Claws-mail is my email client and it can launch an external editor when you compose an email. And in general I prefer to use vim as my editor. But with emails I can't find convenient settings.
I want vim to auto wrap lines that exceed 76 characters, but not always, for example if I make an (un)ordered list. I suppose vim can be the most convenient editor out there. So far I only know about the textwidth, the gqip keys to format a paragraph, and the :set formatoption+=a option. I'm a bit confused about the other formatoption settings. So I turn to you and ask:
Which settings will make vim a great email editor?

I installed vim on Windows 10 with chocolatey. Copy and Paste don't work when I invoke vim in powershell. I expect them to work as long as I'm in insert mode. How can I make copy and paste work?
https://n3wjack.net/2014/08/25/setting-up-vim-on-windows/ has the answers.
Open vim and type the following:
:edit $MYVIMRC
This will edit your .vimrc file wherever it might live. (On my system, it was in c:\Users\<my_username>\.vimrc, but you might have weird configuration issues, so just let vim find the file for you.
Then, copy+paste the following into the file:
source $VIMRUNTIME/mswin.vim
behave mswin
Then save the file.

I am doing text editor.I wanted to use function that will display line no of text editor.I got the function to get line number, but i wanted to show that no on window and user should not be allowed to change that no.I think i should do separate panel on text editor to display line no>
You probably want to use GtkSourceView instead of a TextView (e.g. the widget used by gedit among others), there are specific methods ready to use such as:
gtk_source_view_set_show_line_numbers

What's the best Emacs auto-complete mode to use for writing prose in English? My main requirement would be to automatically complete its best guess as to the MOST LIKELY match with a single keystroke, rather than forcing me to navigate and choose which completion to fill in.
So that for instance if I typed in DISADV and hit ESCAPE, it would automatically complete it to DISADVANTAGE since that's the most likely completion.
It would be even better if it could automatically complete it just from hitting SPACE, if and when there's only one possible completion.
Suggestions?

is there a simple way to make emacs put the tex-shell output in a background buffer? i.e. as opposed to the default behavior where it automatically makes split window to show the tex-shell.
More often than not I do not need to see the tex-shell output after rendering and it just unnecessarily takes up window space which I have to fix (an admittedly minor annoyance but an annoyance nevertheless).
Thank you
You should be using AUCTeX (it's much better than the builtin tex-mode) which will only open the TeX shell if you ask it to.

I use FAR. When run I can change color of text to green(in command line - after Ctrl-O) like in Matrix using system menu properties->Settings...
But when I close and after start again - color return to black&white.
How to make these changes permanent?
F9->Options->Colors->CommandLine. There are setting of color for different kind of displayed text.
Console color settings are stored in the shortcut file (*.lnk).
Create a shortcut to start Far (for example on your Desktop) and then change colors using the shortcut Properties. Use this shortcut to start Far.
