I am trying to set the variable $purchase to use in my email template per the following configuration:
App::uses('CakeEmail', 'Network/Email');
$email = new CakeEmail();
$email->emailFormat('html');
$email->template('new_order_email', 'default');
$email->from(array('info#mydomain.com' => 'A Great Site'));
$email->to($this->request->data['email']);
$email->subject('Order details');
$email->viewVars($purchase);
$email->send();
But this doesn't work when I attempt to use the $purchase variable in the template. Instead, the email which is sent contains the following error:
Notice (8): Undefined variable: purchase
[APP/View/Emails/html/new_order_email.ctp, line 2]
This indicates that $purchase is not available, even though I did set that variable using the CakeEmail:viewVars(); function. Any ideas why I am having this problem?
Use this:
$email->viewVars(array('purchase' => $purchase));
the quickest and shortest way:
$email->viewVars(compact('purchase'));
it will pass the var $purchase as the same key 'purchase' into the email viewVars and is exactly what you need here.
you can also quickly add more variables this way:
$html = 'foo';
$url = '/my/url';
$email->viewVars(compact('purchase', 'html', 'url'));
Look at my answer Here
$emial->viewVars($valiables);
in your email template print this. then you will be able to see all your variables :)
var_dump($this->viewVars);

I'm absolutely new to Slim Framework. I'm working on an Webservice that should provide an interface between an Android App and a Web-Application. I used the Slim Documentation to make my first steps and now I want to create a simple GET route, to receive information from the App. Here is what I have so far:
require 'Slim/Slim.php';
\Slim\Slim::registerAutoloader();
$name_outside = '';
$app = new \Slim\Slim();
$app->get('/session/program_name/:name', function ($name) use($app) {
$name_outside = $name;
echo $name;
});
$app->run();
echo $name_outside;
I need to access the variable :name outside the function, but what I get is nothing. What I am doing wrong here?
Btw: I know that GET-routes usually are used to list existing resources, but for my simple case, I decided to use it that way.
Fix your code to hold name as args parameters ,then you can get in in Your function
require 'Slim/Slim.php';
\Slim\Slim::registerAutoloader();
$name_outside = '';
$app = new \Slim\Slim();
$app->get('/session/program_name/{name}', function ($args) use($app) {
$name_outside = $args['name'];
echo $args['name'];
});
$app->run();
To acess the $name_outside inside the function context you pass it.
$app->get('/session/program_name/:name', function ($name) use($app, &$name_outside) {
$name_outside = $name;
echo $name;
});
But perhaps you're using Slim in a wrong way. Why you have to access the variable outside of your route?
No code is execyted after the run() call. That's the way slim works, try to put a die where you're echo the variable, it isn't reachable.
You shouldn't have the need to access the context of the route outside of it this way. To transform a request or a response you use middlewares with the hooks.
I am using cakePHP to send smtp email with sendgrid. I would like to be able to execute a single send() to multiple recipients and allow sendgrid to use the vars to replace -name- with the names from a array.
In my cakephp controller method I am testing:
protected function fwtEmail() {
$config = 'sendGrid';
$subject = "test";
$Email = new CakeEmail('sendGrid');
$names = array('user#domain.com'=>'John','user2#domain' =>'Paul');
$Email->To($names);
$vars = array('Paul', 'John');
$Email->viewVars(array('name' => $vars));
$Email->from( array('admin#testdomain.com' => 'Jim') );
$Email->subject($subject);
$template = 'bulk';
$Email->template($template, 'default');
$Email->sendAs = 'both';
return $Email->send();
}
Here is a post on the SendGrid blog that does what you describe.
edit: apologies, this appears not to work in the latest cakephp. I'm trying to find a solution for you.
I've moved some old code from an old unix box to our new unix box, and I'm having some difficulty with a perl script sending email to multiple recipients. It works on the old box.
Old box perl: version 5.004_04 built for PA-RISC2.0
New box perl: v5.8.8 built for IA64.ARCHREV_0-thread-multi-LP64
Here's the basics of the script (stripped-down):
use Net::SMTP::Multipart;
$to = "sam\#bogus.com tom\#foo.com";
$smtp = Net::SMTP::Multipart->new($smtpserver);
$smtp->Header(To => $to,
From => "junk\#junk.com",
Subj => "This is a test.");
$smtp->Text("Hello, world!\n");
$smtp->End();
This works if I change it to $to = "justOneEmail\#address.com", but if I have two or more email addresses (separated by spaces), it no longer works. I don't get an error message, but no message shows up.
Any ideas why?
Do it like this:
use Net::SMTP::Multipart;
$to1 = "sam\#bogus.com";
$to2 = 'tom#foo.com';
$smtp = Net::SMTP::Multipart->new($smtpserver);
$smtp->Header(To => [ $to1, $to2, 'another_email#server.com' ],
From => "junk\#junk.com",
Subj => "This is a test.");
$smtp->Text("Hello, world!\n");
$smtp->End();
Notice that if you use double-quotes, you should escape the # in the email addresses, or perl may try to interpret it as an array interpolation.
Instead of separating the email addresses with spaces, use a comma with no intervening spaces. This works for me..
Declare an array and put all the email id's like
#MailTo = ('mail1#demomail.com', 'mail2#demomail.com', ...., 'mailn#demomail.com')
Now use the Net::SMTP module to send out the emails
$smtp->to(#MailTo);
I'm trying to submit a form by post method using WWW::Mechanize perl module.
use WWW::Mechanize;
my $mech = WWW::Mechanize->new();
...
$mech->get($url);
...
my $response = $mech->submit_form(
form_name => $name,
fields => {
$field_name => $field_value
},
button => 'Button'
);
$field_name is generally speaking a text field (though the type is not specified explicitly in the form), which has a preset value.
$field_name => $field_value in $mech->submit_form on whatever reason does not replace the value, instead $field_value is added into the form after the original value:
{submitted_field_value} = {original_value},{provided_value}
How to replace {original_value} with {provided_value} in the form to be submitted ?
What happens if you add this single line to your code before calling $mech->submit_form():
$mech->field( $name, [$field_value], 1 );
This makes sure that the first value is added, or overwritten if it already exists.
1 is the number parameter (or position index)
See the documentation of WWW::Mechanize:
$mech->field( $name, \#values, $number )
Given the name of a field, set its value to the value specified. [...]
The optional $number parameter is used to distinguish between two
fields with the same name. The fields are numbered from 1.
It's important to remember WWW::Mechanize is better thought of as a 'headless browser' as opposed to say LWP or curl, which only handle all the fiddly bits of http requests for you. Mech keeps its state as you do things.
You'll need to get the form by using $mech->forms or something similar (its best to decide from the documentation. I mean there so many ways to do it.), and then set the input field you want to change, using the field methods.
I guess the basic way to do this comes out as so:
$mech->form_name($name);
$mech->field($field_name, $field_value);
my $response = $mech->click('Button');
Should work. I believe it will also work if you get the field and directly use that (ie my $field = $mech->form_name($name); then use $field methods instead of $mech.
I managed to make it working at my will. Thanks Timbus and knb for your suggestions. Though my case may not be completely general (I know the preset value) but I'd share what I've found (by trails & errors).
my $mech = WWW::Mechanize->new();
$mech->get($url);
$mech->form_name( $name );
my $fields = $mech->form_name($name);
foreach my $k ( #{$fields->{inputs}}){
if ($k->{value} eq $default_value){
$k->{value}=$field_value;
}
}
my $response = $mech->click('Button_name');
I think this is very basic perl question but I am not getting it through.
I am using LWP::UserAgent package to build a post request in perl script.
The code is as follows:
my $urlStr = "http://localhost/testproj/AServlet";
my $postDataStr = "{name => \'ankur434\'}";
my $response = $ua->post($urlStr, $postDataStr);
The above code doesn't work & gives following error -
<Dec 6, 2010 3:15:54 PM IST> <Error> <HTTP> <BEA-101215> <Malformed Request "/testproj/AServlet". Request parsing failed, Code: -1>
However when I directly pass postDataStr's value to post method, it works perfectly well, like shown below:
my $response = $ua->post($urlStr, {name => 'ankur434'});
I tried few options like escaping { with backward slash (\{) but nothing worked...
Can anyone suggest something? Thanks!
{name => 'ankur434'}
is a hash reference.
"{name => \'ankur434\'}"
is, as your variable name indicates, a string.
Perl does not automatically convert the latter to the former.
You seem to be under the impression that in Perl, only strings can be assigned to variables or passed to subroutines.
This is not the case. Just use
my $urlStr = "http://localhost/testproj/AServlet";
my $postData = {name => 'ankur434'};
my $response = $ua->post($urlStr, $postData);
