I need to set intial value for DateInputElement. The .dart file has a variable dob with initial value:
String dob='01/01/2013'
and html has
<input id='mydob' type='date' name='dob' required='true' bind-value='dob'/>
dob is not shown when UI is displayed. The control shows mm/dd/yyyy.
If I select a date on UI, the date value is populated in dob variable.
Although bind-value sets two way binding, still tried setting the value to dob as follows without success:
<input id='mydob' type='date' name='dob' required='true' value={{dob}} bind- value='dob'/>
Also tried the following in life cycle events but did not work:
DateInputElement e = query('#mydob');
e.value=dob;
The format you are trying to put into the field is wrong. It's supposed to be 2013-01-01 (YYYY-MM-DD) according to the RFC. This is completely independent from dart or any other binding.
I would add that it is nessary to have the 0. So it is 2013-01-01 and not 2013-1-1

I'm currently working on a html form with input type="date" fields.
Unfortunately Safari 15 sets current date as a default value in every empty date field.
Is there a way to set the default to empty? Like in Chrome dd-mm-yyyy.
Thank you! :)
When I create a post, in the front matter I have to insert layout, title, date etc. My concern is regarding date front matter. It is very inconvenient to insert date time and time offset in date field manually.
I'm not able to figure out how to do this automatically. I want the front matter date to update automatically with system time.
The date variable in front matter is an optional variable that you can set to be able to override the date that you set when you title your post according what Jekyll is looking for (i.e. 2019-12-14-post-title.md). It should only refer to the date the post was originally made, and not the current system date. Except for certain edge cases, you really shouldn't have to define date in the front matter.
You can use Liquid templating to post the current time to a page by passing the "now" keyword to date in your liquid template as follows:
This page was last updated at {{ "now" | date: "%Y-%m-%d %H:%M" }}.
to get the the output:
This page was last updated at 2019-12-14 17:48.
However this method has a big drawback for Jekyll usage, because it will refer to the current date when the page was last generated from the template and not when the page is being visited by the user.
The best way to access the current system time is likely to use javascript instead. This is fairly easy depending on your familiarity with the language, but essentially you can make a Date object and then output the info you are looking to display. Here is a quick snippet I made that shows a couple methods that act on the Date object to output different values such as the date, time, and year:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>
<h3>The toDateString() method converts a date to a date string:</h3>
<p id="demo1"></p>
<h3>The toLocaleTimeString() method outputs formatted time:</h3>
<p id="demo2"></p>
<h3>The getFullYear() method outputs the year:</h3>
<p id="demo3"></p>
<script>
// create date object
var d = new Date();
// use toDateString() to output formatted date
document.getElementById("demo1").innerHTML = d.toDateString();
// use toLocaleTimeString() to output formatted time
document.getElementById("demo2").innerHTML = d.toLocaleTimeString();
// use getFullYear() to output year
document.getElementById("demo3").innerHTML = d.getFullYear();
</script>
</body>
</html>
W3schools has a good rundown of the Date object and how to format output if you need more examples and reference on usage.
If you need to know how to use Javascript with Jekyll there is a helpful post on Jekyll Talk that will help.
First of all, you do not HAVE to insert 'layout, title, date etc'. You can use Front Matter defaults for them. This only makes sense for the layout as the title can or should be default, nor the date.
The date MUST be set in your filename and can be overridden in the Front Matter. Please note that this is ONLY true for the built-in collection posts. If you use a custom collection you do not need a date at all.
However, if you choose to use posts nevertheless and you want to add the date automatically, there is only one real option: Use a CMS that automates this input, like Forestry.io or CloudCannon.
I would think this is relatively straight forward but cant find documentation on how to do it(or the correct syntax to use) and my messing around hasn't worked so far.
For Dates we have a custom format called Month /Day /Year. This pulls back a the date(as a date type) in date format as such:
"14 April 2003"
The code behind this is:
(DATEPART('year', [Close Date])*10000 + DATEPART('month', [Close Date])*100 + DATEPART('day', [Close Date]))
What I want to get back is the month is numeric format like:
"14.04.2003"
Is it simply changing the "month" part in the code to a different type? Has any one come across this?
Cheers
lampbob, I'd just use date formatting which will mean you will still be able to use all the date-fields flexibility that Tableau provides.
Select Custom format with the following input:
dd.mm.yyyy
See the screen below for more details:
This can be easily achieved using the 'Format' option in Tableau. Here are the steps to follow to format the date field as you have specified.
Add Date field to your Rows/Columns field on a Tableau worksheet.
Set the format of the Date to be DAY(Date).
Click on options for 'DAY(Date)' and go to 'Format...'
On the Format DAY(Date) panel, go to Scale -> Dates.
Select 'Custom' option and type in 'mm.dd.yyyy'. Now the date will be in the string format you need.

String format for date,
Changing to 'DAY' and 'Format...'
If you are only concerned about how the date is presented, then leave the datatype as a date, and use a custom format string via the format pane to display it as desired.
Followed your advice and just had to change the date pill, in the column field, to a continuous value. Then right clicked -> format -> Scale -> custom. Then used the above suggested format setting. Thanks Petr, woodhead92.
I have a date list field and need to replace a value in the list with another value
so I have this list of type "date list"
The user enter a new value in a date field in the webpage. This new value should be added to in this case the second item in the date list, but it in the real case it should be able to be added to any position in the list
This is the inputfield where user enter a new date
<xp:inputText id="inputText1">
<xp:this.converter>
<xp:convertDateTime pattern="yyyy-MM-dd"></xp:convertDateTime>
</xp:this.converter>
</xp:inputText>
This is the code I use in my button that should replace the date
doc is a data source on the XPage
var v:java.util.Vector = doc.getDocument().getItemValueDateTimeArray("TDate")
v.setElementAt(getComponent("inputText1").getValue(),1)
doc.replaceItemValue("TDate",v)
doc.save()
Not sure what I am doing wrong here, but I seem to have two problems, first the field only seem to contain one element after I save, and secondly the date that is added contain both date and time, and not only the date
This is the result after running the code
Running the same kind of code using a multivalue "text" field works fine.
how can I modify my code so that my replace operation in the date list works
to set a date value without the time part
get a DateTime object and call the function setAnyTime() on the NDT object and replace the item
to set a specific time value in a multivalue datetime field
get the field you will get a vector with all the datetime object.
Get the specific timedate in the vector change it and set it back to the vector. and after that replace the item
When I set a default value formula for a date parameter in SSRS, such as:
=CDate(”01/” & Month(Now) & “/” & Year(Now))
or even:
=Now
the date parameter control becomes disabled with nothing in it. Does anyone know what simple thing (I am sure) I am doing wrong?
After playing some more, I realized that the date controls became enabled when I picked a value from a preceding dropdown parameter that did not have a default. Apparently, controls after non-default parameters are disabled until you pick something, so order matters.
From an MDSN article:
"parameter order is important when you want to show users the default value for one parameter before they choose values for other parameters"
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281392.aspx
I experienced the same and the problems lies on the USER ID parameter that I set to internal visibility but without any default value. When I put in default value or set this to null, the date parameter was enabled.. (User ID parameter comes before the date parameter on my case)
Now is a function and you must use like =Now()
maybe it is your problem.
