I followed the directions at https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments/ to add a comment box to my Dreamweaver template and it worked - but all comments made show up on all pages, no matter which page the comment was actually made on. Plus, when it posts to a user's profile, it just links to "beachpaper.com." How do I tell the code that I don't just want a comment box for the domain URL - I want it to automatically know what page it's on and make a comment box that's independent from the others on the site? Is there anyway to do this without manually changing the code on each page?

I used to have the Facebook Comments extension on my wiki but it didn't work very well and I couldn't moderate it so yesterday I switched to disqus. With Disqus, I need to add tags to every page, while the FB comments were added automatically everywhere.
How do I make the disqus render on every page like the FB plugin did?
The alien's reply worked: Did you see this Disqus extension? It adds the Disqus comment box to every page.
On my website, I just added links to discuss posts on Facebook; you can see such a link at http://jonathanscorner.com/steel/ . The link redirects to https://www.facebook.com/pages/CJS-Hayward/9506801167, which lets people post but is initially empty.
I would like, if possible, to create a link that prepopulates the text of the comment to include the title and URL on my site. So someone who clicked on that link would have a posting that is prepopulated, '''I just finished "Within the Steel Orb" at http://JonathansCorner.com/steel/. '''
Is there some URL parameter I can use ('''...?text=I%20just%20finished...''') or other interface to prepopulate a comment in a JavaScript-generated link?
Thanks,
Short answer, you can't. Even with the feed dialog you can't prepopulate the comment area with some pre-defined text. What you can do is, using the feed dialog making people write their comments, and the connection of that feed redirects to your website.
The only problem is that this feed dialog would appear on the users feed an not on your page wall.
Another way, and this is the best option in my opinion, add the comments social plugin to your site, this way people would discuss that article on your page and every time they comment using this social plugin, the comments would appear on their facebook wall making their friends curious about that and maybe visit your site.
You can read more about that here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments/
I want to build custom Facebook comments box for that I have done lots of R&D but I am stuck on how will I post comments against the url of different pages of my website.
I want the similar functionality which Facebook's comment box plugin provides like I will drop my custom Facebook comments box on my page template and it will work for all the pages which are inheriting from that template. Which means each dynamic page will have its own commenting box depending on its url.
It would be better if anyone provide me steps to achieve this functionality. I have gone through the Facebook developers forum and have learn commenting against the ID of Objects but I want to start comment box from page Url as Facebook's comments box takes href of the page.
My test work:
When I have posted comments through Facebook comment box plugin against url and get all of them using Graph api so all comments are listing successfully.
but when I try to post the comments against the mentioned url using graph api so I get the exception here.

I need answers of following questions.
How will I start commenting against page's url.
My custom commenting box template are shown below

Im using Facebook's like button plugin on my own website product pages, also using opengraph tags
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/
Everything seems to work fine, the problem is when people 'like' a product, the comment box shows up but if they leave it empty only single line is posted on their feed like:
Jon Doe has liked "title here".
But when they write that comment when they click Like or even post the the link manually all the image, text, description information is correctly displayed.
Anyone knows how to fix this?
Well, that’s the basic difference between a like and a share. Since Facebook has merged these to functionalities into one social plugin, it’s up to the user which action he takes.
The old share button has been deprecated, so not much use in implementing it now, because even if it’s still possible(?) it will stop working eventually.
If you want shares instead of likes, your one alternative IMHO is implementing the Feed Dialog on your site, triggered by a click on a button of you own making.
I've added facebook comments to my website using the following steps:
I created a new app herehttps://developers.facebook.com/apps/
In the auth dialog page for the app, I set 'default activity privacy' to 'Public'
I got the code for the comments box here https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments/
I used the HTML5 version of the code and added it to my site in the two places specified - right after the body tag and where I want the comments to appear.
I then opened the comments moderation tool for my new app.
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/comments?view=recent_comments
I clicked on 'Settings' and turned on 'Make every post public by default'
I also listed myself as a moderator.
I also added
<meta property="fb:app_id" content="{YOUR_APPLICATION_ID}">
inside the head tags for the page.
When I go to my site - the comments box appears to work ok. I can make a comment, but I can only see comments made by me. I cannot see comments made by people I am not friends with. How do I fix this problem? I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks
Every comment you leave on a facebook-comments driven web site is public, the same way it is on a fan page. Even a non facebook member can leave a comment.
I am looking for a way to turn it off and get the same permissions you have on your facebook wall. Currently, everybody who has the link can see the page content and all previous comments.
Had the same issue and figured out that Facebook grabs urls differently for displaying and submiting comments.
If the url you're providing him in data-href (e.g. short url) is different than the window.location url (url in address bar), then it's probably the case.
P.S. I know that the question is from 2011, but someone else may show up with the same problem.
