificConsiderations/Device-SpecificConsiderations.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40009523-CH5-SW10
Could then on iPad make this take the full screen in page in website and use js to detect when the video finishes. Am thinking on iPhone may not be possible to detect when video finishes?
Can anyone clarify what is possible?
As much as I know intro video aren't too popular, this is a requirement for the site.
Automatic play is not possible on iOS as fas sa I'm aware. They removed support on purpose to stop people from doing it.
Any playback now requires the user to actually specify for the video to play, so providing a button to play it should be fine?
Can't you keep your video in the bundle and play it with MPMovieePlayer. Then you won't need to autoplay the video, the video will be played autometically itself. As I do the same thing.
this might sound silly but since i am new to iPhone i wanted to ask this question... :P
Where is the UIWebView best used? I mean which type of application?
Could i use that if i wanted to display a video in some part of the screen rather than fullscreen which MPmediaPlayer is really good at?
Thanks :)
The only places I have seen UIWebView really used in a way that is right is for help pages. Developers will make this page call a FAQ page hosted on their servers so that they can change the contents frequently without going back to Apple for review.
I'm new to programming in Objective-c and the iPhone but I am working on an app to teach myself. I have been trying to figure out how to record sounds on the iPhone. Apple provides excellent documentation for recording from the microphone with AVAudioRecorder but I want to record sounds made by my app, or even just record sounds when buttons are pressed (button is pressed, certain audio gets recorded).
I have no clue how to do this and can't seem to find anything that would help me along this path, only microphone stuff.
Can anyone share ideas or code that would make this possible?
Thanks
Once you move beyond the convenience classes like AVAudioRecorder, you've got a lot of studying to do.

Core Audio Overview
Audio programming is a very large and complex subject. If you want to customize, be prepared to spend some time learning it.
I've made a sample app that records sounds/audio and has a playback. Hope this helps! https://github.com/casspangell/AudioMic
