Chained combos in register form Joomla 2.5 - forms

Good morning.
I'm using joomla 2.5, I need add extra fields to my user form registration, I use user-profile plugin and I add 2 extra fields SQL type, at this point all is ok, but I need, that this fields work like chained combo i.e: when I select a Departamento (Department) I need the field Municipio (Municipalitie) just display the Municipalities that belonging to that department.
Thanks

Since you didn't specify in which language you wanted this done in. There's a jquery plugin you could use by Mike Tuupola which does just this. You might want to check it out.

TYPO3 / Formhandler / Make formhandler records editable?

Is it possible to make formhandler records editable and even show and sort by
- lets say - name and lastname in TYPO3 BE?
Thanks in advance.
I lately made a dummy extbase extension for a customer. Formhandler stores its data in these tables. Thus they are accessible as usual in the backend. They are sortable and editable and anything you like.
Have a look at http://typo3blogger.de/newsletteranmeldung-mit-formhandler-turchen-14/ There I have created an example how to create records in TYPO3 with formhandler and Finisher_DB. In newer versions please use Finisher\DB
Here are all properties of the Finisher\DB of formhandler:
http://www.typo3-formhandler.com/documentation/finisher/finisherdb/
Use ifIsEmpty to fill up fields with a default value. F.e. if you don't have this field in your form.
at http://pi-phi.de/formhandler.html I documented (in german) how I used formhandler to generate tt_news records with categories.
the tt_news records needs a confirmation of an admin, so the admin gets a mail

Manual sorting of sys_category

On my TYPO3 7 site, i'm not able to choose an order to the categories of a page or a news (plugin tx_news). I can only choose what categories that page or news have, using the checkboxes to select them.
Is there any configuration for that?
Alternatively, I may override these fields with my own TCA, but have no ideas on how to get a sorting tree of categories. Any hint?
On my sites running previous TYPO3 versions with tt_news plugin, its category tree allows to change the sorting after selecting the categories.
I coudn't find anything about it on the "select" documentation (https://docs.typo3.org/typo3cms/TCAReference/Reference/Columns/Select/Index.html). Looks like MM relations doesn't support sorting.
Does anyone knows how to get it?
Make sure you have the "extended view" checked at the end of the page. You can then sort the sys_category-entries using the up/down arrows.
If you need to sort your categories per item and not globally then a default MM relation will not work as it doesn't support sorting. You're on the right track. Override or extend the TCA, don't specify a MM relation and don't use the tree view rendering. Use a standard select like you would select pages. This should store the values as a comma-list string in the database and so represent the sorting like you would see it the backend.

can i add multiple value in field ? (please see an image)

I need to do the stock management website with 2 Content type Supplier and Product. First I add contents in Supplier content type. Then I add node reference field in Product content type and call it supplier and make it multiple value. it's looks good, i can select suppliers and save it. but in my concept i need to check which supplier sale this product and how price. so i need to add suppliers and price in the same form like my image.
the propose of this form, user can check how price of each supplier for this product and they can choose the lowest price for purchase in the next process.
Guys, did you have the idea that i can do like this ?
Based on your image attached, I'd assume you have Druapl 7.
You can do this by installing Field Collection module. To get the table-input, install Field Collection Table.
Core Fields can have multiple instances of the same field. But you can't group them and make the whole group a multi-instance group.
Drupal 6 required CCK module to have fields, and there was a MultiGroup module (CCK 3branch which never had a stable release) that does the similar for Drupal 6.
Although OP will not need this, dear Googler if you are looking for a simple table with text fields, try TableField module

How to make a field "autocomplete"?

I can't figure out how to make a field autocomplete in ATK.
I guess it has something to do with the type "reference" but still not sure.
Suppose I'm looking for a client name in a "line" type field, then the autocomplete should list me all/topXX matching names.
Scenario 1:
Once I hit [Enter] I'd need all that row from DB loaded in a form fields so I can edit the record.
I guess this requires getting the client ID first then posting to an "edit" page then calling "loadData()" method for that ID and populate fields.
Scenario 2:
I'm assignig a job request to a client. First I find the client then I could store its ID in a hidden field to be posted then.
Any advice?
TIA
I would suggest you to go with 2 forms. First form with a single field, and when field is changed it automatically reloads second form including the parameter.
You will also need an autocomplete field. Autocomplete is somewhat buggy in 4.0, but it have been polished up in 4.1 by using a technique in http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/#combobox
For use with models and controllers and also dropdown, example is here:
http://codepad.agiletoolkit.org/reloadform
Alternative example:
http://demo.atk4.com/demo.html?t=22
Since 4.1, you can also use autocomplete fields instead of reference:
$form1->addField('autocomplete','user');

coldfusion - bind a form to the database

I have a large table which inserts data into the database. The problem is when the user edits the table I have to:
run the query
use lots of lines like value="<cfoutput>getData.firstname#</cfoutput> in the input boxes.
Is there a way to bind the form input boxes to the database via a cfc or cfm file?
Many Thanks,
R
Query objects include the columnList, which is a comma-delimited list of returned columns.
If security and readability aren't an issue, you can always loop over this. However, it basically removes your opportunity to do things like locking certain columns, reduces your ability to do any validation, and means you either just label the form boxes with the column names or you find a way to store labels for each column.
You can then do an insert/update/whatever with them.
I don't recommend this, as it would be nearly impossible to secure, but it might get you where you are going.
If you are using CF 9 you can use the ORM (Object Relation Management) functionality (via CFCs)
as described in this online chapter
https://www.packtpub.com/sites/default/files/0249-chapter-4-ORM-Database-Interaction.pdf
(starting on page 6 of the pdf)
Take a look at <cfgrid>, it will be the easiest if you're editing table and it can fire 1 update per row.
For security against XSS, you should use <input value="#xmlFormat(getData.firstname)#">, minimize # of <cfoutput> tags. XmlFormat() not needed if you use <cfinput>.
If you are looking for an easy way to not have to specify all the column names in the insert query cfinsert will try to map all the form names you submit to the database column names.

This is indeed a very good question. I have no doubt that the answers given so far are helpful. I was faced with the same problem, only my table does not have that many fields though.
Per the docs EntityNew() the syntax shows that you can include the data when instantiating the object:
artistObj = entityNew("Artists",{FirstName="Tom",LastName="Ron"});
instead of having to instantiate and then add the data field by field. In my case all I had to do is:
artistObj = entityNew( "Artists", FORM );
EntitySave( artistObj );
ORMFlush();
NOTE
It does appear from your question that you may be running insert or update queries. When using ORM you do not need to do that. But I may be mistaken.
