I have a multiple publish instances and multiple dispatchers in Production environment of my website. While i see net tab in firefox, i see a failed request of tracker.js directly hitting to dispatcher URL.
GET http://web.dispatcher.com/libs/wcm/stats/tracker.js?blah-blah
where web.dispatcher.com
I feel dispatcher URL should not get exposed like this. And why even it is hitting dispatcher URL. Any ideas?
I feel either turn off the impressions tracker but not sure how to do that? Or rewrite the request to hide dispatcher. Any suggestions? And How to do it?
if you go to [host]:[port]/system/console/configMgr you will see a configuration for "Day CQ WCM Page Statistics"
Modify that to configure the full url where you want the tracker to send it's requests to.
Additionally, this XHR request is generated by stats.jsp, which is generally included in your head.jsp. If you simply remove that script include from your template (or change it to conditionally include, ie. to not include when WCMMode==DISABLED) you can stop that request from being generated.

I noticed Amazon S3 Redirect rule - GET data is missing but after following the accepted answer my query params still are not being preserved.
I have a site that uses React and React Router, meaning I have several URLs that load identical HTML and JS and then the JS figures out which part of the app to load based on the URL.
For example:
/foo, /bar, /baz all should load index.html, which loads bundle.js. Then bundle.js observes the URL and routes to some React component (also in bundle.js).
However no foo, bar, or baz file exists in S3, only index.html. What I want to do is when I get a 404, redirect to /#!/{URL} (eg. /foo redirects to /#!/foo). This works fine with my redirect rule (below). However, I also want to bring query params with me (eg. /foo?ping=pong redirects to /#!/foo?ping=pong) but instead /foo?ping=pong just redirects to /#!/foo.
Here are my redirect rules:
<RoutingRules>
<RoutingRule>
<Condition>
<HttpErrorCodeReturnedEquals>404</HttpErrorCodeReturnedEquals>
</Condition>
<Redirect>
<Protocol>http</Protocol>
<HostName>www.mydomain.com</HostName>
<ReplaceKeyPrefixWith>#!/</ReplaceKeyPrefixWith>
</Redirect>
</RoutingRule>
</RoutingRules>
Any ideas on some way I can achieve this? Ideally without having to go change something in S3/CloudFront every time I add a new page?
The problem was that I had the origin set up in CloudFront not to forward Query Strings so when S3 got the request it would redirect properly without the query params. You can find this setting in CloudFront > Behaviors > Forward Query Strings.
If you want to have clear urls though you can also check out this trick. You need to setup cloudfront distribution and then alter 404 behaviour in "Error Pages" section of your distribution. That way you can again domain.com/foo/bar links :)
The menus and options in CloudFront/S3 change a lot over time.
Here is a December 2021 solution.
Step 1) Create a "Request" Policy in CloudFront that allows QueryStrings
Note: you might want to also add some Headers like Origin or Access-Control-... headers for CORS.
Step 2) Go to your Distribution > Update the Origin request policy
Step 3) Kick a new Invalidation on /*
Additional Notes for Debuging/Testing
I would recommend testing with curl in terminal rather than a browser to avoid caching and also seeing the details. I do curl -v https://example.com/cb?foo=bar1.
Keep increasing the value of the query string (bar1 in the above example, to bar2, bar3) with every test to make such there is no caching again.
In a plain Play application I have the following scenario.
A route file which looks like this:
GET /accounts/add controllers.Accounts.add()
POST /accounts controllers.Accounts.create()
The first route results in a view where I can add a new account. The form to submit the new account looks something like this:
#helper.form(action = routes.Accounts.create()) {...}
Now the controller binds the input to the form and checks for any validation errors:
public static Result create() {
Form<Account> form = Form.form(Account.class).bindFromRequest();
if (form.hasErrors()) {
return badRequest(views.html.account.add.render(form));
}
...
}
Now the thing is, the client will see the same view with some additional error messages. However, meanwhile the URL has changed from http://example.com/accounts/add to http://example.com/accounts.
If the client now reloads the browser this calls GET http://example.com/accounts (which isn't even mapped in this scenario - thus getting a 404 - Not Found).
Maybe it's just me but I find this kind of annoying and browsing some GitHub projects I couldn't find a good solution for this case.
Of cause things would be much simpler if the second route is rewritten to:
POST /accounts/add controllers.Accounts.create()
... in which case everything works fine. But from a REST point of view this doesn't feel good either. The same applies to update scenarios (having GET /accounts/:id/update vs. PUT /accounts/:id).
Is there a guide on how to handle this? Am I getting something wrong or is this no problem at all (from a pragmatic point of view)?
It's not possible to leave the previous URL because a request for a new address has already been made. A controller only provides response for a requested resource. To go to the previous URL you could only make a redirect in case of validation failure but you would lost errors that way so this is not a solution.
I suggest mapping both actions with the same URL. This way you would solve problem with the browser reload.
If you create a REST service for http clients that aren't browsers you will probably want to serve different response than a simple http page. The separation of actions for particular clients could be a good solution for keeping REST API clean and a browser user happy.
I want to use the Embeddable Build Status Plugin for Jenkins. I am using Cloudbees. I granted Job/ViewStatus permissions to the anonymous user. When I add the Markdown to the README.md no icon is shown. I tried both the protected and the unprotected link.
# protected
[![Build Status](https://johnjohndoe.ci.cloudbees.com/job/TypedPreferences/badge/icon)](https://johnjohndoe.ci.cloudbees.com/job/TypedPreferences/)
# unprotected
[![Build Status](https://johnjohndoe.ci.cloudbees.com/buildStatus/icon?job=TypedPreferences)](https://johnjohndoe.ci.cloudbees.com/job/TypedPreferences/)
By default DEV#cloud Jenkins instances are not visible, at all, to anonymous users. If you have configured role-based security and want anonymous users to have the selected roles, configure your system and check the box Enable read-only access for anonymous users.
Well, the question has been asked some time ago, but for others reaching it here, having the problem, that the image is still not shown within the Readme.md on GitHub/GitHub-Enterprise after performing the above mentioned configuration:
Make sure that both services are using the same protocol. In my case, we had GitHub-Enterprise running under HTTPS and Jenkins was running on HTTP.
The badge will not be shown in this case because of the possible security breach introduced by mixed content. You will find an appropriate error message in the console output of your browser (i.e. F12 in Chrome):
Mixed Content: The page at 'https://.../README.md' was loaded over HTTPS,
but requested an insecure image 'http://.../job/master/badge/icon'.
This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.
It's of course quite obvious but something that can also be easily missed when searching on the wrong track.
I had an issue with space in the project name, so do not forget to replace spaces with %20
example:
[![Build Status](../Long%20Project%20Name/...)](.../Long%20Project%20Name/...)
I'm new to Fiddler and have run across something that seems strange to me. If I select an entry and then click Replay, I get different behavior from when I drag an entry into the Composer window and click Execute.
Should the different behavior between these two methods of re-making a request be different?
Note: I called the second method "cloning" a request because the Composer window says "You can clone a prior request by dragging and dropping a session from the Web Sessions list)."
What is the "different behavior" specifically?
The two operations you describe should behave the same way unless the server returns a redirect or an authentication challenge, in which case preferences will control whether Fiddler automatically authenticates and/or follows the redirect.
Please feel free to email me (Help > Send Feedback) details and/or screenshots of the difference you see.
I have two questions:
Q: 1
I'm currently developing a GWT app. The entry point for the app is: ImageViewer.java. I could well access it by http://127.0.0.1:8888/ImageViewer.html?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997. I have a service called "Search" which has corresponding "Async" and "Impl"'s defined. Now, I call the service from client side, using RPC. I could call the service, obtain return value. Everything works fine.
However, I expect the application to show a behavioral change on URL. i.e. when a service is being accessed, I thought it would be reflected on the browser's URL something like: http://127.0.0.1:8888/search?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997 as I've modified web.xml. However, this behavior is not realized. Any particular reason why this is not reflected??
Q:2
This one is a reverse of the previous ques. i.e. I have an application running. Let's say it has an entrypoint class(Imageviewer.java) and another composite class (searchClass.java) which would be loaded on the Imageviewer based on an event. This searchClass invokes the "search" service mentioned in the previous question.
I could load the "searchClass" in "Imageviewer", invoke the service, and the service also returns the value needed. Everything works fine... But,
I need something like this: by just typing this query string:
http://127.0.0.1:8888/search?value=John
I want the "searchClass" to be loaded on the "ImageViewer", call the service using the value(which is "john" in this case) and display the result. Is this possible at all?
what I've tried: I have tried to create a httpServletClass on the server and mapped it with the URL and could do the search. The search returns appropriate results. However, I want the results from the server to be displayed on the client. Remember, I'm directly using a servlet to read the URL and so there is no value being passed from client to server.
Thanks in advance.
A: 1. To change URL, the hash part, you need to set new history token in the History class. More about history management in this article.
A: 2. For the second part you could achieve it by changing the history token, for instance "http://127.0.0.1/search#value=John". The history service will trigger an event if the # part changes. You could also use the part with "?", as in your example, if you use Window.Location , but it will cause reload of the application, which would put the whole idea of using GWT in question.
RPC (AJAX) calls are done Via XHR and do not change the browser URL.
You can't (with the URL you presented). GWT apps normally run in one web page, i.e. the URL does not change (see how gmail changes browser url bar). What you can do is enable GWT history support. Then your url would be http://host/#search?value=queryu
