By mistake, I deleted the .s.PGSQL.5432 file in folder /var/run/postgresql
because of that , I cant able to add server in pgAdmin , Instead i am getting error like below
An error has occurred:
Error connecting to the server: could not connect to server:
No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
please, someone help me to resolve this problem
A simple fix would be to restart the PostgreSQL daemon. It should recreate the socket file on startup.
Reloading the configuration file might also cause the socket file to be recreated. You can do this from a shell:
pg_ctl reload
Or from an existing PostgreSQL connection that has superuser privileges:
SELECT pg_reload_conf();

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and every time I reboot the machine, the key identities saved by ssh-add are gone.
~$ ssh-add -l
The agent has no identities.
I have already added "IdentityFile" in my .ssh/config file like the post below instructed, but it's not working.
Add private key permanently with ssh-add on Ubuntu
My .ssh/config file looks like the following:
Host github-user-1
HostName github.com
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa.git.user-1
User git
IdentitiesOnly yes
Host github-user-2
HostName github.com
IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa.git.user-2
User git
IdentitiesOnly yes

I am trying to access the postgresql service which is running on my computer (which as you can see in the picture, it is running), from another computer on the same network.
On another computer, I am trying to access port 5432 (on which this service runs) by typing in telnet 192.168.2.102 5432; however it fails to connect. Can someone tell me what the problem might be please?
Read this and this pages of the manual to set up connections to the postgresql server correctly.
Take a closer look at listen_addresses, port configuration in postgresql.conf and security settings in pg_hba.conf.
And dont forget to restart your server after you've updated the config files.

I've been trying to set up a VPS mainly for testing purposes, but I've lost so many hours now on this seemingly stupid issue that the only thing I can to is turn to the community's shared knowledge to try to solve it.
Scenario: Fresh VPS Ubuntu (Ubunut now) 12.04 install. Updated and upgraded.
First thing I do is to create a new user with sudo capabilities, login with such user and start working.
I input the commands:
sudo apt-get install postgresql
sudo su - postgres
psql -d postgres -U postgres
and now I get
psql: could not connect to server: No such file or directory
Is the server running locally and accepting
connections on Unix domain socket "/var/run/postgresql/.s.PGSQL.5432"?
I am not a Linux wizard, but I've got a good experience in setting up a Rails/PG environment, I did it so many times on local machines, and a few times on VPS machines too.
Now, I just can't get what the hell is going on.
Any suggestion?

I'm writing script in remote.ini The script looks like
on 1:start:{
server some.irc.server
server -m another.irc.server
}
The script works well as when I open mIRC, it automatically connect to 2 servers above
Now, I want to connect to an irc server that require password, say abcdef
How can I write script in remote.ini to connect to this server?
The syntax for /server in mIRC is:
/server [-emnsarpfoc] <server/groupname> [port] [password] [-i nick anick email name] [-jn #channel pass]
So, try:
on 1:start:{
server some.irc.server
server -m another.irc.server
server -m third.irc.server 6667 abcdef
}
