I have installed Magento 1.7.0.0 on my local server and added new categories and products in my Magentoshop. But it is not shown on the homepage (frontend-myshop).. .
How can I fix it?
Check the following things:
Make sure the products are set to active/visible
Make sure all categories and products are inside one 'root' category
Look in the right category page.
If the products aren't showing in the parent category, make sure the parent category is set to Anchor (in admin, go to Catalog > Categories and in the right category, there is an option 'Is anchor', set this to 'yes'.
For example, if you have a category 'Electronics' with sub-categories 'Computers' and 'Tablets', Electronics needs to be set to anchor if you want products from Computers and Tablets to show there.
There is one additional effect to 'anchor' categories, which you may not want. Setting a category to 'anchor' activates something Magento calls 'layered navigation', which is basically some extra sorting and filtering options. I don't know how to disable this, but if you don't want this feature to show, the easiest solution is to hide the block/div with CSS.

I'm developing an application. How to make Panel so that the text fields should autofill/autoload when the user enters data second time
I think I understand what you mean, on editing their data it should prepopulate the fields.
To achieve this you need to use .setValue() on the controls to tell the control which data is should have selected/populated with.
Edit:
Based on comment feedback, if you want data to be auto selected on refresh you still need to save it somewhere. No other site can do this without it saved somewhere, whether locally on the users machine, or within a session of some sort or other options. This is not an issue with ExtJS. Once saved somewhere, wherever that may be, you could retrieve and set the values using the above, although I think it may be overcomplicating things, how often would a user accidently refresh the page and expect it to hold the data?

I'm developing a site that allows a user to create an order for a product based on "One of those, one of those, three of them, that much of that" etc to end up with a shopping list them can print out and take to their local store and show to a Customer Adviser "I'd like this product with these items in please".
I'd also like to have a Like button or something similar where you can post your results to your Facebook account - "Look what I'm buying!" sort of thing. Maybe even a link back to the client website.
I'm ultra new to the Facebook API - is anything like this possible? Have seen similar sort of ideas with people like Levi; is it possible to send complex text data to Facebook in this way rather than just "Like" a page, as the page results will be different for different users?

Hi i want to make an feed reading application that it should look like this
Here i want to make an application that reads data from different websites. The data should be seperate in category wise and should the number of updates should come in badges with respect to different category.
But i got a problem that there is no availability of creating badges inside a view like the picture in the above, there is only possibility to create on application icon, Please help me in which way i can achieve the target like in the picture. What should i use to create icons like NEWS, ADVISORS etc like in picture and how can we use badges in those icons inside a view.

First i would like to share something related to RSS Feeds. These are in XML Format. If you see the XML of feeds you will easily get the category of the feed.
For badges i would like to suggest create icons with empty badges (i.e, without numbers) and add labels fit into the red badge area. update labels from your code with number of updates.

I've been having some difficulty designing a search and login function for my app. I have a list of video's with titles, and I need to create a search function (much like the youtube app) to search through the list. What would be the best way to go about doing this? Search the video's before they get fetched, and display the results, or search through the array after it's been fetched.
I also need to connect with an apache server to login in my app, and display unique content.
I haven't been able to find any samples on the matter.

Your question is too vague. There are many paths that you can take. Your videos can be searchable on your remote apache server, or your iOS app can download the list of videos and search locally. This depends on the number of videos.
Best way is to have a table view with a list, and a search field on top. To get to this table view, the iOS app asks the user to login. If it's valid, then it shows the table/search views.

I have a portal and I want to click one of the items to switch layout and view the record associated with the clicked item.
How do I that?
For future reference, the way to do this is as follows:
Right-click on the portal row and click "Button Setup"
Choose "Go to Related Record"
Under Specify, select the table which contains the related record you want to go to
Select the layout that you would like to display the related record on
You can then limit the related result options if you like.
