Set Publish Date for CMS Pages in Magento - magento-1.7

I would like my homepage to change daily. Is it possible to set dates for the homepage of magento to change daily? I would like a different homepage to be published each day of the week. Is this possible? I am using Community edition 1.7

Magento OOB does not have such a feature.
But it's definitely possible, of course. Check http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/ to see whether such extension already exists. Or just develop your own custom extension.

Typo3 site to run in kiosk mode

I have an existing fitness site ( showing exercises on different pieces of equipment) with menus available depending on whether the user is logged in.
Not sure of the best way of doing this but I would like to access the site via a touchscreen kiosk which will show a different welcome page and menus.
I know it can be done as a clone site which would mean copying all the execise data but is there a way for typo3 to recognise the type of device, assign it as a certain user and allow user level control of the content shown?
Regards
Paul
Device detecting is very complicated and TS conditions that should work were removed from TYPO3 core some time ago.
If it is important (and possible) to detect one kind of device you may create your own TS condition (userfunc).
But maybe another option would solve your problem:
Configure another page type which gets your modified layout for the start page.
Then you only needs to make sure the inital page is called with that specific page type.
An automatic login will be complicated. maybe it would be possible to use a permanent login, where a session cookie without endtime is stored.
If you're using TYPO3 version 8.7, you could use the extension aoe_ipauth (https://extensions.typo3.org/extension/aoe_ipauth/) to automatically log in a user based on IP address. There are several other extensions that do this, but I think most of the others are old and don't work in 8.7. There don't seem to be any that support TYPO3 9.5 yet.

Magento 2 : whatever changes I did are reset after 1 or 2 days

I have a question I am working on my client's site and he migrated the site from Magento 1.9 to Magento 2.1.0, also the magneto 2 theme from swissup lab is installed to site.
Basically, I need help in this, whatever changes I made to site it reverts after 1 or 2 days. Is this happen because I haven't created a child theme and do changes?
Changes like,
add smartchat script to header file.
add quantity increment decrement buttons to product, page and cart page.
add footer links etc.
I have done these changes to the files using template path hints and add code to files.
It would be better not to edit Magento files directly and make the desired changes using modules.
Because, when a client will update his Magento or theme, you may lose the changes that were made.

TYPO3 Calendar plugin/extension. Which one to choose?

I have no clue about where to get started with my calendar plugin. Can you please suggest me if it's easy to create one from the scratch or use an existing one and modify it. If it's the later, which plugin would be better. The following are some key functionalities of my calendar:
The created events should be approved by someone (maybe an authorized group or something).
The events should be customized to be displayed only on specific pages or all the pages.
Add media library
Now, which one would be a better idea...to start a new one..or build on an existing one ? . I'm using TYPO3 6.1.0. and extension builder for creating an extension/plugin.
Thanks
The most popular calendar TYPO3 extension is cal. I think, it's the most complete one.
http://typo3.org/extensions/repository/view/cal
Currently on TER You could find versions which are compatible with TYPO3 CMS up to 6.2.99. You could or participate in its developement, or You could fork it, or You could be inspired by it's functionalities and make Your own.

Converting content pages to tt_news (Typo3)

On a website, I have a section where I put a new page every week. I'd like to convert this to a system using tt_news. How do you suggest me to import the pages (more than 100 pages) to tt_news? Can I do it using a simple SQL query, or should I write a custom PHP script to perform the importation? Is there already an extension that exists that could help me performing this task?
It doesn't really matter to me if I simply build news liked to existing pages, or if I transfer the content of the page to the content of the news. It would be great if I can convert the page title to the news publish date, but I could use the page publishing date as well.
What do you suggest for performing this task?
I would do it via SQL as you mentioned already. Could get tricky if you have multiple content-elements per page that needs to be merged into one tt_news-dataset.
You could also install an extension, that links tt_content-elements with tt_news-records. This way you only have to insert the tt_news-records by traversing the pages and link the content per page to the new tt_news-record. Here are some extension, that link tt_news with content-elements:
ttnews_irre
aba_ttnews_content_con
Here is also an extension that could be worth a look: content2news.
Hope this is useful to you.
Best regards,
Peter

In Magento, how can I preview a page before saving it?

I am using the Magento ver. 1.4.0.1 Community Edition. The problem I am running into is that Magento only allows me to preview pages that I have already saved. This works fine if I am creating a new page - but what if I am editing a current page? I want to be sure that the changes I make look good on the site before saving them.
Does anyone know of a way to preview a static cms page before saving the changes made? I'm open to using some sort of plugin if anyone knows of one.
Thanks
Currently there isn't one in Magento, you'll just have to save it and view it.
A lot of the work I've done in Magento has been done on a development server, once everything was set it got moved to the production server. I'm not saying you need two servers, but having at least a development instance of Magento will help when editing a live site.
for non-trivial changes, I normally create a new page with a URL that's not linked anywhere and then load that up to preview, before copying the content/settings to the real page.
