Can I have app name on my app icon in iphone
Will it cause rejection from app stor
Please guide as I developed my first iphone app.
Yes, you can have the app name on your app icon.
No, it will not cause rejection.
Next time, do some reading http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/userexperience/conceptual/mobilehig/IconsImages/IconsImages.html and the answer above's
I do not think that would create any issue.. make sure your app icon meets requirement here. Icons and Sizes for iPhone and iPad

friends, I am new to Iphone development, I am creating a simple analog clock, infact I have already created one ( i am basically an Android Developer - created same as widget for android too), Iphone does not seem to support widgets, but I was wondering if it is possible to create a lock screen app or something (i.e. when screen locks iphone shows a clock) is it possible that my clock replace the iphone one, any ideas , thanks in advance
It is impossible to replace the lock screen of iOS devices with a custom one. iOS apps are not allowed to "lock" the system by any means. Can't avoid the user pressing the home button.
No it is not possible. There is no public API for the lock screen.
Although you may be able to find a way to accomplish your goal in development, it will almost assuredly be rejected by Apple. Here is an excerpt from the App Store Review Guidelines
10.4 Apps that create alternate desktop/home screen environments or simulate multi-app widget experiences will be rejected
It is 100% possible but not approved by Apple. You can develop an app but will never be part of the app store... You can however use it for personal use or share it through a Cydia repo (jailbroken devices). But it is possible.
Not sure with all of you, although i agree a long time ago.. I Just browsing the app store and found an application that can change the way user unlock the iphone after it lock.. Here's the app "Slide your phone"
I can read that changing the app icon programmatically at runtime is not possible, at least since iOS 3.0.
But... I regulary can see on "App" websites apps that can put icons on the springboard. The first I remember is that kind of app that you give a friend's picture from your album, and it creates an icon so you can call him just clicking on that icon:

http://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/tap4music/id365578914?mt=8
So I guess, is it still impossible to change the app icon programmatically at runtime?
Update
Apple have changed this, you can do this now: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uiapplication/2806818-setalternateiconname
Original Answer
What you're thinking of here are WebClips, which are basically shortcuts to websites on the home screen. An actual application cannot change it's icon at runtime, as it's defined in the static Info.plist file.
The only exception to this rule is Newsstand applications.
This is now possible in iOS 10.3 using the UIApplication.setAlternateIconName(_:completionHandler:) API.
See my answer to this question: https://stackoverflow.com/a/44966454/233602
Changing your actual icon (other than, e.g, badging) would require changing the app bundle. I'm pretty sure that you don't have write access to the bundle, and in any event this should change the code signature, causing the OS to prevent launching.
So, no. Apps can put links to web sites, but not change their own app.
Is there a URL I can launch from the app that will take the user to the "Updates" tab in the AppStore application on an iOS device?
I'm not sure if it's possible to link directly to an update. I've found once an advice to replace "viewSoftware" to "viewSoftwareUpdate" on:
https://devforums.apple.com/message/139548#139548
but since link for "phobos" is no longer used it might not work any more
Here's the one we use for our apps (where "id" is the id for your app):
itms-apps://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftwareUpdate?id=438596432&mt=8
It mostly works. On an iPhone & iPod it goes right to the Update screen. On an iPad it goes to the store and shows an obscure error message. I filed that as a bug with Apple a few months ago.
I just got my iPhone game up in the app store, but I don't like the gloss effect on the large icon in the app store. I have two questions:
1.) Is it possible to change your large icon without resubmitting a binary? In iTunes Connect there is no upload files button under the large icon like there is for your screen shoots.
2.) How do I remove the gloss effect on the large icon? I have "Icon already includes gloss effects" already set to yes in my info.plist, this fixed the installed icon but not the large icon.
Thanks in advance.
If you want to look at the icon:

1) No, you can't! You need to resubmit the app.
2) You have changed correct preference. After resubmission it will take effect also in the App Store.
No you cannot change the size of icon. iPhone Application icon size is specified in Apple Developer Document
Question 1. has already been answered, sadly it's no.
Question 2 is probably due to a bug on Apple's side, so if I were you I would ask them using the contact form in iTunes Connect. I did this for a similar bug that occurred in the past and it was eventually fixed by Apple without requiring re-uploading apps, see "Prerendered Icon Flag: true" in submitted iPhone app binary details, but icon shown with glossy effect in store
I am new to iPhone programming.
I created an application in Xcode. I want to change the application name and icon. However I can change the application name (which is appeared below the icon of application in iPhone) and icon from plist.
I want to ask that whether there are any other method or trick which i can use to change the icon and application name.
My project requirement is that end user want to change application name and icon frequently
As far as I know there is absolutely no way for the end user to change the application name or icon of applicaitons distributed via the App Store. I believe it would be possible to do this on jailbroken phones, but I'm not an expert in that area.
Jay is correct. You need to specify an icon and name for your app in the info.plist file. Those values can't be changed dynamically. If you want to change the name or the icon, you would need to fix them in xcode and submit an update to Apple for approval.

I disagree with the above answers.
Please go take a look at the free app on Itune, "OneTap" (or "onetap")
you will see that you can create a dynamicly new app with your own icon image.
There's definitely an app in cydia to accomplish this but you must jailbreak your iPhone or iPod touch
