I am newbie trying to make an app similar to Notes app of iPhone using UITextView.
I am getting the textView and lines and it is working fine.
My problem is that I want to add a UINavigationBar and back button on it.
And I want to add a UIToolBar at the bottom and 2 toolBarItems on it how to do this programmetically. Any help will be a great push up for me..
below is the code snippet.
NoteView.h
#interface NoteView : UITextView <UITextViewDelegate,UITabBarControllerDelegate>
{
}
NoteView.m
- (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame {
self = [super initWithFrame:frame];
if (self) {
self.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithRed:0.6f green:0.6f blue:1.0f alpha:1.0f];
self.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"MarkerFelt-Thin" size:20];
self.contentMode = UIViewContentModeRedraw;
}
return self;
}
- (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect {
CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext();
CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, [UIColor colorWithRed:0.0f green:0.0f blue:0.0f alpha:0.2f].CGColor);
CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 1.0f);
CGContextBeginPath(context);
NSUInteger numberOfLines = (self.contentSize.height + self.bounds.size.height) / self.font.leading;
CGFloat baselineOffset = 6.0f;
for (int x = 0; x < numberOfLines; x++) {
CGContextMoveToPoint(context, self.bounds.origin.x, self.font.leading*x + 0.5f + baselineOffset);
CGContextAddLineToPoint(context, self.bounds.size.width, self.font.leading*x + 0.5f + baselineOffset);
}
CGContextClosePath(context);
CGContextStrokePath(context);
}
AddNotesViewController.h
#interface AddNotesViewController : UIViewController <UITextViewDelegate,UITabBarDelegate>
{
NoteView *note;
}
#property (nonatomic, retain) NoteView *note;
#end
AddNotesViewController.m
- (void)loadView
{
[super loadView];
self.note = [[[NoteView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds] autorelease];
[self.view addSubview:note];
note.delegate = self;
note.text=#"";
}
- (void)scrollViewDidScroll:(UIScrollView *)scrollView
{
[note setNeedsDisplay];
}
- (void)textViewDidBeginEditing:(UITextView *)textView
{
CGRect frame = self.view.bounds;
frame.size.height -= KEYBOARD_HEIGHT;
note.frame = frame;
}
- (void)textViewDidEndEditing:(UITextView *)textView
{
note.frame = self.view.bounds;
}
- (BOOL)textView:(UITextView *)textView
shouldChangeTextInRange:(NSRange)range
replacementText:(NSString *)text
{
if ([text isEqualToString:#"\n"]) {
[textView resignFirstResponder];
return NO;
}
return YES;
}
Please tell me how and where to add navigation bar , back button and tool bar ,2 toolBarItems on it.Thanks in advance...
Navigation Bar Image
UINavigationBar *navBar = [[self navigationController] navigationBar];
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"TopBar.png"];
[navBar setBackgroundImage:image forBarMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault];
Back Button
-(void)getBackBtn
{
UIButton *Btn =[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[Btn setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f,0.0f,50.0f,30.0f)];
[Btn setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"back.png"]] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
//[Btn setTitle:#"OK" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
//Btn.titleLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"Georgia" size:14];
[Btn addTarget:self action:#selector(backBtnPress:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem *addButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:Btn];
[self.navigationItem setLeftBarButtonItem:addButton];
}
BackButtonAction
-(IBAction)backBtnPress:(id)sender
{
}
View on NavigationBar
For View on navigationBar you can follow my answer Link
use this code....
UIBarButtonItem *addButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc]
initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(#"Back", #"")
style:UIBarButtonItemStyleDone
target:self
action:#selector(YourActionMethod:)];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = addButton;

i want design my navigationBar like following figure, how can i achieve this.is it possible on navigationBar or i don't need navigationBar.
Topics & settings must be buttons, because i want to navigate to another viewController
I don't know whether it is possible on navigation bar.
I saw a similar one using tabbar: Center Button in Tab Bar for iOS
And you can achieve the same thing using : ALToolbar
Also check KLHorizontalselect
Create custom Navigation Bar with custom Delegate for that.. i used this see example bellow..
create CustomNavBar.h file like bellow...
// Created by Paras on 03/12/11.
// Copyright 2010 __MyCompanyName__. All rights reserved.
//
#import <UIKit/UIKit.h>
#import "CustomNavBarDelegate.h"
#interface CustomNavBar : UIView {
NSObject<CustomNavBarDelegate> *delegate;
NSString *strCatOrLoc;
UIButton *btnBack;
UIButton *btnLeft;
UIImageView *imgRightImage;
UILabel *lbl;
UIImageView *imgTitle;
}
#property (nonatomic, retain) UIButton *btnBack;
#property (nonatomic, assign) NSObject<CustomNavBarDelegate> *delegate;
-(void)onclickBack:(id)sender;
- (id) initWithFrame: (CGRect)rect;
-(void)setImage:(UIImage*)img NavTitle:(NSString *)title;
-(void)setTitleImage:(UIImage*)img rightImage:(UIImage *)imgRight;
-(void)setwithoutlogo:(UIImage*)img NavTitle:(NSString *)title;
#end
now see the code of CustomNavBar.m file bellow...
// Created by Paras on 03/12/11.
// Copyright 2010 __MyCompanyName__. All rights reserved.
//
#import "CustomNavBar.h"
#import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h>

[delegate popViewController:self];
}
#pragma mark -
#pragma mark
- (void)dealloc {
//[array release];
[super dealloc];
}
#end
and after that create Delegate class file like bellow..
#class CustomNavBar;
#protocol CustomNavBarDelegate
#required
- (void)popViewController:(CustomNavBar *)navBar;
-(void)btnleft_clicked:(CustomNavBar *)navBar1;
#end
after use this code in your classes ..For Example..
in .h file import it and then use like bellow..
#import "CustomNavBarDelegate.h"
#class CustomNavBar;
#interface ViewController : UIViewController<CustomNavBarDelegate>
{
CustomNavBar *navBar;
}
- (void)popViewController:(CustomNavBar *)navBar1;
#end
and in .m file define that delegate method and create and add navigation like bellow...
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
navBar = [[CustomNavBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 322, 44)];
[navBar setDelegate:self];
[self.view addSubview:navBar];
[navBar setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"yourImageName"] NavTitle:#"yourTitle"];
}
- (void)popViewController:(CustomNavBar *)navBar1 {
// NSLog(#">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> delegate called");
[self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES];
}
-(void)btnleft_clicked:(CustomNavBar *)navBar1{
NSLog(#"\n\n btn Left Clicked InviteFriendsView");
}
NOTE: This is just an example , here implement your logic with your requirement.
Here you can also add 3rd button in middle and also define the method for called it in Delegate and also in this another .m file..
i hope this helpful for you...
i did this ,see below code
//IvisionApps Button
UIButton *ivisionButton= [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
UIImage *ivisionButtonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"ivisionapps"];
UIImage *ivisionButtonImagePressed = [UIImage imageNamed:#"ivisionappsSelected"];
[ivisionButton setBackgroundImage:ivisionButtonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[ivisionButton setBackgroundImage:ivisionButtonImagePressed forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[ivisionButton addTarget:self action:#selector(goIVisionApp) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
ivisionButton.frame = CGRectMake(-8, -20, 106, 38);
UIView *backButtonView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(-8, -20, 106, 38)];
backButtonView.bounds = CGRectOffset(backButtonView.bounds, -14, -7);
[backButtonView addSubview:ivisionButton];
UIBarButtonItem *backBarButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:backButtonView];
self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = backBarButton;
//Auxilaries Button
UIButton *auxiliariesButton= [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
UIImage *auxiliariesButtonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Auxiliaries"];
UIImage *auxiliariesButtonImagePressed = [UIImage imageNamed:#"AuxiliariesSelected"];
[auxiliariesButton setBackgroundImage:auxiliariesButtonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[auxiliariesButton setBackgroundImage:auxiliariesButtonImagePressed forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[auxiliariesButton addTarget:self action:#selector(goBack) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
auxiliariesButton.frame = CGRectMake(-19, -20, 106, 38);
UIView *auxiliariesButtonView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(-19, -20, 106, 38)];
auxiliariesButtonView.bounds = CGRectOffset(auxiliariesButtonView.bounds, -14, -7);
[auxiliariesButtonView addSubview:auxiliariesButton];
UIBarButtonItem *auxiliariesBarButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:auxiliariesButtonView];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = auxiliariesBarButton;
//hide backBarButton of NavigationItem
[self.navigationItem setHidesBackButton:YES];
UITapGestureRecognizer and UIButton are not working together.
UIButton alone is working fine without UITapGesturerecognizer. It shows in all scrolling image views but after adding UITapGestureReconizer feature it is not showing UIButton when tapped.
BOOL numberofTaps;
#interface ImageScrollViewController : UIViewController <UIGestureRecognizerDelegate>
#property (nonatomic, assign) UITapGestureRecognizer *recognizer;
- (void)handleTap:(UIGestureRecognizer*)sender;
//////////////////////////
- (void)viewDidLoad {
self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor];
UIScrollView *imageScrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.view.frame.size.width, self.view.frame.size.height)];
imageScrollView.pagingEnabled = YES;
NSInteger numberOfViews = 61;
for (int i = 0; i < numberOfViews; i++) {
CGFloat xOrigin = i * self.view.frame.size.width;
UIButton *myButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[myButton addTarget:self action:#selector(dismissView:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
myButton.frame = CGRectMake(xOrigin, 10, 60, 35);
[myButton.layer setMasksToBounds:YES];
[myButton.layer setCornerRadius:10.0f];
myButton.layer.borderWidth = 2;
myButton.layer.borderColor = [[UIColor whiteColor] CGColor];
[myButton setTitle:#"Done" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
myButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor];
myButton.hidden = YES;
NSString *imageName = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"image%d.png", i];
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:imageName];
UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image];
imageView.frame = CGRectMake(xOrigin, 0, self.view.frame.size.width, self.view.frame.size.height);
UITapGestureRecognizer *recognizer = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:#selector(handleTap:)];
recognizer.numberOfTapsRequired = 1;
[imageView addGestureRecognizer:recognizer];
imageView.userInteractionEnabled = YES;
recognizer.delegate = self;
numberofTaps = 1;
[recognizer release];
[imageScrollView addSubview:imageView];
[imageScrollView addSubview:myButton];
// [imageScrollView addGestureRecognizer:tap];
// [imageView addSubview:tap];
[imageView release];
}
imageScrollView.contentSize = CGSizeMake(self.view.frame.size.width * numberOfViews, self.view.frame.size.height);
[self.view addSubview:imageScrollView];
[imageScrollView release];
}
EDIT: Howcome this works but when i only uncomment myButton.hidden= NO then it works but still doesn't shows my button DONE on the imageviews
- (void)handleTap:(UIGestureRecognizer*)sender {
// if(numberofTaps == 1){
CGPoint tapPoint = [sender locationInView:_imageScrollView];
int tapX = (int) tapPoint.x;
int tapY = (int) tapPoint.y;
NSLog(#"TAPPED X:%d Y:%d", tapX, tapY);
//_myButton.hidden = NO;
UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:#"Hello" message:#"How are you?" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:#"I'm awesome." otherButtonTitles:nil];
[alert show];
[alert release];
}
What is the reason that otherwise it is working but not showing Done UIButton.
First you have to find button which you have to show. So for that you will have to setTag: on your UIButton before adding them to scrollView
like this -
myButton.tag = i;
Then add tag to your UIImageView also before adding them to scrollView like this -
imageView.tag = i*100;
Now in handleTap: method you can compare tags and can get the button which you have to show.
-(void)handleTap:(UIGestureRecognizer *)sender
{
//getting all buttons of scrollView
for(UIButton *button in scrollView.subviews)
{
//comparing tags
if(button.tag == sender.view.tag/100)
{
button.hidden = NO;
}
}
}
Do this, remove your if Condition.
How to hide the UITabBar selection indicator for ios 4.3 not for 5+
I need to hide the selection indicator of the UITabBar controler in the ios 4.3.
Try this code:
// iOS 5.0+
[self.tabBar setSelectionIndicatorImage:[[[UIImage alloc] init]autorelease]];
// for earlier versions
- (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController {
[self customizeTabBar];
}
- (void)customizeTabBar {
NSString *imageName = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"tabBackground%i.png", tabBarCtrl.selectedIndex + 1];
for(UIView *view in tabBarCtrl.tabBar.subviews) {
if([view isKindOfClass:[UIImageView class]]) {
[view removeFromSuperview];
}
}
UIImageView *background = [[[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:imageName]] autorelease];
[tabBarCtrl.tabBar insertSubview:background atIndex:0];
[tabBarCtrl.tabBar bringSubviewToFront:background];
//if needed, here must be adding UILabels with titles, I didn't need it.
}
Hope it helps! :)
Its impossible, but you can try this trick.
On the controller(controller that is add to the TabBarController item) tabBarItem enable set to false
[controller.tabBarItem setEnabled:NO];
When TabBarController appear you can add button on the tabBarItem, in this case the button add to the center(TabbarItem is 5)
- (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated {
[super viewWillAppear:animated];
UIImage *buttonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"1.png"]
UIImage *highlightImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"1_selected.png"]
UIButton* button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
button.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleRightMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleLeftMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleBottomMargin | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleTopMargin;
button.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, buttonImage.size.width, buttonImage.size.height);
[button setBackgroundImage:buttonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[button setBackgroundImage:highlightImage forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[button addTarget:self action:#selector(centerCliked:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
CGFloat heightDifference = buttonImage.size.height - self.tabBar.frame.size.height;
if (heightDifference < 0)
button.center = self.tabBar.center;
else
{
CGPoint center = self.tabBar.center;
center.y = center.y - heightDifference/2.0 + 2;
button.center = center;
}
[self.view addSubview:button];
}
- (IBAction)centerClicked:(id)sender {
[self setSelectedIndex:2];
}
I followed the tutorial below to customize the UINavigationBar.
http://foobarpig.com/iphone/uinavigationbar-with-solid-color-or-image-background.html
I applied a background image in the UINavigationBar, however, I do not know how to customize the back button. At the moment, the default back button does not suits the look & feel of the customized UINavigationBar.
Please teach me how to change the background color or image of the default back button. Thank you.
I've written the following categories to customize the back button:
UIBarButtonItem+StyledButton.h
#interface UIBarButtonItem (StyledButton)
+ (UIBarButtonItem *)styledBackBarButtonItemWithTarget:(id)target selector:(SEL)selector;
+ (UIBarButtonItem *)styledCancelBarButtonItemWithTarget:(id)target selector:(SEL)selector;
+ (UIBarButtonItem *)styledSubmitBarButtonItemWithTitle:(NSString *)title target:(id)target selector:(SEL)selector;
#end
UIBarButtonItem+StyledButton.m
#implementation UIBarButtonItem (StyledButton)
+ (UIBarButtonItem *)styledBackBarButtonItemWithTarget:(id)target selector:(SEL)selector;
{
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"button_back"];
image = [image stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:20.0f topCapHeight:20.0f];
NSString *title = NSLocalizedString(#"Back", nil);
UIFont *font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:12.0f];
UIButton *button = [UIButton styledButtonWithBackgroundImage:image font:font title:title target:target selector:selector];
button.titleLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor];
CGSize textSize = [title sizeWithFont:font];
CGFloat margin = (button.frame.size.height - textSize.height) / 2;
CGFloat marginRight = 7.0f;
CGFloat marginLeft = button.frame.size.width - textSize.width - marginRight;
[button setTitleEdgeInsets:UIEdgeInsetsMake(margin, marginLeft, margin, marginRight)];
[button setTitleColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:53.0f/255.0f green:77.0f/255.0f blue:99.0f/255.0f alpha:1.0f] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
return [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button] autorelease];
}
+ (UIBarButtonItem *)styledCancelBarButtonItemWithTarget:(id)target selector:(SEL)selector;
{
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"button_square"];
image = [image stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:20.0f topCapHeight:20.0f];
NSString *title = NSLocalizedString(#"Cancel", nil);
UIFont *font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:12.0f];
UIButton *button = [UIButton styledButtonWithBackgroundImage:image font:font title:title target:target selector:selector];
button.titleLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor];
[button setTitleColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:53.0f/255.0f green:77.0f/255.0f blue:99.0f/255.0f alpha:1.0f] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
return [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button] autorelease];
}
+ (UIBarButtonItem *)styledSubmitBarButtonItemWithTitle:(NSString *)title target:(id)target selector:(SEL)selector;
{
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"button_submit"];
image = [image stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:20.0f topCapHeight:20.0f];
UIFont *font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:12.0f];
UIButton *button = [UIButton styledButtonWithBackgroundImage:image font:font title:title target:target selector:selector];
button.titleLabel.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
[button setTitleColor:[UIColor whiteColor] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
return [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button] autorelease];
}
UIButton+StyledButton.h
#interface UIButton (UIButton_StyledButton)
+ (UIButton *)styledButtonWithBackgroundImage:(UIImage *)image font:(UIFont *)font title:(NSString *)title target:(id)target selector:(SEL)selector;
#end
UIButton+StyledButton.m
#implementation UIButton (UIButton_StyledButton)
+ (UIButton *)styledButtonWithBackgroundImage:(UIImage *)image font:(UIFont *)font title:(NSString *)title target:(id)target selector:(SEL)selector
{
CGSize textSize = [title sizeWithFont:font];
CGSize buttonSize = CGSizeMake(textSize.width + 20.0f, image.size.width);
UIButton *button = [[[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, buttonSize.width, buttonSize.height)] autorelease];
[button addTarget:target action:selector forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[button setBackgroundImage:image forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[button setTitle:title forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[button.titleLabel setFont:font];
return button;
}
#end
It's easy to use, e.g.:
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = [UIBarButtonItem styledBackBarButtonItemWithTarget:self selector:#selector(dismissModalViewController)];
self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [UIBarButtonItem styledSubmitBarButtonItemWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(#"Done", nil) target:self selector:#selector(doneButtonTouched:)];
}
The above code is from a project that's still work-in-progress, so it could be cleaned up a bit, but it works as supposed to. Use images without text as buttons and make sure they're stretchable (i.e. don't make the images too small and be careful with gradients). The image of the back button in the following example is only 31 x 30 pixels, but it's stretched to make the text fit.
Some examples of the results:
Back button
Cancel / Done buttons
I have used this code a few times:
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
// Set the custom back button
UIImage *buttonImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"back_button.png"];
//create the button and assign the image
UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[button setImage:buttonImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
//set the frame of the button to the size of the image (see note below)
button.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, buttonImage.size.width, buttonImage.size.height);
[button addTarget:self action:#selector(back) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
//create a UIBarButtonItem with the button as a custom view
UIBarButtonItem *customBarItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = customBarItem;
// Cleanup
[customBarItem release];
}
-(void)back {
// Tell the controller to go back
[self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES];
}
From this website.
Hope it helps!
You have to build a custom UIButton and pass it to UIBarButton initWithCustomView.
Here is what you do.
1) Add custom buttons to your navigation item in the Interface Builder:
2) In the code do the following:
#define IS_IOS7 ([[[UIDevice currentDevice] systemVersion] compare:#"7.0" options:NSNumericSearch] != NSOrderedAscending)
- (void)viewDidLayoutSubviews {
[super viewDidLayoutSubviews];
if (IS_IOS7) {
[self shiftView:self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem.customView horizontallyBy:-11];
[self shiftView:self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem.customView horizontallyBy:11];
}
}
- (void)shiftView:(UIView*)view horizontallyBy:(int)offset {
CGRect frame = view.frame;
frame.origin.y += offset;
view.frame = frame;
}
Okay, a short breif of my app before i explain the problem.
My app has two views for it's custom TableViewCell, one frontview, and one backview(which is revealed once you swipe your finger across the cell, much like the twitter-app).
Anywho, i wanted to have some buttons on the backview. I did this in the cellForRowAtIndexPath-method
The first you'll see here is how i assign labels to the cells. The secondary thing you'll see is the button. It's working fine.
UILabel *nextArtist = [UILabel alloc];
nextArtist.text = #"Rihanna";
nextArtist.tag = 4;
[cell setNextArtist:nextArtist];
UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
button.frame = CGRectMake(6 ,31, 110, 20);
[button setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"radionorge.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[button addTarget:self action:#selector(touched:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[cell.backView addSubview:button];
But, it's in the next method the problem occours.
-(void)touched:(id)sender {
// Here i want to get the UILabels for each cell. Such as nextArtist.
if ([sender isKindOfClass:[UIButton class]]) {
UIButton *button = (UIButton *)sender;
UIView *contentView = button.superview;
UIView *viewWithTag4 = [contentView viewWithTag:4];
if ([viewWithTag1 isKindOfClass:[UILabel class]]) {
UILabel *titleLabel = (UILabel *)viewWithTag4;
NSLog(#"Label: ",titleLabel.text);
}
}
}
So, i realised that i cannot just go to the superview of the button and find my labels there, because their in another subview. I have scanned all my views, but still cannot find the label.
I am very new at this, and the subclassing of the TableView-cell is something i implemented from someone who posted their code.
But, my assumption is that there are noe UILabels in my view, because i am not adding them as views, only drawing them, with the drawTextInRect-function.
[nextArtist drawTextInRect:CGRectMake(boundsX+200 ,46, 110, 15)];
I have tried to adding them as subviews, but with no luck. Could anyone help me?
// Some more code you may need to solve the puzzle(this is where the cell-views are made)

[anotherView release];
// Backview must be added first!
// DO NOT USE sendSubviewToBack:

[self setContentViewMoving:NO];
[self setSelected:NO];
[self setShouldSupportSwiping:YES];
[self setShouldBounce:YES];
[self hideBackView];

return self;
}
Please help me, or at least point me in a direction or two!

Updated with some new code:
This is inside my RadioCustomCell, a UIView-subclass. It's here the UILabels are drawn
#import "RadioCustomCell.h"
#implementation RadioCustomCell
#synthesize nowTitle,nowArtist,nextTitle,nextArtist,ChannelImage;
// Setting the variables
- (void)setNowTitle:(UILabel *)aLabel {
if (aLabel != nowTitle){

[self setNeedsDisplay];
}
}
- (void)setNowArtist:(UILabel *)aLabel {
if (aLabel != nowArtist){
[nowArtist release];

[self setNeedsDisplay];
}
}
- (void)setNextTitle:(UILabel *)aLabel {
if (aLabel != nextTitle){
[nextTitle release];

[self setNeedsDisplay];
}
}
- (void)setChannelImage:(UIImage *)aImage {

[backgroundColour set];
CGContextFillRect(context, rect);
CGRect contentRect = self.contentView.bounds;
CGFloat boundsX = contentRect.origin.x;
[ChannelImage drawInRect:CGRectMake(boundsX+120 ,25, 75, 35)];
nowTitle.enabled = YES;
nowTitle.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter;

You just forgot to init your UILabel in your very first line of code. :)
At the first look, I can be sure that if you draw the text (and the text is not the label), then there is no UILabel at all in your cell. You can ignore that way.
So, if you don't have the UILabel, how you can get the text. Because your contentView is indeed a RadioTableCellView, then it is not hard. In your class, just public a property called nextArtist. When your button is tapped, look up for the contentView (by calling some superview), cast it to RadioTableCellView then get the nextArtist out
Without writing a bunch of code, here's my best guess.
You're going to need to assign tags to aView and anotherView in your initWithStyle: method. I'm going to assume you have a couple constants: BACK_VIEW_TAG and FRONT_VIEW_TAG.
In your touched: method, walk up the view hierarchy until you find your UITableViewCell.
UIView *currentView = button.superView;
while (![currentView isKindOfClass:UITableViewCell] && currentView != nil) {
currentView = currentView.parent;
}
Get the front view and back view (or which ever you want) from the table cell's contentView using the tags.
if (currentView != nil) {
UITableViewCell *cellView = (UITableViewCell *)currentView)
UIView *cellContentView = cellView.contentView;
UIView *backView = [cellContentView viewWithTag:BACK_VIEW_TAG];
UIView *frontView = [cellContentView viewWithTag:FRONT_VIEW_TAG];
// Get other views from frontView and backView using viewWithTag:.
}
Note that you should be adding views to your UITableViewCell subclass's contentView, not to the UITableViewCell directly. See Programmatically Adding Subviews to a Cell’s Content View for details.
