Set UIDatepicker programmatically - iphone

I have a datepicker and 2 buttons. And I want to set the datepicker value programmatically when I click the button. Like when I press the first button the datepicker value becomes today's date and 00:00:00: time and when I press the second button the datepicker value becomes today's date and 23:59:59 time.
How to do that?

Simple task, assuming that you already added two functions beging invoked on button pressing you need something like this:

I think the part with setting the components wasn't clear to you, check the API of the above classes and you will find more.
Edit: I changed the calendar to the current default calendar and initialized the calendar with now.

iOS 8 includes a new method on NSCalendar called startOfDayForDate, which is really easy to use:

Apple's description:
This API returns the first moment date of a given date.
Pass in [NSDate date], for example, if you want the start of "today".
If there were two midnights, it returns the first. If there was none, it returns the first moment that did exist.
Update, regarding time zones:
Since startOfDayForDate is a method on NSCalendar, it uses the NSCalendar's time zone. So if I wanted to see what time it was in New York, when today began in Los Angeles, I could do this:

How to subtract 30 minutes from a date

I am getting date value date: 2013-06-07 18:30:00 +0000. I am trying to subtract 30 minutes from this, but it not giving proper time.
I've tried this

Reason : The negative of a unsigned int is a positive number. This should work:

Providing value to temp again then no need provide NSDate object type again. Here u already have NSDate *temp then why r u using same name again for NSDate object

I need to get an NSDate object for 00:00(beginning of the day) from [NSDate date], let's say if currently it is 11:30am(returned by [NSDate date]), on 01/06/2012, now I need to have an NSDate for 00:00am on 01/06/2012.

What you doing is correct, but when you NSLog morningStart the date will be displayed in GMT time zone
If you wanna make sure that the date is correct, convert it to NSString
NSDateFormatter *formatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init];

Converting NSDate to NSString can be helpful but if you need to keep a NSDate object for further processing, here is your solution to have your real morningStart NSDate object set at 00:00:00 time, with care of the timezone as well... As you will see you were not so far from the solution :

It's very easy to do this in iOS8 using startOfDayForDate:

NSCalendar first day of week

Does anyone know if there is a way to set the first day of the week on a NSCalendar, or is there a calendar that already has Monday as the first day of the week, instead of Sunday.
I'm currently working on an app that is based around a week's worth of work, and it needs to start on Monday, not Sunday. I can most likely do some work to work around this, but there will be a lot of corner cases. I'd prefer the platform do it for me.

In case anyone is still paying attention to this, you need to use
ordinalityOfUnit:inUnit:forDate:
and set firstWeekday to 2. (1 == Sunday and 7 == Saturday)

Sets the index of the first weekday for the receiver.

Should do the trick.
In my opinion this settings should be dynamic according to the user locale.
Therefore one should use:
NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar];
[gregorian setLocale:[NSLocale currentLocale]];
This will cause the calendar to set the first week day according to the user locale automatically. Unless you are developing your app for a specific purpose/user locale (or prefer to allow the user to choose this day).

As pointed out (elsewhere) by #vikingosegundo, in general its best to let the local determine which day is the start of the week, however in this case the OP was asking for the start of the week to occur on Monday, hence we copy the system calendar, and override the firstWeekDay.
The problem with Kris' answer is the edge case where the beginning of the week starts in the prior month. Here's some easier code and it also checks the edge case:

I see misunderstanding in the other messages. The first weekday, whichever it is, has number 1 not 0. By default Sunday=1 as in the "Introduction to Date and Time Programming Guide for Cocoa: Calendrical Calculations":
"The weekday value for Sunday in the Gregorian calendar is 1"
For the Monday as a first workday the only remedy I have is brute force condition to fix the calculation

The Output will be:
date: 02/11/2010 :Thursday
First_date: 02/07/2010 :Sunday
since i had run this program on 2/11/2010 u will get the desired output depending on the current date.
Similarly if u want to get the first working day of the week i.e Monday's date then just modify the code a bit:
CHANGE :[components setDay:([components day]-([components weekday]-1))];
TO
[components setDay:([components day]-([components weekday]-2))];
to get Mondays date for that week..
Similarly u can try to find the date of any of seven workdays by changing the integer -1,-2 and so on...

The ISO 8601 calendar appears to have it's first weekday set to monday by default.
Using the Calendar nextWeekend (iOS 10 or later) and ordinality (thanks #kris-markel). I've gotten Monday as first of the week for the en_US calendar.
Here is an example of it with fallback to firstWeekday:

… is there a calendar that already has Monday as the first day of the week, instead of Sunday.
Someday, there will be.
My simple way of doing this is to get Monday = 0, Sunday = 6:
