UITableView Cell control customize - iphone

I need to customize an UITableview control like the picture,
Here i need to place the RE-ORDERING control to left side, is it possible here?

# Harish Saran -- You can customize table view cell. Just create on class(customCell.h) extending tableviewcell. In that class create buttons/ImageView whatever you want. and place in cell's contentview.
Now in your cellForRowAtIndexPath method create cell object of customCell.h, and just assign image for button/ImageView allocated in customCell.h

table view cells with different controls

I was working with the grouped table view , and i wanted different controls for every row i.e switch control for 1st,radio button for 2nd ,checkbox for 3rd and so on.. how can this be implemented programmatically that is without using interface builder
thanks in advance
CharlieMezak said is right, you need to create in UIControls directly in cellForRowAtIndexPath , and add as subviews to contentView of the cell
For reference see the link below
http://www.e-string.com/content/custom-uitableviewcells-interface-builder
the link specifies the code to create cells programmatically as well as using IB.
Table View Programming Guide for iOS
Read the programing guide, and remember to use different CellIdentifier for each type of cell.
This is a pretty vague question.
Obviously you need to provide the cells to the tableview in its cellForRowAtIndexPath delegate/datasource method. So, either in that method or during the initialization of your view controller, build the UITableViewCell instances that you need, adding the various controls that you want to them as subviews and connecting the controls to your view controller so you can detect when they have been changed. Then just return the appropriate cell in the cellForRowAtIndexPath method.
Personally, I think it's a lot easier to use IB in cases like this. Just create an IBOutlet instance variable for each custom cell you want, and return the right cell in cellForRowAtIndexPath.

Insert ScrollView in TableView?

I have a TableView with one cell and I want to insert in this cell a lot of text so I think I'll need to use a ScrollView for scroll the text.
How can I insert? Is correct this method?
This is a help in the application, is correct use this modality?
Sorry but I'm a beginner and I don't have an iPhone or iPod, thanks!
While I concur with 7KV7's original comment, it doesn't look like there is need of a tableview in this scenario...
Just in case someone else happens upon this looking for an answer to the "Scrollview in a Tableview" question here are few clarifying points for the above comments.
The technical problem with having a tableview and a scrollview together on the same view is that UITableView is already a descendent of UIScrollView and if you attempt to handle both in the same view then you will end up with quite a mess with conflicting delegate messages.
As suggested by iPhonePgr, you can create a custom UITableViewCell. The first thought would be to let the UITableViewCell act as the delegate for it's own scroll view. The problem here is that the cell and it's contents could be discarded or reused at any moment as part of tableview's dequeue functionality.
So some ground rules to guide your implementation:
Whatever your solution, you're probably going to end up making a custom controller class, possibly derived from NSObject and implementing UIScrollViewDelegate.
The custom controller object acts as the mediator between the model object and the cell.
You will probably have an array or array-of-arrays that mirrors the model hierarchy driving the UITableView structure.
Because the cells can be discarded at any time you will have restore the scroll view state on cell initialization and preserve the state has part of handling your delegate actions or through a custom UITableViewCell implementing prepareForReuse.
Hopefully these points will come in useful to anyone who runs across this entry.
You need to create a custom cell by inheriting UITableViewCell and then add UIScrollView in the customcell. Then Use that cell in the Table view.
you can put your text in UITextView and add it as a subview in your UITableViewCell, because
UITextView is inherited from UIScrollView,
No need to add UIScrollView if you use UITextView
When you create UITableView you implement a number of delegate method which you can see by pressing the window key and then double clicking the UITableView delegate . In one of the methods you can set the cell height as per your requirement. By doing this your cell height can vary.
- (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)resultTableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
{
return 150;
}
As your table has a defined height, when the text in cell will be too much to contain into a scrollview will be automatically inserted.

How to do edit-in-place in a UITableView?

Is there a standard way to set up a table to allow editing-in-place, kind of like this:
I only need editable text at the moment, but I might need UISwitches or UISliders in the future.
Yep. Just add a UITextField, with its font and textColor set to appropriate values, as subviews of the table cell's contentView. You probably want to give the field a tag as well, so that you can easily grab a reference to it using the contentView's -viewWithTag: method.
With short forms you can get away with keeping an array of cells, one for each field, and handing them off to the table view without going through the -dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: mechanism, but if you've got a lot of stuff to enter then it gets more complicated. In that case, you probably want to assign a different reuse identifier to each type of cell—one for text-field cells, one for switch cells, one for slider cells, etc. Once you've dequeued or created the row's cell, you'd then grab its control from the content view (as above) and set its value from wherever you've stored that.
Edit in-place using a "Content: Static Cells" and make it look like a default styled UITableviewCell.
In UITableView create two cells: one Custom and one Subtitle Styled.
Copy the "title" label corresponding to the Subtitle styled UITableViewCell to the Custom UITableViewCell.
In Custom UITableViewCell, drop a UITextField. Copy in this the style parameters from the Detail UILabel from Subtitle Styled UITableViewCell in this UITextField.
Do the necessary arrangements.
The looks pretty equal, aren't they?
Now, do the IBoutlet stuff.

Adding a subview to UITableCellView

I want to add a subview to the UITableCellView class. However, non of the provided views in the class seem to be able to do exactly what I was looking for.
I basically want to add my own background view, filling the whole cell. However, if I replace the backgroundView, the style from the grouped table view layout isn't displayed anymore. If I add a subview to backgroundView, the subview is not shown at all. If I add a subview to the contentView, I can't draw behind the accessory icon.
What am I missing?
Basically you can't change the backgorund of GroupedTable View.
Try using it with PlainTable.
and add the your backgroung image (of size = cellsize) to cellforRowAtIndex method.
You might want to take a look at this article:
"Easy custom UITableView Drawing"
In particular:
First: the UITableView does not itself
draw anything except the background.
To customize the background of a
UITableView, all you need to do is set
its backgroundColor to [UIColor
clearColor] and you can draw your own
background in a view behind the
UITableView.
Simply add the custom view as part of your contentView. Set a unique reuse identifier for that cell, configure it when you create it and from then on simply reset the data components (this is easiest to do if you create a custom cell controller class so that it can track all the parts and use setters/getters for the data).

Multiple images per row in UITableView's cell

Is there any sample code that would illustrate how to have multiple images within each row?
Typical apps show a thumbnail to the left side with text to the right. I'd like to do that plus an image to the right of the text.
How would I go about doing this?
In interface builder, simply create a tableview cell that looks like you want. Then create a UITableViewCell subclass that has properties pointing to the elements of the new cell. Set the class of cell to the subclass then add cells of that class to the table in the standard way.
A tableview cell is just a view and you modify it and use it just like any other view.
You'll have to create a custom UITableView cell. Here's an example of using multiple UILabels in one. Here's another.
Pretty easy - follow Apple's documentation to create exactly the cell you want in Interface Builder with as many UIImage or whatever else you like. Look at Table View Programming Guide for details on how to make and load the custom cells - just be careful about performance when you put a lot of visual elements in a table view.
