Error Loading metadata in visual studio - metadata

Error loading metadata: The 'My Cube Name' cube could not be retrieved from the server . Verify that the server is running and that the cube is processed.
I am getting the same error message after proces and deploying the cube....
Any ideas......

Check if cube's Visible property is set to True. More info you can find here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlanalysisservices/thread/0d404944-ea14-4e1f-89d6-069900eb9b92/

I have encountered this problem when something in the server files (in Microsoft SQL Server\\OLAP\Data folder) gets corrupted. The only way that I've been able to resolve this when it happens is to physically delete the database using Management Studio and then redeploy the project from BIDS (Visual Studio).

Build Visual Studio project fails - The cloud operation was unsuccessful

I'm using two laptops and stored my C# code in OneDrive.
I am aware that sharing code via OneDrive is not be the best approach, but that's what I'm dealing with now.
I noticed that on laptop 1 I have to define the following path to the data file (mdf):
C:\Users\ Diet\OneDrive\Personal\VisualStudio2019\Repos\project\project\App_Data\data.mdf
On laptop 2, the path is different because the user I'm logged in with has a different name (or at least that's what I believe is the cause)
C:\Users\ Dieter\OneDrive\Personal\VisualStudio2019\Repos\project\project\App_Data\data.mdf
Updating this in the Web.config fixed the connection to the database, BUT building the solution still returns an error, also related to a cloud operation, hence why I think it is caused by the path in OneDrive...
The error message:
CSC : error CS0041: Unexpected error writing debug information -- 'The cloud operation was unsuccessful.
I welcome your insights. Thank you for helping me out.
I have my projects stored in OneDrive and had this same issue. The fix was to set the entire Project folder contents to "Always keep on this device".
Seems that building the solution in VS was attempting to write to files that were not cached locally from OneDrive. As soon as I changed the setting, the build worked!
I was also storing my project on OneDrive, got the same error after installing a new ssd.
Rebuilding the solution was enough for me.

Office.JS "This add-in is no longer available" error

Suddenly I started getting an error while loading an add-in:
Error : "This add-in is no longer available: addin inserted during development are only available during debugging from visual studio. Please open your project in visual studio and re-run your application or deploy your add-in into a valid catalog and reinsert."
When I used to run the project the addin used to load automatically. Now I am getting above error.I haven't made any changes to code and word.
Note: I have installed Fiddler today but after that add-in was working. I have reset my add-in but no use.
I was not able to resolve this error. As a workaround I have created new project copied only home.html,home.js and other JS and CSS files and it works.
I also had this error recently in O365 Excel on Windows 10 but not in O365 Excel Web. In the end I solved it this way:
I ran npm run validate
This gave me a list of validation errors for the manifest.xml
I fixed the validation errors (In my case some String ids were too long)
I (re)started dev server npm stop npm start
So it seems like O365 Excel Web can cope with invalid manifest.xml to some extend whereas the app has a strikt validation of the file. I wish Office would output a meaningful error message in stead of a missleading "This add-in is no longer available". This did cost me roughly 6 hours to find out...
I had this error not for studio code but with excel but it is kind of linked
I put the staging manifest that does not contain localhost url (this was the error return during validation)
and I replace then one by one with dev config even at the end I put back localhost and it works so there is a kind of cache somewhere but I did empty the cache.
between each step I click on the drop down of Excel insert/my add in arrow and the app name under developer add in

Eclipse save error when trying to open the design view of a synapse config file in WS02 Developer Studio

I'm following the tutorials and samples of the official WSO2 ESB documentation. When I create (or load) a synapse configuration in the WSO2 Developer Studio I'm getting the error as shown below:
Save problems
Save could not be completed.
Reason:
resources\sunErrorHandler.esb_diagram (The system cannot find the path specified)
This error shows up when I want to open anything in the Design view. Even when I'm not trying to save anything.
So far I have tried to add the path specified in the error, but without success. I already found a workaround to be able to save and deploy my ESB configurations. By using "Save as" I'm able to keep the changes I made in the XML files. However the error stills shows up when I open the new version of the file.
Does anyone know a better solution to permanently resolve this error message?
I had this problem as well, running eclipse.exe as administrator fixed it.
Issue remains unresolved for my Eclipse + DevStudio 3.8.0 install on a Windows 10 environment. However since I was experiencing some other issues with the WSO2 ESB I decided to migrate to a Linux (Ubuntu) environment. This seems to work much better, the eclipse does not seem to have this issue on Linux.
Eclipse want to write in C:\Program Files\eclipse\resources. I solve problem by adding full permissions to group users on folder C:\Program Files\eclipse
If this happens in Mac you can provide the required permission to the "/Applications/IntegrationStudio.app/Contents/MacOS/resources" folder.

Update Target Button is disabled in Sql Server Database Schema Comparison

I use Visual Studio 2013 Professional Update 4 in combination with multiple SQL Server 2012 Enterprise servers/instances. The Idea was to create a Version controlled deployment using a Visual Studio Solution with SQL Server Projects.
However for some reason the "Update Target" and "Generate Script" button is disabled.
I can update the local database project from the sql server database but the other way around is not working. (see screenshot)
Google is not helpful at all although I found a few people with a similar problem.
Update target button is disabled after schema comparison
VS2012: Schema compare, update button disabled
VS2012 Schema compare buttons disabled
But none of this questions/blogposts is about Visual Studio 2013 and in addition none of the proposed solutions is working for me.
Question: Why is the Update Target button disabled and what do I have to change to fix this?
Note: Of course, I'm using the latest version of SQL Server Data Tools(12.0.50318.0)
This was driving me nuts, as well. I finally noticed a "warning" message stating "Cannot generate deployment plan due to an internal error". Because of this, the Update and Generate Script buttons were both disabled.
I resolved this by closing Visual Studio, navigating to the folder containing the Database project and removing all (*.dbmdl) files. I then restarted Visual Studio, re-ran the compare schema and the Update button was enabled.
The tip that helped me was to look at the error list. (View Menu, Error List). Once I cleared the errors (just the errors, the ones with the red X) I was able to compare the schema again and the Update and Generate Scripts buttons were both enabled.
Beside the generate script, click on OPTIONS and select only the objects for which you want to compare.
This and ONLY this worked for me.

TFS to VisualStudio Online Migration - Access to directory is denied

I'm trying the new OpsHub TFS to Visual Studio Online migration tool and have run into a snag. After successfully setting up the migration configuration, I begin the migration.
On the first changeset of the migration, I receive the error:
"OH_SCM_009: Error occurred while sync. Access to the path 'O:\w15_2\ProjectName'"
Where ProjectName is the name of my project.
Through deletion and recreation of the project in VSOnline, I found that the folder 'w15_2' would change, an indication that this path (and subsequent access failure) is in VSOnline. I have confirmed the user I am using for migration is a project collection admin, project admin, and project collection service account (per the OpsHub help page).
I'm not really sure where to go from here... any ideas how to get around this access denied error?
The error indicates that the utility does not have ability to write at location at :\Program Files\OpsHub Visual Studio Online Migration Utility\TFS_Temp which is used by the utility for temp work space. (It is aliased to O drive). Please check to make sure that this location is writeable.
