Possible Duplicate:
I get “Source not found” when debugging my Java code in Eclipse
I`m using Eclipse Juno, Glassfish and I try to debug a JSF webapp.
I start the server in debug mode, I enter a page, I do an action to enter an action method.
The debug starts, the class name in the class tab is correct but with .method (ex. LoginForm.loginAction()), the icon near the name is the icon of the stack trace and in the content, where my sources should be, I get a Source not found...
but I can see the variables correctly, the line number in the stack trace, but no source...
I debuged JSF, but with previous versions of Eclipse. This is very strange...

I have the same too, somebody advise me remove debug config, I have done it, but nothing happen, I make sure that the problem come from eclipse, just remove and install again,

KARATE, VScode : "Run Karate Test" codelens not displayed [duplicate]

This question already has an answer here:
Unable to use read('classpath:') when running tests with standalone karate.jar
(1 answer)
Closed 1 year ago.
Visual Studio Code 1.43.0
Karate Standalone JAR 0.9.5.RC5
In the VScode editor, in a Karate .feature file opened, the codelens "Run Karate Test", as shown in the screenshot, isn't displayed anymore.
So, it is impossible to debug a specific scenario.
Any idea about this?
Thanks a lot.
In a correct configuration, it looks like this :
We are still unable to reproduce this issue. Referencing some searches it appears this may be due to a broader issue such as other plugins Eg. Intellisense. Reference to the broader issues https://www.google.com/search?q=vscode+codelens+not+showing
I would recommend trying a clean install with only the Karate Plugin to do some process of elimination. The latest Karate Version is 0.8.1 by the way which it doesn't appear you are using. The Codelens names have changed recently to "Karate: Run" and "Karate: Debug".
Hope this helps.

How can I debug why eclipse won't start?

I've been having trouble getting a weblogic server to run in eclipse, which have resulted in me not being able to open eclipse ni my current workspace at all. It is not my first attempt to work with weblogic servers in eclipse, and I do not know why it suddenly decided to stop working. I have had multiple errors, which all seem to be related to an abnormal high memory consumption.
One of my last errors, before eclipse quit on me for good, was an out of memory exception, on PermGenSpace. I set variables to 1024m, but it still complained it wasn't enough. After a lot of restarts, Eclipse suddenly wouldn't open my current workspace. I have tried others, and they work fine, but with my current one, the splash/loading screen disappears after about 10% of the loading bar is complete, and nothing happens at all. Except the fact that eclipse.exe shows up in the running processes tab on Windows task list. It does not show in the running programs list.
My attempts to start weblogic servers had the exact same symptoms. They showed in the process list, but did not respond when I tried to open the console in my browser.
Both eclipse and the weblogic tasks (shown as java.exe) has had over 400.000KB of memory consumption each, which I find very high.
I do not expect anyone to be able to find a complete solution here, but I am absolutely stuck. I cannot access any of my previous error messages. I have no experience debugging an error like this. Does anyone have any idea on how to find the error in a case like this?
My Weblogic version is 10.3.2, which is a company standard for now.
My Eclipse version is:
Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers.
Version: Kepler Service Release 2
Build id: 20140224-0627
Adding the comment as an answer since it provided some help.
Try starting up to a new empty workspace; If you dont get to select workspace at startup use the argument "-data " If you still get issues, look at the log in /.metadata/.log

Need help setting up a (Tomcat) web app in Eclipse for debugging

I've been using both eclipse and tomcat for years but have always deployed my web apps externally and never had a problem. Now I'd like to use eclipse to debug my web app and I can't figure out how to make it work. I started by trying to get my existing web app to deploy through eclipse but after hours of trying different things I decided to start fresh. Unfortunately, I didn't get much further. I'm hoping if I can figure out how things work with a fresh webapp I can get things to work on my existing. Sorry, this will be long, but here are the steps I tried on the latest eclipse (Juno):
Installed new version of tomcat 7.0.34 at /usr/java.
In eclipse, used "servers" view to add server, pointing to the new install (I didn't add any resources because there weren't any available yet). Starting the server worked and got a 404 as expected at http://localhost:8080/ ... then I stopped it.
Created a new "dynamic web project", named it TomcatDebug, set the location to ~/tomcat-debug, chose the server just created above (the only one), chose default config, tomcat-debug is empty so chose defaults for build paths, defaults for module settings and had it generate web.xml.
In the "tomcat-debug" folder it creates WebContent, build, and src. I throw a sample "hello, world" index.html into WebContent.
Now the project TomcatDebug is created so I try to run it, tell it to "run on server", and it goes to http://localhost:8080/TomcatDebug/ but gives a 404. I even try to add index.html but it still gives a 404.
This is about as basic as it can possibly get so what did I do wrong?
Continuing to try and figure this out I stop the server, change the server setting to "use tomcat installation", but still get a 404 in the same way when I restart. I tried changing my module context path and still 404.
I'm completely stumped. I believe I followed all the wizards as basically as possible. Where did I go wrong?
Thanks for taking a look.
I haven't run tomcat through eclipse in a while, so can't answer that aspect of the question. But, to get at the heart of what you're trying to do (debug a webapp in eclipse through tomcat), you shouldn't necessarily need to. This may serve you instead:
EDIT: Eh, look here for instructions ("Debugging" section). The below is how I did it (JUNO and TC 7) and has an annoying quirk in point #1.
edit the startup.sh (assuming *NIX/OS X) - the last line will probably be
exec "$PRGDIR"/"$EXECUTABLE" start "$#"
change this to
exec "$PRGDIR"/"$EXECUTABLE" jpda start "$#"
to activate debugging. (there are other ways to do this that may be better - i think tomcat/the VM may pause for listeners before proceeding, so when you aren't debugging this is not ideal)
Create a Debug Configuration in eclipse, under the "Remote Java Application" set. Default port should be fine, and presumably host. Choose your project.
Add sources of relevance to your debugging in the Source tab.
Start server and run your new debug configuration. App should stop at breakpoints you've set.
Right Click your index.html Run As -> Run On Server you will see Tomcat will automatically run the page.

I'm using Eclipse, and at random times, it will just freeze up and stop responding. Does this happen to anyone else? It usually happens when I click on a line of code, whether it be Java or XML. Any ideas on how to fix it?
System Specs:
Open your workspace\.metadata\.log file. That will tell you usually what is going wrong.
Try this, it worked for me!
If you happen to have Eclipse not responding anymore sometimes, the reason could be that you sit on a 64bit machine where eclipse needs more memory. Be sure to have (at least) the following configurations in your eclipse.ini (I even use bigger values for the PermSizes):
-Xms512m
-Xmx1024m
-XX:PermSize=64m
-XX:MaxPermSize=128m
I just restarted the adb (Android Debug Bridge) this way:
adb kill-server
adb start-server
and it works again!
Last night at 2am I closed my Eclipse (Juno) just fine. This morning I open it up and I get nothing but "Not Responding" on my 64bit Windows 7 machine.
I looked in [workspace]\.metadata\.log and it showed an error with Invalid property category path: ValidationPropertiesPage
I cuss it out pretty good and then show it who's the boss :
delete [workspace]\.metadata folder
delete [workspace]\[project]\.settings
Open up Eclipse to the same workspace as before, re-import your
project.
Which brings me to another topic... Eclipse -> import -> Android -> Existing Android code into workspace... seems to be broken once again. But that's a different topic.
Very likely your filesystem is out of sync with your Eclipse... Resource is out of sync with the file system. Using SVN? If you "Refresh" all of your projects in explorer, speed returns to normal.
I had similar symptoms recently. Turned out it was caused by the Subversion server being unavailable - once that was restarted I was able to right-click. My environment was Eclipse Luna with Subclipse.
So worth checking that any connected source control systems are operational. Hope that helps.
for me, it was because of all the outgoing files, i.e workspace is not in sync with SVN, due to the 'target' folders (maven project, or when building web project), add them to svn:ignore.
I kept running into this problem every time I tried opening eclipse. I resolved it by unplugging my android device's USB from my laptop, and eclipse worked again.
If there is a project you earlier imported externally (outside of Workspace), that may cause this problem. If you can access Eclipse try to remove it. If you are getting the 'No responding at startup', then go delete the file at source.
This will solve the problem.
I had a problem like you. But I am Windows 8.1 64 bit user. At first I use eclipse Kepler on my 8.1. The eclipse often become not responding when I worked on. After that, I decide to back to eclipse Juno and it works fine now.
This may help
In your eclipse,
1) Go to Help
2) Click Eclipse marketplace
3) search - optimizer
install "optimizer for eclipse"

Setting property 'source' to 'org.eclipse.jst.jee.server:JSFTut' did not find a matching property

When trying to run my app with eclipse/linux on apache tomcat on my local host
the application runs fine but, I got the following warning:
WARNING: [SetPropertiesRule]{Server/Service/Engine/Host/Context} Setting property 'source' to 'org.eclipse.jst.jee.server:appname' did not find a matching property.
any ideas what does this warning means, how to resolve it?
Despite this question being rather old, I had to deal with a similar warning and wanted to share what I found out.
First of all this is a warning and not an error. So there is no need to worry too much about it. Basically it means, that Tomcat does not know what to do with the source attribute from context.
This source attribute is set by Eclipse (or to be more specific the Eclipse Web Tools Platform) to the server.xml file of Tomcat to match the running application to a project in workspace.
Tomcat generates a warning for every unknown markup in the server.xml (i.e. the source attribute) and this is the source of the warning. You can safely ignore it.
You can change the eclipse tomcat server configuration.
Open the server view, double click on you server to open server configuration.
Then click to activate "Publish module contents to separate XML files".
Finally, restart your server, the message must disappear.
