Loading Generic view from UITableViewController - iphone

Here is my problem :
I created a .xib with some label. I created a UITableViewController like this :
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
dataToShow = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:#"cave",#"garage",nil];
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease];
}
cell.textLabel.text = [dataToShow objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
return cell;
}
The numberOfSectionInTableView and numberOfRowInSection are filled correctly, when running the programe the list shows as it should. I would like now, depending on which row the user click in the table view, to load the xib i created and fill the labels with text. Is that possible and if it is, how do I pull it off ? Thanks

- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
yourNextViewController *nextViewXib = [[yourNextViewController alloc]initWithNibName:#"yourNextViewController" bundle:nil];
nextViewXib.yourLable.text=[dataToShow objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:nextViewXib animated:YES];
[nextViewXib release];
}

- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
NSLog(#"selected row:%d",indexPath.row);
}
//in this mathod you get will row is calling..

display data in UITableView on view navigation

i have 2 views-view1 and view2, one for entering data and another for displaying the entered data.
I am able to display the entered data in view2 in labels. But how to display the data in a UITableView. Following is my code to display the data:
view2.m
#synthesize details; //details is an object of NSMutableArray.
- (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated {
[super viewWillAppear:animated];
textLabel.text = self.name;
lblCity.text = self.city;
lblGender.text = self.gender;
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return [details count];
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *simpleTableIdentifier = #"SimpleTableItem";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:simpleTableIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:simpleTableIdentifier];
}
cell.textLabel.text = [details objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
//cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"creme_brelee.jpg"];
return cell;
i debuuged and found that cellForRowAtIndexPath is never called.
Where am i getting wrong? How do i solve it?
You need to create a NSMutableArray of display Data in to UITableViewCell like below and don't forget to declare UITableView delegates in .h file <UITableViewDataSource,UITableViewDelegate> and also connect your UITableView IBOutlet in your xib and also connect the delegate:
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
arrCategorisation=[[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:#"DataOne",#"DataTwo",#"DataThree", #"DataFour",#"DataFive",nil];
}
#pragma mark - Table view data source
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView
{
// Return the number of sections.
return 1;
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return arrCategorisation.count;
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NSString *CellIdentifier =[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d",indexPath.row];
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease];
cell.textLabel.text=[arrCategorisation objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
}
// Configure the cell...
return cell;
}
#pragma mark - Table view delegate
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
}
your Table load data like:-

UITableView Cells get reordered after editing the cell

In my app, You can tap a cell, and it brings up a new view. You can edit the tableviewCell's textLabel, and save it. But when you switch views and come back to the tableView, the cells are in a different order. What could be the reason for this?
Here is my Code:
-(UITableViewCell *) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
static NSString * identifier = #"identifier";
self.cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:identifier];
h = [self.tableArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
NSString *brandModel = [[h.brand stringByAppendingString:#" "] stringByAppendingString:h.model];
self.cell.mainLabel.text = brandModel;
self.cell.nicknameLabel.text = handguns.nickname;
return self.cell;
}
If you are reloading tableView after saving UITableView cell then It will be reordered as initial because array from which you are setting cell data is as it is.You can change only table View cells not array data position in an array.
Below I have written a UITableView code to move cells and it is working fine after pushing view.If I remove reload method from viewWillAppear:
#import "MoveCellViewController.h"
#interface MoveCellViewController ()
#end
#implementation MoveCellViewController
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
UIBarButtonItem *left=[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:#"Edit" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered target:self action:#selector(edit)];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem=left;
myArray=[[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; //mutable array;
myArray=[NSMutableArray arrayWithObjects:#"Aman",#"Ankit",#"Sumit",#"Hercules",#"Jackie Chan", nil];
[super viewDidLoad];
// Do any additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib.
}
-(void)edit
{
if (self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem.title==#"Edit") {
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem.title=#"Done";
[_tableView setEditing:YES];
}else
{
[_tableView setEditing:NO];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem.title=#"Edit";
}
}
- (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning
{
[super didReceiveMemoryWarning];
// Dispose of any resources that can be recreated.
}
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section
{
return [myArray count];
}
// Row display. Implementers should *always* try to reuse cells by setting each cell's reuseIdentifier and querying for available reusable cells with dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:
// Cell gets various attributes set automatically based on table (separators) and data source (accessory views, editing controls)
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *cellIdentifier=#"cellIdentifier";
UITableViewCell *cell=[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:cellIdentifier];
if (cell==nil) {
cell=[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:cellIdentifier];
}
cell.userInteractionEnabled=YES;
cell.textLabel.text=[myArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
return cell;
}
- (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canMoveRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
return YES;
}
- (UITableViewCellEditingStyle)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView editingStyleForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
return UITableViewCellEditingStyleNone;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView moveRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)sourceIndexPath toIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)destinationIndexPath{
id ob = [myArray objectAtIndex:destinationIndexPath.row];
[myArray replaceObjectAtIndex:destinationIndexPath.row withObject:[myArray objectAtIndex:sourceIndexPath.row]];
[myArray replaceObjectAtIndex:sourceIndexPath.row withObject:ob];
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
NextViewController *nx=[[NextViewController alloc] init];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:nx animated:YES];
}
#end
This is working code and will not change after push view controller.
-(UITableViewCell *) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
NSString *CellIdentifier = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"S%1dR%1d",indexPath.section,indexPath.row];
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil)
{
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleValue1 reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
cell.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone;
}
h = [self.tableArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
NSString *brandModel = [[h.brand stringByAppendingString:#" "] stringByAppendingString:h.model];
self.cell.mainLabel.text = brandModel;
self.cell.nicknameLabel.text = handguns.nickname;
return self.cell;
}
-(UITableViewCell *) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil)
{
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleValue2 reuseIdentifier:nil];
}

}

tableview is crashing on clicking on cell or on scrolling in ios 5

I made a demo empty app and add a navigation controller with the view
UINavigationController *navBar = [[UINavigationController alloc]initWithRootViewController:objFirstViewControllerViewController];
[self.window addSubview:navBar.view];
After it i add a table view on the first view controller like this .
UITableView* demotableView = [[UITableView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 400) style:UITableViewStylePlain];
demotableView.delegate = self;
demotableView.dataSource = self;
[self.view addSubview:demotableView];
and the delegate function of the table view and main cell for row function like this way
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
cell.textLabel.text = #"Hello this is sample text";
cell.textLabel.minimumFontSize = 12;
cell.textLabel.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = TRUE;
cell.textLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"Copperplate" size:18];
return cell;
}
But when i scroll on my table or click any cell to go on the next view it just crash and give these two error on clicking and scrolling respectively.
[__NSCFArray tableView:didSelectRowAtIndexPath:]
[__NSCFDictionary tableView:cellForRowAtIndexPath:]
I don't understand what is getting wrong this code it have been working with the prior os properly
Any body can help please ?
Here is the code for did select row
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
Second *anotherViewController = [[Second alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:anotherViewController animated:YES];
}
and no of row is this one
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section {
return 15;
}
Actually I misused the ARC what are the changes I made to make the app run successfully actually it was crashing due to memory leak I reference the class in delegate with local object but the it got released when it tried to add the data on it and when table's delegate and datasource try to add the things in the current class it was released and it throw message from those message instances, I was stuck because I was thinking it is happening due to me having taken an empty kind of application but after adding the lines below in the delegate class I got the problem solved.
What I did in the delegate class in the .h file:
FirstViewControllerViewController *objFirstViewControllerViewController;
#property (strong, nonatomic) FirstViewControllerViewController *objFirstViewControllerViewController;
Then my table started behaving properly and all things that I was having problem in.
Replace your code by this and try:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if(cell == nil)
{
cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
}
cell.textLabel.text = #"Hello this is sample text";
cell.textLabel.minimumFontSize = 12;
cell.textLabel.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = TRUE;
cell.textLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"Copperplate" size:18];
return cell;
}
Hope this helps.
Please try this....
add your table view like this..
productList = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,102, 320, 267) style:UITableViewStylePlain];
productList.delegate = self;
productList.dataSource = self;
productList.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
[self.view addSubview:productList];
and add these methods....
#pragma mark Table view data source
// Customize the number of sections in the table view.
- (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView {
return 1;
}
// Customize the number of rows in the table view.
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section {
return (your row count);
}
// Customize the appearance of table view cells.
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier]autorelease];
}
// Configure the cell.
cell.textLabel.text = #"Title";
cell.detailTextLabel.text = formattedString;
cell.detailTextLabel.textColor = [UIColor darkGrayColor];
return cell;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
Second *anotherViewController = [[Second alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:anotherViewController animated:YES];
}
Since you have set demotableView.delegate = self;
you have to implement the tabelView: didSelectRowAtIndexPath: function which solves the crash on selecting(on Click) a Cell.
To resolve the crash of scrolling, you hav to implement
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section;
method.
P.S: In the cellForRowAtIndexPath:, all the lines except cell.textLabel.text should be inside
if(cell == nil){
}
and please follow proper maemory management rules

Other view is not loading in iPhone app

I am using below code in implementation file. The issue is when I click on a row it does not take me to another view?
please help
-(NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView{
return 1;
}
-(NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section {
return 3;
}
-(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease];
}
cell.textLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"Vehicle List %d", [indexPath row]+1];
return cell;
}
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
if (self.vehic == nil) {
Vehicle *vehicle = [[Vehicle alloc] initWithNibName:#"Vehicle" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]];
self.vehic = vehicle;
}
[self.navigationController pushViewController:self.vehic animated:YES];
}
For going to another View you should handle this method Correctly :-
-(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{
// on click on any row now it will go to Another View, let the other view be SecondViewController's View
SecondViewController *viewController = [[SecondViewController alloc]initWithNibName:#"FirstViewController" bundle:nil];
[self presentModalViewController:viewController animated:YES];
}
That's all. If you face any problem then tell me. :)

How to get cell text based on indexPath?

I have a UITabBarController with more than 5 UITabBarItems so the moreNavigationController is available.
In my UITabBarController Delegate I do the following:
- (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController
{
//do some stuff
//...
UITableView *moreView = (UITableView *)self.tabBarController.moreNavigationController.topViewController.view;
moreView.delegate = self;
}
I want to implement a UITableViewDelegate so I can capture the row that was selected, set a custom view property and then push the view controller:
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tblView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
//how can I get the text of the cell here?
}
I need to get the text of a cell when the user taps on a row. How can I accomplish this?
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tblView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
//how can I get the text of the cell here?
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath];
NSString *str = cell.textLabel.text;
}
A better Solution is to maintain Array of cell and use it directly here
// Customize the appearance of table view cells.
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
static NSString *CellIdentifier = #"Cell";
UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier];
if (cell == nil) {
cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease];
}
Service *service = [self.nearMeArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
cell.textLabel.text = service.name;
cell.detailTextLabel.text = service.description;
if(![self.mutArray containsObject:cell])
[self.mutArray insertObject:cell atIndex:indexPath.row];
return cell;
}
- (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
UITableViewCell *cell = [self.mutArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
NSString *str = cell.textLabel.text;
}
Swift 5
You can always get your cell from UITableVIew or UICollectionView based on IndexPath like this:
tableView.cellForItem(at: indexPath)
collectionView.cellForItem(at: indexPath)
