Fan page stopped getting traffic after last big overhaul - facebook

I used to have about 1200 fans and my stats would show that my pages would be seen hundreds of times, often over 1,000.
Then there was a major Facebook overhaul, which amongst other things, only showed the most popular posts on people's walls. Ever since, and despite that my FB fan base has grown to more than 1800, so often I get no more then 200 or 300 organic views for a post.
I've researched the best days and times, and after about a year and graphing, I discovered that Tuesday nights at 6:30 are my most popular times. On Tuesdays at 6:30 On August 21st I got 1,000 views, which thrilled me, but since then, on Tuesdays and other days/times I've tried, I'm lucky if even 300 out of my 1,800 even see my post.
What can I possibly do to make sure that the maximum number of fans are at least seeing my posts?

They are trying to get you to pay for promoted posts. The only way to now get all your fans to see your post is to pay for that privilege. If you don't pay, only a subset of your fans will see a post.
Of course the night that I posted this, I saw reports about a new feature. I still can't find the official notification, but this is a good story and it has full instructions.

So it is a matter of all page owners educating the end users that they need to take an additional step. This isn't great, but it is an improvement.

API LIKES facebook

Since trying to get help from FB is pointless I thought I would give this a shot.
I have a business page. I have run several ads and targeted foreign countries/languages. Page was opened 11/15 and by April 14 2016 I had roughly 1000-1200 followers-likes.
On April 15 my page likes shot up and kept doing so for approx 2.5 weeks. In that 2.5 week time frame I gained about 5000 followers which I now believe to be fake. They don't engage with anything and it is really killing my page. When I check my page analytical details it shows that those 5000 page likes are API Likes.
What does this mean? I am assuming that some like farmer has latched onto my account due to where I was boosting posts to and is now liking my page through all his fake profiles so he can keep them looking real.
My question is if I delete all the fakes will I be OK to continue using the account or should I close it and start over?

Tracking Facebook post likes per admin

Is there any way to track the amount of likes per poster gets? [The term "likes" refers also to the new "reactions" on Facebook.]
For a little bit of background, if you're not familiar with how Facebook pages work when they have multiple admins or editors, this picture shows if you have multiple people who manage the page, Facebook tracks the person who published the post. Now with this in mind, is there any way through the Facebook API or other to track the amount of likes a post gets and associate them with the publisher?
For example, Admin 1 posts 2 posts, one with 2 likes and another with 7 likes. Admin 2 then posts 3 posts, one with 6, one with 1, and one with 4. I would like for it to track that Admin 1 has gotten 9 likes and Admin 2 has gotten 11 likes. Having it keep track of the amount of posts per admin would also be great. This would make for a great system to reward admins who post more enjoyable or well-received content. Having it track other stats such as post reach, comments, etc. would also be great.
Now before any of you say that I could do this manually, I'd like a real-time count. Doing it manually is definitely possible but a real-time count (or a refresh at a certain interval) would definitely be better, easier, more accurate (especially with bigger pages who constantly get new likes on old posts).
If this is possible, it would be amazing!
Thanks everyone!

Facebook insights for Posts by Others

Is there any way to get insights for posts by others (assuming that I'm page admin). Or at least any evaluations of "posts by others" organic reach? Presumably it will be extremely small, but I need a little bit more accurate estimations.

What are the meaning of some of the "deeper" insights metrics? Why is my Daily Organic Reach less than my Daily Reach of Page Posts?

I use FB Insights data everyday when running analysis for my company. However, I have had some inconsistencies in the data and don't know if it is caused by a misunderstanding of the meaning of the "deeper" metrics. I have searched everywhere and am hoping that someone can help me.
Key Metrics tab:
Why is my Daily Organic Reach less than my Daily Reach of Page Posts? What is the count delta from? What is not included in Daily Organic Reach this included in Daily Reach of Page Posts?
Can you reach the same person Organically and Virally? Why does Organic Reach + Viral Reach equal to more than Total Reach (and Paid Reach is 0)?
‘Daily Likes Sources’ tab:
What are the full definitions of each of the sources: profile_connect, mobile, api, recommended_pages, page_suggestions, timeline, external_connect, page_profile, hovercard, search, ticker, like_story
Are mobile likes independent of the others?
Why would the Daily New Likes column in the Key Metrics tab not equal the summation all the columns for the same day in the Daily Likes Sources tab?
‘Daily Viral Reach by Story Type’ tab:
What are the full definitions of each of the story types: fan, page post, user post, mention?
If we normally get 1-5 viral uniques from user post, and then one day get 1.5k, what is the likely source of this?
‘Daily Page Consumers by Consumption Type’ tab:
What are the full definitions of the consumption types: other click, link click
Are photo views and video views included in other clicks?
Well I have only recently started using facebook insights and this is what I can share with you.
Q. Why is my Daily Organic Reach less than my Daily Reach of Page Posts?
A. As far as I understand these are two very different factors, Your organic reach is the number of people that find you through searches (Facebook, google, yahoo, bing ...) while Daily reach of page posts is the number of people visiting your page due to internal efforts, such as posting status updates.
Q. Can you reach the same person Organically and Virally?
A. Organic was explained previously while Viral is an effect of other people sharing your posts, be it images, statuses or videos. In general if you have interesting updates your viral reach will be higher than your organic reach. So basically yes, this just means that you are reaching a target audience using two different methods of marketing (If you are achieving in this, then keep it up, the more platforms people see you on, the comfortable they become with your brand)
The rest of your paragraph is very difficult for me to follow, please could you re-write in an easier point per question format.
1.1 I have explained why the organic reach is less, if you want to increase your organic reach you need to do some SEO (Search Engine Optimization) I really hope you know what it means.
Im not quite sure what count delta is, but I am assuming that if it refers to organic vs posts then it would be the difference between them. I am not 100% sure of what factors are included in each type of reach (Sorry, but I suggest you do some more research on that)
1.2 To re-iterate, these are two different forms of online marketing so simply yes, you can reach the same person by doing both forms of marketing. Paid reach is affected by many things, first it depends on whether you are doing ppc (pay per click) or cpm (pay per impression). Here you will need to run multiple campaigns and set your ctr targets, then compare the results and choose which is better. You need keep repeating this to continuously optimize your spending per person entering your page.
2.1 profile_connect - A like through a friend
mobile - A like from the mobile site (m.facebook.com)
api - This would be if you have the api on an external website of yours
recommended_pages - Liked by someone cause a friend posted it to them either in chat or in a PM
page_suggestions - I think this is if another page has liked you and refers people to you, but not 100% sure
timeline - No clue, this is new to FB and I havent had a chance to look at it yet ;)
external_connect - This would be from an external website, similar to the api, but rather just a url link as opposed to the api (can be found on forums...)
page_profile - ??
hovercard - ??
search - Facebook search
ticker - ??
like_story - Some one that came to your page because they saw a post of yours (true Viral)
2.2 I highly doubt that mobile like are independant of others, I just dont think that f-book has setup proper tracking for their mobile site
2.3 I think that people removing their likes may cause this, but I have asked myself this question a number of times :/
3.1 ok well you need to understand that viral reach is when a friend of a fan sees the post.
fan - A friend of a fan acted on a post that they saw (eg: John likes top-racers fan page)
page post - you share your page and it lands up on a fans wall and one of their friends act on it
user post - you post to your page ...
mention - A fan mentions you in one of their posts (the strongest viral)
3.2 Well this is a tough one because I don't know what you did, but I would suggest you list everything you do and when this happens have a look to see what you did different (sometimes viral really is viral)
4. I have never looked into these, sorry.
I hope this information helps you, but I really would suggest that you try and do some more research on the topic. Remember that Google tactics aren't necessarily going to work in Facebook, especially with paid advertising.
Good luck ;)

How far back in time can you go with the Facebook API?

With the Facebook API are only recent things (wall posts, friends status updates etc) obtainable or is everything ever associated with the user's account obtainable?
That's a tricky question.
First nowhere in the official documentation says how many items you can get from Graph API nor FQL.
Not only this. Also when trying to do normal recently querys you may find out that not every result is returnes. Nor from the Graph API, FQL, not even from the FQL Test Console.
All this is because serious bugs in the Facebook Platform.
On october 15 Facebook said in its blog
We have received a great deal of feedback recently about things we should do to improve Facebook Platform. The themes are clear: “fix the bugs,” “update the documentation,” “talk to us more,” and “make things more reliable.” We are listening, and this post outlines some of the things we are doing to address your concerns.
This means that they are now fixing the bugs that has been accumulated on many months in Facebook Bug Tracker.
One of the open Bugs in there says:
When using a FQL Query or utilizing the new Graph API to grab posts on a users
stream, not all posts are returned.
From what I can see, the system will grab the latest posts from within the last
month, and then becomes extremely spotty after that. I am able to grab posts
from myself up to 4/24/2010, at which point every single wall post I have
posted seems to disappear.
Many other developers have states the same thing under the comments of this Bug.
On 2010-09-27 Jeff Bowen (Developer from facebook) said the following
Hi all, we still need to add this to the documentation but the stream table is
limited the last 30 days or 50 posts, whichever is greater. Sorry this wasn't
previously published.
This have made many people upset since they assumed you could get everything from the Graph API.
Anyway this is for multiple results. If you want a single result apperently (from the commnets in thts bug) You could go as far as June 15 2009
Personally, I haven't tested yet again so I don't know if this actully works the way they say. Facebook Graph API is in constant change. It has been incomplete and buggy since the begining. But now Facebook says they are working on that.
I recommend every facebook developer to sign up for the Facebook Platform bug tracking system since there is a lot of not official things about facebook, that will impact your applications.
I'll keep an eye on there to see if more is said on this topic and update this answer if needed
