I am trying to use the filepicker.io widget. I would like to save the event.fbfile.url in a mysql database. Would i use a .get with jquery to save the image url? Code examples would be helpful. Thank you for your help. Below is the code widget.
<input name="img" data-fp-class="form-simple-action-btn filepicker_launcher" data-fp-button-text="Choose Image" data-fp-services="COMPUTER,FACEBOOK,FLICKR,INSTAGRAM,PICASA" data-fp-container="modal" data-fp-mimetypes="image/*" type="filepicker" data-fp-apikey="AmKDQg1vZRBatEqkUY6Qxz" data-onchange="console.log(event.fpfile.url)" id='campaign-img-input'">
You'll need some server side code to write to your database.
If this is part of an html form, the url will appear in the form when submitted and you can save it to your db just like any other part of your form.
If this is not part of a form, you can probably set up a simple server side endpoint that you can do an ajax post to and that when you post data to the endpoint, it will save the data into your mysql.
If you provide more detail about how your system is set up and how you are currently writing to your database, I can probably be more helpful.

I have a textarea that I first print some values coming from a request.getParameter("some_textarea_name"). The user is allowed to modify those values and then I want to get the new values and replace the old ones with the new ones so as to query the new ones and get the results from my database tables. Can I do that without redirecting the user to a new page e.g without using the <form method> and the request.getParameter()
Can I do that without redirecting the user
Yes, you can implement an ajax call that will submit the form without redirecting the user and you can do something with the response (perhaps add it to the page).
If you need help using ajax follow this tutorial, but be aware that it implements AJAX in pure javascript (its a bit more bloated / complicated). If you want to keep it simple look into jQuery ajax, and here is a tutorial too.

No, you need to use the form to be submitted, however if you use ajax you wont need to redirect the user.
I want to set up a login page in which from anywhere on the site I can send a user to it and it will display a custom message along with it. I could use a redirect and a msg query param but is this the best way to do it?
I'm working with node.js but I'm interested in a universal solution.
If you are going for easy, you can just have GET data in the URL. But, that doesn't look that nice, if you want a rather long message, plus, GET has size restrictions, where POST (virtually) hasn't.
For using post data you could use the solution of this: JavaScript post request like a form submit question, but that gives a rather messy source code (if you want a somewhat longer text).
You could keep them in a database, and only send the ID of the message to a PHP page, and get it from the database (that's what I would do, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea, just amateur here!)
You can use jQuery or simply plain javascript to extract your message from the url; the relevant question that listed links to detailed code: jquery get querystring from URL.
Then depending on how you want it displayed, apply the extracted string to your situation.
With the iPhone UiWebView is it possible to prefill an html form with username and other
account details that are stored in the app's data folder. Using iOS 5.1 sdk
So I would need to read the file with the customers's information stored and then prefill the web form from the UIWebView. I need to know if this can be done and if so any tutorials how to do it would be useful.
Thanks
You could read the data from your app's bundle then run a JavaScript function that takes the data as parameters and uses it to pre-populate the form.
You can execute the Javascript in your UIWebView by using the method
stringByEvaluatingJavaScriptFromString:
I'm not a JavaScript expert so I don't want to comment on the best way to write the JavaScript function to pre-populate the form but I know its possible.
I'm looking to pass data from a form into an iFrame, but I have a slight problem.
The form page I can edit with no restrictions
The page I send the data to I cannot edit unless its html or JavaScript
The data needs to end up in an iframe within this page, which I can edit with no restrictions
I'm incorporating a search function into a CMS system which is why I cannot edit the iframe's parent page, and why I am using iframes at all.
At the moment the data sends to the parent page but is not picked up within the iframe, I am sending via the POST method.
I got it..
Added and extra page which converted the post data into session data,
if anyone knows a better way i would like to hear it though.
And they are the same domain, but editing the CMS system would have taken ages to look through as its not mainstream or developed by me.
Maybe I'm oversimplifying the problem, but can't you use the "target" attribute of the form tag to post to the Iframe?
I would like to have a user redirected to an external credit card gate. Of course I have to POST some user info to that gate, but I don't know how exactly can I do this.
I know that I could do this by generating a html form with hidden or read-only fields and have a user click "Submit" button. But this solution is not perfect, because all the form data could be easily changed using e.g. Firebug. I think you cannot do this using $this->_redirect(...). But maybe there is some other solution?
Many thanks for any tips or suggestions.

Using a form is the only method available. The RFC states that the user should explicitly agree to sending a POST (i.e. click on a submit button).

It is no more secure that using a redirect as the header data can be modified without too much of a problem. There are even Firefox plugins to do it.
use cURL to post data
