I want to implement this function, when I click on the button, the value of the button changes. But I know I cannot call the button object itself in its clickHandler. So, How can I do this?
button.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler(){
public void onClick(ClickEvent event){
button.getButtonElement().setValue("X");
}
});
2 ways:
((Button)event.getSource()).setValue("x");
Or
Outside the handler, use
final Button btn = button;
Then you will be able to use btn as reference to the button inside the handler .
It's a very easy problem to solve:
final Button b = new Button("Old text here", new ClickHandler() {
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
b.setText("new text here");
}
});

I have following handler
textArea.addKeyDownHandler(new KeyDownHandler() {
#Override
public void onKeyDown(KeyDownEvent event) {
//here
}
});
I need to enable save button with id "idsave", but I am not able to refer the button.
I am new to GWT, any help would be appreciated.
Typically, you do not use element ids in GWT. If you created a button, you can simply use it:
private Button saveButton;
...
saveButton = new Button("Save");
textArea.addKeyDownHandler(new KeyDownHandler() {
#Override
public void onKeyDown(KeyDownEvent event) {
saveButton.setEnabled(true);
}
});
If you don't have the reference of the button then try with the id.
// get element by id
Element saveButtonElement = RootPanel.get("idsave").getElement();
// remove disabled attribute to make it enable
saveButtonElement.removeAttribute("disabled");
I want to call a method whenever my DialogBox is hidden. It doesn't matter how it is hidden, it could be someone click close button or it can be hidden by itself. When that happen the system will call a method.
Look at this code.
public class WishListDialogBox extends DialogBox {
#UiField Button closeButton;
public WishListDialogBox() {
setHTML("Wish List");
setWidget(uiBinder.createAndBindUi(this));
closeButton.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler(){
#Override
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
hide();
}
});
}
#Override
public void hide() {
super.hide();
//call some action here;
}
}
The above code only work when I click CloseButton, but when the DialogBox was hidden by itself, nothing happened.
There is no onHide event in DialogBox.
In traditional Java, there is addWindowListener to handle his very easily, but that is missing in GWT DialogBox.
So, How to fire an event when a DialogBox is hidden in GWT?
Finally I found a solution
this.addCloseHandler(new CloseHandler(){
#Override
public void onClose(CloseEvent event) {
// TODO Auto-generated method stub
//do some action here
}
});
I`m using GWT-Popup-Panel with the following code:
private static class MyPopup extends PopupPanel {
public MyPopup() {
// PopupPanel's constructor takes 'auto-hide' as its boolean parameter.
// If this is set, the panel closes itself automatically when the user
// clicks outside of it.
super(true);
// PopupPanel is a SimplePanel, so you have to set it's widget property to
// whatever you want its contents to be.
setWidget(new Label("Click outside of this popup to close it"));
}
}
public void onModuleLoad() {
final Button b1 = new Button("About");
b1.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler() {
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
final MyPopup g = new MyPopup();
g.setWidget(RootPanel.get("rightagekeyPanel"));
g.setPopupPositionAndShow(new PopupPanel.PositionCallback() {
public void setPosition(int offsetWidth, int offsetHeight) {
g.setPopupPosition(b1.getAbsoluteLeft(), b1.getAbsoluteTop());
g.setAutoHideEnabled(true);
}
});
g.setVisible(true);
g.setWidth("500px");
g.setHeight("500px");
g.show();
}
});
It does appear when clicking Button b1, but not when clicking it the second time. What is wrong?
Make one popup, outside of your ClickHandler, at the same level as your Button. You also don't need that PositionCallback to center your popup. You can just call g.center() to show it and center it. It's a known issue on the GWT support pages that it won't center properly if you don't set a width to it. It will center properly if you give your popup a proper width.
The reason it doesn't show again is because you remove the widget inside RootPanel.get("rightagekeyPanel") and put it into your popup. It is no longer there the next time you try to do it.
A widget can only be in one place at a time, so if you remove it from its parent, keep track of it with a variable or something, so you can re-use it. Otherwise, you must re-instantiate the widget.
public void onModuleLoad() {
final Button b1 = new Button("About");
final MyPopup g = new MyPopup(); //create only one instance and reuse it.
g.setAutoHideEnabled(true);
g.setSize("500px", "500px"); //sets width AND height
b1.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler() {
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
g.setWidget(RootPanel.get("rightagekeyPanel"));//DON'T DO THIS.
g.center();//will show it and center it.
}
});
}
Just say in my case I had to add some widget to make the PopUpPanel appear. Try using a label to make sure the Popup is showing.
PopupPanel popup = new PopupPanel();
popup.setVisible(true);
popup.center();
popup.show();
popup.setWidth("500px");
popup.setHeight("500px");
popup.add(new Label("Test"));
i have one window panel in my project.
and i add one button to it.
when i click the button,i want two event to fire.
one event is to hide that window,which i achieve through
Button button = new Button("click");
button.addListener(new ButtonListenerAdapter(){
#Override
public void onClick(Button button, EventObject e) {
hide();
super.onClick(button, e);
}
});
Window.add(button);
and second i want to pop up another window at the same time on the same button click..what to do?
help me out
I think this should solve your problem :
final boolean evenClick = false;
Button button = new Button("click");
button.addListener(new ButtonListenerAdapter(){
#Override
public void onClick(Button button, EventObject e) {
if (!evenClick) {
hide();
super.onClick(button, e);
}
else {
//DO YOUR SECOND CLICK STUFF
}
evenClick = !evenClick;
}
});
Window.add(button);
I am trying to create an "Open" button which will open a new website.
Unfortunately, I don't understand how to create an event that opens a new website.
How can I register the Hyperlink widget to this ClickEvent :
Button button = new Button("Open");
button.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler() {
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
Hyperlink widget = new Hyperlink("Home Page", "Home");
}
});
rootPanel.add(button, 568, 275);
thanks in advance !
This code will open the link in the current window when the button is clicked:
Button button = new Button("Open");
button.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler() {
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
Window.Location.assign("http://www.someurl.com");
}
});
rootPanel.add(button);
You can't do it with hyperlink. You should do it with anchor or window assign or just simple native javascript methods like that
Button button = new Button("Open");
button.addClickHandler(new ClickHandler() {
public void onClick(ClickEvent event) {
Window.Location.assign("new url");
or
getURL("new url");
or add anchor to the panel
Anchor a = new Anchor("new page", "new url");
RootPanel.get().add(a);
}
});
rootPanel.add(button, 568, 275);
public static native String getURL(String url)/*-{
return $wnd.open(url, 'target=_blank')
}-*/;
You need to have your event handler request a URL change, not have it add a new widget.
Do you want to open it in a new window or in the same window?
Generally speaking, you would probably want to have your click handler code use the History class or the Window class to open a different URL and/or to manipulate the browser history.
