add eventViewController not showing anything - iphone

I'm currently working on a agenda part of an app. I managed to show all my events and also go to the details from it and edit it. But when I want to add an event it shows me an empty view. I should mention that I have a custom datasource for my calendar.
To edit an Event I just do this in my ViewController.
EKEventViewController *vc = [[EKEventViewController alloc] init];
vc.event = [dataSource eventAtIndexPath:indexPath];
vc.allowsEditing = YES;
[calendar.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES];
This is showing me the correct VC with the correct event.
Now this is my code for adding a event.
EKEventEditViewController *addController = [[EKEventEditViewController alloc]init];
// set the addController's event store to the current event store.
addController.eventStore = self.eventStore;
addController.editing = YES;
// present EventsAddViewController as a modal view controller
[self presentModalViewController:addController animated:YES];
addController.editViewDelegate = dataSource;
But when I run it I get an empty viewController. Can anybody help me with this?
Kind regards.

I'm guessing that you didn't create the event store. I looked at Apple's demo program, and I could eliminate all but 4 lines, and still get that edit controller to show up:
#import <EventKitUI/EventKitUI.h>
#implementation ViewController
-(IBAction)doStuff:(id)sender {
EKEventEditViewController *addController = [[EKEventEditViewController alloc]init];
addController.eventStore = [[EKEventStore alloc] init];
[self presentViewController:addController animated:YES completion:nil];
}

issue in DDMenuController menuViewController like facebook

My First Question
DDMenuController(facebook split menu) Must be on RootviewController? it can not be on other viewController which we push on rootViewCotroller?
if answer is no then
Second Question
i am trying to make split viewController like facebook for that i am using this sample
https://github.com/devindoty/DDMenuController
now what i want to do is i dont want set DDMenuControl as rootviewcontroller in appdelegate in my rootcontrollers there are view buttons which push my all other ViewController
so what i want is from my rootViewController' Buttons i push another controller and then that view should get pushed and same time there should be DDMenuController too
so what will happen is on navigation bar there wont be back button there will be splitting screen button like facebook and from there i can go to another view controller
now let me tell you what i have achieved so far my rootViewController is getting displayed and then from there i push my other ViewController and on navigation bar splitting button is also getting displayed but its not working let me should you code to make this all clear
this is how i set my rootViewContoller in app delegate
- (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary
*)launchOptions
{
FirstPadViewController *mainController = [[FirstPadViewController alloc] init];
navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:mainController];
self.window.rootViewController = navController;
self.window.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
[self.window makeKeyAndVisible];
return YES;
}
so it get displayed with some buttons from where i can push my other viewController
this is how i push my other ViewController
- (IBAction)goToCamera:(id)sender {
AROverlayPadViewController *svController = [[AROverlayPadViewController alloc] init];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:svController animated:YES];
[svController release];
svController = nil;
}
so AROverlayPadViewController is getting pushed
and in AROverlayPadViewController's viewWillAppear this is what i do for achieving splitting screen like facebook
-(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated{
DDMenuController *rootController = [[DDMenuController alloc] initWithRootViewController:self];
LeftController *leftController = [[LeftController alloc] init];
rootController.leftViewController = leftController;
}
splitting button is getting displayed but when i press it is not working
now i really dont have any clue what to do any help will be highly appreciated
Answering the first question: actually it's a yes. This is how you do it, in the method that sends you to your nextScreen:
-(void) goToAnotherController {
OtherViewController *nextScreen = [OtherViewController alloc] init];
UINavigationController *navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:nextScreen];
DDMenuController *menuController = (DDMenuController*)((AppDelegate*) [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]).menuController;
[menuController setRootController:navController animated:YES];
}

Call method in viewDidAppear

I've set up a void method which is called from another class if the user touches the button.
However, I got this error with "whose view is not in window hierarchy" and then I found this: whose view is not in the window hierarchy. I just want to call the method below but I got this error and it doesn't show me the navigatoncontroller. It says Warning: Attempt to present <UINavigationController: 0xae34f10> on <ViewController: 0xae1f200> whose view is not in the window hierarchy!
I don't know if this is possible to call the method from the viewDidAppear or from somewhere that it only works if the button was tapped on the other view before. If I call a NSLog in the method it shows me the NSLog in the output. Only the presenting of the navController doesn't seems to work. I would be happy if someone could help me with this.
My method:
- (void) launchGalleryView
{
MWPhotoBrowser *browser = [[MWPhotoBrowser alloc] initWithDelegate:self];
// Set browser options.
browser.wantsFullScreenLayout = YES;
browser.displayActionButton = NO;
UINavigationController *navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:browser];
NSMutableArray *photos = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
MWPhoto *photo;
photo = [MWPhoto photoWithFilePath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"calculator" ofType:#"jpg"]];
photo.caption = #"The calculator is soo beauteful...";
[photos addObject:photo];
self.photos = photos;
[self presentModalViewController:navController animated:YES];
}
Just forgot to say: The MWPhotoprowser is a class which actually does't matter.
Thanks in advance.
The error message is pretty clear -- you're trying to present the controller from this class, but the class that has the button you pressed is the one whose view is in the view hierarchy. You either need to present it from the class with the button, or get back to this class however you're doing that, and then call it after viewDidAppear.
i checked your project.. wasn't able to sort out the proper issue..
but i tried a hack and it worked..
replace this line with
[self presentModalViewController:navController animated:YES];
this
[[[[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] window] rootViewController] presentModalViewController:navController animated:YES];

Populate Table With Help of PopOverController - Objective C

I am using a UIButton, on clicking it I want to display the contents that are present in my NSMutableArray in UITableView with the help of UIPopOverController i.e. I want a UITableView to pop up whose cells show the contents of my NSMutableArray.
I am using the following lines of code:
UITableViewController *table= [[UITableViewController alloc]init];
table.delegate = self;
UIPopoverController *popover = [[UIPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:table];
self.popoverController = popover;
popoverController.delegate = self;
NSString *hDir = [NSHomeDirectory() stringByAppendingPathComponent:#"Documents"];
NSString *hFilePath = [hisDir stringByAppendingPathComponent:#"hhhh.txt"];
NSArray *array = [NSArray arrayWithContentsOfFile:hFilePath ];
NSMutableArray *kkkk = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
for (NSDictionary *dict in array) {
[kkkk addObjectsFromArray:[dict allKeys]];
}
table = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:[window bounds]];
// Set up the image view and add it to the view but make it hidden
[window addSubview:table];
table.hidden = YES;
[window makeKeyAndVisible];
I am unable to get the UITableView to pop up on the press of my UIButton. Can anyone help me to sort it out?
One way to show the UITableView in the UIPopOverController is by creating a new UIViewController class. And invoking it in initWithContentViewController method of UIPopOverController.
1. Create a new UIViewController or UITableViewController class. Create an instance of it.
2. Use the instance in the initWithContentViewController method of UIPopOverController.
3. Mention from where it should "pop"
For Example in your Button action :
-(IBAction)yourButtonAction:(id)sender
{
YourNewViewController*newVC=[[YourNewViewController alloc]init];
UIPopoverController*somePopOver=[[UIPopoverController alloc]initWithContentViewController:catergoryVC]; //Tell which view controller should be shown
[somePopOver setPopoverContentSize:CGSizeMake(200, 200)]; // set content size of popover
[somePopOver presentPopoverFromRect:yourButton.frame inView:self.view permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionUp animated:YES]; //From where it should "pop"
}
It seems you want to present it from a UIBarButtonItem so instead of presentPopoverFromRect use presentPopoverFromBarButtonItem
[somePopOver presentPopoverFromBarButtonItem:yourBarButtonItem permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionAny animated:YES];
If you want to display popover on press of button click, then first add your button in viewcontroller, display that view controller as follows:
In app delegate write code:
MyViewController *viewController = [[MyViewController alloc] init];
[self.window addSubView:viewController.view];
In MyViewController add button and provide target to that button displayPopup as follows:
-(void)displayPopup:(id)sender
{
UITableViewController *tblViewPopover = [[UITableViewController alloc] init];
tblViewPopover.tableView.delegate = self;
tblViewPopover.tableView.dataSource = self;
tblViewPopover.tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
tblViewPopover.tableView.separatorStyle= UITableViewCellSeparatorStyleSingleLine;
float theWidth = 280;
tblViewPopover.contentSizeForViewInPopover = CGSizeMake(theWidth,200);
if(m_popOvrController){
[m_popOvrController dismissPopoverAnimated:NO];
[m_popOvrController release];
m_popOvrController=nil;
}
m_popOvrController = [[UIPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:tblViewPopover];
[tblViewPopover release];
[m_popOvrController presentPopoverFromRect:sender.frame inView:self.view permittedArrowDirections:UIPopoverArrowDirectionAny animated:NO];
}
and you can use tableview delegate methods to display data in tableview.
I think, UIPopoverViewController is initialized using UIViewController and here you are using UIView(UITableView).
Can you please try using UITableViewController instead?
Also, if things does not work according to plan when you create it using the code try using an XIB explicitely.
This should help.

Two UIViews for one ViewController

I'm not sure how to do this. So I originally had a ViewController that had one .xib, with one main view. I present it like this:
DogViewController *dvc = [[DogViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"DogViewController" bundle:nil];
dvc.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet;
dvc.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal;
[self presentModalViewController:dvc animated:YES];
[dvc release];
So that works fine. However now from a button press in the DogViewController.xib, I want to dismiss the current form sheet, and show another form sheet with some additional questions before proceeding. So I started by adding another view to in my original .xib of DogViewController, then got stuck in the logic of how to dismiss the first one, and show the second one. I'm assuming I need some outlet to the new view in the same .xib, but from there I'm lost. Thanks.
The way to do this would be to set it up with a UINavigationController as Mathiew mentions. However, if you really want to transition between two views on one view controller, you can refer to this sample code from Apple:
http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#samplecode/ViewTransitions/Introduction/Intro.html
The code uses ImageViews to demonstrate the effect but I don't see why you can't use views instead :)
You can add a view within the other view in front of all of the other objects and just use its hidden property to control whether it's shown or not.
Why don't you use a navigation controller in your modal view, create another xib and do a [self.navigationController pushViewController:secondViewController animated:YES];
If you have a good reason, you can set a second view outlet secondView and use code like
UIView* superview = [self.view superview];
[self.view removeFromSuperView];
[superview addSubview:self.secondView];
Very simple solution is to hold reference to MainViewController and call methods on it that swap between two view controllers.
Like this:
#implementation MainViewController
- (void)showDogViewController {
[self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES];
DogViewController *dvc = [[DogViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"DogViewController" bundle:nil];
dvc.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet;
dvc.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal;
dvc.mainViewController = self;
[self presentModalViewController:dvc animated:YES];
[dvc release];
}
- (void)showCatViewController {
[self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES];
CatViewController *cvc = [[CatViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"CatViewController" bundle:nil];
cvc.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet;
cvc.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal;
cvc.mainViewController = self;
[self presentModalViewController:cvc animated:YES];
[dvc release];
}
}
#end
#implementation DogViewController
- (void)showCatViewController {
[mainViewController showCatViewController]
}
#end
#implementation CatViewController
- (void)showDogViewController {
[mainViewController showDogViewController]
}
#end

iphone presentModalViewController

I have an app, inside that an UIViewController is attached on the UIWindow.
on the view of UIViewController, i have added a button and a uiview_1 of size 100x80.
this uiview_1 contains another uiview_2 as subview of same size and this uiview_2 contains a UIImageView or a UIlable at runtime (both UIImageView and UIlable are userinteraction enabled)
now on the touch/click of UIImageView, i want to show a new view using presentModalViewController, the problem is the view is shown and using back button on the navigation bar i come to the previous/main screen.
here the problem come in picture, now i am unable to touch the button or the UIImageView.
both are not responding, but app is not crashed and nor frozen.
what is wrong in that?
Plz help in this...
----- EDIT:
Approach First:
SWVController *swvController = [[SWVController alloc] init];
UINavigationController *viewNavController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:swvController];
UIViewController *pushController = [[UIViewController alloc] init];
UIWindow *win = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] keyWindow];
[win addSubview:pushController.view];
[pushController presentModalViewController:viewNavController animated:YES];
In the swvController i have back button that calls the dismissModelViewController on click >> result is the Main screen ctrls are not responding to touch – sandy 3 hours ago
Second approach:
SWVController *swvController = [[SWVController alloc] init];
UINavigationController *viewNavController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:swvController];
UIViewController *pushController = [[UIViewController alloc] init];
[self addSubview:pushController.view];
[pushController presentModalViewController:viewNavController animated:YES];
In the swvController i have back button that calls the dismissModelViewController on click >> result is the swvController's back button on navbar is not responding – sandy 3 hours ago
3rd approach:
SWVController *swvController = [[SWVController alloc] init];
UINavigationController *viewNavController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:swvController];
SampleAppAppDelegate *appdel = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [appdel.viewController presentModalViewController:viewNavController animated:YES];
>> result is working fine, but the problem is i dont want to use SampleAppAppDelegate,i want to give my small Uiview (100x80) as a ctrl to other person , where my ctrl will not able to get the AppDelegate of thet app at run time. – sandy 3 hours ago
Call this method when you want to present the modal view controller:
- (IBAction)showInfo {
FlipsideViewController *controller = [[FlipsideViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"FlipsideView" bundle:nil];
controller.delegate = self;
controller.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal;
[self presentModalViewController:controller animated:YES];
[controller release];
}
Add this method to your self:
- (void)flipsideViewControllerDidFinish:(FlipsideViewController *)controller {
[self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES];
}
Use a toolbar or other button and connect it to this method in your modal view controller:
- (IBAction)done {
[self.delegate flipsideViewControllerDidFinish:self];
}
All code comes from Apple.
How did you handled click/touch on UIImageView? TouchesBegan/Ended?
Try putting some logs (NSLog) and run your app in debug mode (put some breakpoints) to see if control reaches your action method...
Also, when you do presentModalViewController, you do not need to POP out with back button on navigation bar... you only need to dismissModelViewController to hide it.
