I'm using Microsoft Word 2010, and I'm wondering whether it's possible to turn on spellchecking for German. The spellcheck works fine for English.
You can add the ability to check German spelling if you purchase and install a German Single Language Pack for Office . See http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/suites for more information and a link to purchase. You cannot legally download Office language packs from anywhere.

My facebook text is upside down. How do I fix it?
Did you leave your computer unlocked at some point? Sounds like someone changed your language preference to English (Upside Down). Go to Settings > Language and select regular English to fix it.

Which language is facebook using for their friend recommending system??
I wouldn't say it's anything special. Probably PHP compiled with their Hip-Hop compiler. Then when you visit Facebook they show you a number of their lastet computations and start a new background task to generate fresh ones.

In iTunes Connect and under the download statistics, do downloads done with a redemption code get included in those statistics?

I am pretty sure they do. Regardless of Free, Paid, or Promo a download of any kind still counts as a "Sale." Education apps downloaded using Edu promo codes are counted. I would assume regular promo's are as well.

How does this new "Instant Personalization" Facebook feature work? It seems like a terrible idea to me. But if Rotten Tomatoes can use it, then can I too? Or is it only available to certain special partners?
Instant personalization is only available to select partners. For everyone else, the normal OAuth authorization and permissions are going to have be used.
