Drupal Commerce - Paypal Payment - paypal

I'm looking for a explanation about how the Paypal Sandbox works. Let's say I have a real Paypal account through which I receive payments and I want to configure it on Drupal Commerce's Paypal module, but also I want to test the payment workflow first before making it live and let my customers use it, I see the Paypal configuration on Drupal has the following options under the "PayPal server" section:
Sandbox - use for testing, requires a PayPal Sandbox account
Live - use for processing real transactions
I assume that if I want to do "dummy" transactions I must enable the "Sandbox" option on the Drupal side so my question is
Is enabling the 'Sandbox' option the only thing I need to do in order to avoid real transactions being charged to my Paypal account? or do I have to create another Paypal account (the Sandbox account) and configure it on the Drupal side instead of my real account?
I was just wondering if the Paypal Payment plugin on Drupal needs a "Sandbox account" (different from my real Paypal account) or if by just enabling the Sandbox option it somehow signals Paypal about it and any transactions are just ignored while that option is enabled.
I'll apreciate if someone clarifies this a bit for me, I'm just starting to develop Paypal related stuff.

You cannot test a dummy transaction with a real PayPal account on PayPal Sandbox. It requires Sandbox account. So, you need a Sandbox account AND change the Drupal option to Sandbox for testing.

DPRP is disabled. for this merchant in sandbox paypal

I'm trying to integrate paypal payments through card into rails app.
Normal one-time payments are working well. But I keep on getting the above response when I'm trying to make recurring payments. I've tried to enable that feature in paypal developer website but it says
Note: Live credentials are disabled for direct credit card processing in your app. We are processing your information and will email you when live API credentials are enabled.
But it is saying same from past few days. I've tried contacting them through online contact us but after three days they replied saying I have to add my credit card to the account. Do I need to add credit card for testing sandbox also?
You need to contact PayPal technical team at https://www.paypal-techsupport.com/app/ask , provide your sandbox PayPal account, they will enable DPRP for you.

Braintree sandbox accepts non-existent PayPal accounts?

It seems to me that you can type in any random username/password combination and both the drop-in UI widget and the backend will accept it as a valid PayPal account. The payment will go through and everything.
Is there a way I can set Braintree sandbox to only accept real PayPal accounts?

The Braintree Sandbox allows you to pass any email address and password you like into the PayPal dialog, as mentioned in Braintree's documentation. You can test with the fake PayPal nonces found on the Testing and Go-Live page, but keep in mind, Braintree didn't actually design the PayPal sandbox for handling end-to-end tests. All PayPal transactions made in the sandbox use the same, fake PayPal account. Because of that, there's no way to configure your Sandbox account to accept real PayPal accounts. We recommend that when you go live, you perform a few low-value sale transactions with each of the payment methods you plan to accept, including PayPal.
You can test cases where the information in a PayPal account is bad in the same way you would test a bad credit card: use one of the fake invalid nonces from our Testing and Go-Live page. If your code is handling those cases correctly, you can be confident that it will be able to handle a PayPal account with bad information as well.

How can I test paypal micropayments in the paypal sandbox?

Is there a way to test paypal micropayments in the sandbox? I can see where to upgrade the test account to paypal payments pro. But i don't see one for micropayments. I am trying to verify smaller transactions.
While it does not make much sense to see the pricing of sandbox transactions change, you can contact MTS under paypal.com/mts
give them the e-mail address of the sandbox merchant account you want to enable Micro Payments for and they should be able to activate it for that account.

Paypal where to set accept digital goods payment in sandbox

I've been trying this for few days. I've created some seller accounts, one of them I created early this year and it was working fine. Then when I return for this project this March, Paypal changed the API from x.com to developer.paypal.com. The old seller accounts were still working fine and can still accept the digital goods payments from the payer accounts that I created recently, however the new seller accounts, with BUSINESS type, suppose to be able to pay and accept payments got some issues. These newly created seller accounts receive the following warning:
You are not signed up to accept payment for digitally delivered goods.
Doing some research with google, I released I have to set the paypal business account for digital goods. But I can't find where to set it from the new paypal developer control panel. Even when I tried to log in to the sandbox version of paypal.com, using the seller accounts I created in the sandbox, I still can't find where I can set it. In my business setup, there are only two options for me, one is Paypal payments pro and other other is "Virtual Terminal". Any idea? Please help....
I've found the way to add express checkout for digital goods in sandbox, but I think Paypal should pay attention to this because the way I used was very clumsy.
First sign in to sandbox and choose a business account to log in to the sandbox by using the url provided in the Application/Sanbox Accounts. Then use the account that you want to set to accept digital goods checkout to log into the sandbox url, it should be www.sandbox.paypal.com/us/home
After logged in, go to my business setup and pay attention to the setup my payment solution. Click the view all products and you will be redirected to a new page. Please note the url now, the "sandbox" is missing. Now click on the express checkout button, or whatever you want to add to the payment solution, you will be redirected again. Now pay attention to the url, insert "sandbox" to the url, e.g www.paypal.com you have to replace it with www.sandbox.paypal.com, the rest of the url remain the same. Then press enter you will be redirected back to the business setup page. Now you can see your payment solution has become express checkout. It is stupid and I hope paypal can let us choose this directly from the control panel in the near future.
An alternative hides in Profile > My selling tools > API access > Update > At the bottom - Enable Express Checkout.
When I later go to My Account > My Business Setup I see: "Your payment solution: PayPal Digital Goods (Express Checkout)"

Paypay website payments standard API: pay without paypal account

we have set up Paypal as a hook into an e-commerce application, where users just enter their paypal account, and we link their clients through to their Paypal account when buying products.
This works great, and paypal asks you to login to pay for your purchases.
But we don't want clients to be forced to create a paypal account, just to make a purchase.
Does website payments standard API actually support paying without a paypal account?
At the moment this is a real showstopper for us.
Check out PayPal Adaptive Accounts. You can create PP accounts for your users. The only step they'll have to complete at PayPal is creating a password. Once the account is created you might need send the user back through a checkout flow.

Paypal is a very useful payment service gateway, exactly because the customer does not need to enter a credit-card number.
What we do, is offer Paypal as an option. We allow credit-card entry as well. In order to evaluate the credit-card for validity etc., we interface with the bank that supports our account and let their system do the checks. Another option would be "Cash on Delivery".
