Clearing cache of feed dialog in facebook app - facebook

I have a facebook app that uses the feed dialog:
FB.ui({
method: 'feed',
message: '',
link: 'http://mywebaddress/pathToContent',
picture: 'http://mywebaddress/pathToPhoto/photo.jpg',
display: 'popup'
});
When I used the app to share content, I forgot to upload the image so the share dialog appeared with the image broken. Now I uploaded the image but it no way I can get it to show up.
1) Tried to use the debugger and it shows in the og:image correct but of course the feed dialog is different from the og tags so it is of no use in this case.
2) It works well from other accounts. Only mine is broken because I tried to share without uploading the image.
3) Tried in different browsers and tried to clear cookies,cache,etc...
4) It works if I rename the file
Do you know a way to force clear the facebook cache or it should go by time or what?
Thanks

I've been dealing with a similar issue with Facebook cache. You can try using
curl -v https://developers.facebook.com/tools/lint/?url=YOUR_URL_HERE&format=json
In console window. That didn't work in my case but I was trying it on a web page not an app so you might have better luck. Hope it helps.

Facebook Sharer has suddenly stopped working for me

I have a LAMP website which allows users to share a graph on Facebook. It was woking fine until May 1st but now whenever I try to share, I just get a grey box.
My site was using sharer.php to do the sharing and giving as the url a document which would generate a single graph, and in it's og:image and og:image:url tags I put a url which points to some code which generates an 800 x 400 png of the same graph. If I copy either url into a browser, they render exactly what I would expect, but if I post the same url to the Sharing Debugger tool, it gives me a blank image.
I have noticed that although clicking the Scrape Again button usually calls the url which renders the image as a png, every now and then it does not, but there is no indication as to why and the Scraped URL page shows exactly the page I would expect with the correct og:image tags.
I have tried changing from using sharer.php to the FB.ui 'share' method, but this has not fixed the issue.
I have also tried asking in the Facebook Developer Community but have had no response. I even tried to raise a bug with Facebook, but it won't let me.
This is driving me nuts. I just don't understand why it has suddenly stopped working. Have I missed something or has Facebook changed anything in the Sharer functionality? Is there any other way to debug this ?
Update: After a lot of tinkering I have found out that this only affects my account, and it affects anything I share on Facebook, not just things from my own site. Furthermore, it's only the preview of the shared page which is not working. What actually gets posted to Facebook is the correct image. I have tried multiple PC's and multiple browsers and it always fails even if I switch off all anti-virus/anti-malware/firewalls etc. Bizarrely, if I share from my phone, it works!

Facebook share dialog sizing bug in Firefox on Windows

We developed a website with fb share dialog to share GIF's into facebook, here is our code snippet for this feature:
FB.ui({
method: 'share',
href: 'gif_480x480_px_url',
hashtag: '#hashtag'
}, function(response) {
});
We use the share dialog as you can see above, because we need the response to use for a feature, anyway we tried the share.php as well (like here: http://jsfiddle.net/stichoza/EYxTJ/), but this one does not work neither unfortunately.
The bug is the following: if the user shares a GIF in Windows Firefox, the facebook's dialog pop-up will open much bigger (and without a scrollbar) than it would be necessary, and most importantly hiding the buttons on the bottom making the share literally impossible because the dialog window is not able to be resized manually. Please see the issue on this screenshot.
In the fb docs, there is no parameter to add max height to the window.
Huge thanks for your help to debug in advance!!!

Facebook sharing website issue with thumbnail

When I share a page from my website, I have ANY thumbnail attached to my post on Facebook. But, if I preview my page with the Facebook debug tool, Facebook is showing me the thumbnail.
You can try it here developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/
In the input URL put this page: http://www.team-exodia.fr/forum/threads/ouverture-de-la-section-garrys-mod-darkrp.6641/.
Now you see the thumbnail if the page is shared.
But now if you share this you didn't see the image preview on Facebook.
(https://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.team-exodia.fr%2Fforum%2Fthreads%2Fouverture-de-la-section-garrys-mod-darkrp.6641%2F)
This issue is all of my page on my forum. I don't understand.
Does anyone know what's happening here? Thanks.
It works fine for me, although you do not have any Open Graph tags on your website. You should ALWAYS include them, the debugger tells you about that too. Here´s a nice list of the needed ones: http://ogp.me/
Dont´t forget to refresh the URL(s) in the debugger after changing it, the Facebook cache can be tricky.

Featured image from post not showing although Fb Debugger is OK

I´m finishing my site in WP and everything seems ok but I can´t get the featured image from my posts to show when sharing the link in FB.
I tryed the debugger, it sees the image ok and returnes a 200 response code.
Debugger test result here
The image size is 300x227 so I understand there is no problem regarding size or proportion.
The Meta included about the image is http://www.momento-marketing.es/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Blog-Analitica-300x227.jpg'/>
Does anyone has a clue about this? Thanks a lot.
I have experienced very wobbly Facebook behavior recently, ie the last few days. Putting page through the Facebook debugger (with og image correctly specified), it says that a particular image is less than 200 x 200 when it is considerably more than this.
Several pages that used to give thumbnails very happily no longer do. Yet one with a really big image (for the sake of Pinterest) with the image reduced in size on the page, is fine.
One thing that DOES upset Facebook - the image has to be hosted on precisely the same domain as the page. I found that when I used a shortened version of my domain name (which forwards to the full one), that prevented thumbnails appearing. Suspect that even a subdomain for one, and not the other, might upset things.
Same problem here...when you try to share it on your browser trough the mobile website, it shows the image.. Try to share a link and replace https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u= to https://m.facebook.com/sharer.php?u= and you see it works, so must be a problem in the desktop Facebook website
Wordpress has changed its requirements for showing images on facebook timeline or on a facebook page. Even I experimented a lot of things and finally found out a solution. Here is how to do it,
Download WPSSO plugin from wordpress.com
Install the plugin
Then navigate into the plugin settings and find the "Images" tab
Set "Open graph Dimensions" as 600 x 315
Now use images above the size of 600 x 315 in your posts
Cick save settings and now try debugging the post with your facebook debugger tool.
I am sure this will solve your problem. If problems persist do post them we will try to reslve it.

Like - Sharer.php ignoring image despite og meta

Despite the meta tags (the first one I never used before, but it came up in the addthis forums);
And the debug tool getting the data in a correct manner:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mondiales.nl%2F
The facebook sharer code does not use the image specified. No images show up at all, there is no thumbnail chooser.
Looking at the HTML of the facebook sharer page, the image is actually there! The thumbnail chooser has a display:none. And when posting the damn thing, no image shows up on the wall.
Stop using addthis and implement a like function using the just the Facebook API? But from what I read, Facebook does a request for the page to get it's data so the JS part should not be the issue, should it?
Did I overlook something?
There's a restriction on the width/height ratio of images shared, the ratio must be less than 3.0
Your image is too wide (211/66 = 3.19) - add some vertical whitespace and it'll share OK i think
For future reference this is mentioned on both the old Share Button docs and the Open Graph protocol docs (under 'og:image')
I've found that once I've posted something to my wall from the sharer or the app, if I try to repost it, it will remember the original image (or no image in your case).
It might be worth clearing the whole cache/cookies from your browser and see if that does the trick.
If not, you'll find that if you log in as another user of Facebook and they try to post it, it will pick up on the new image on their account and not yours.
I'm not exactly sure how Facebook caches the images.
I know this thread is old but this may help someone else with the same issue. FB caches shared urls along with the thumb images and descriptions. To update the cache, add a bogus parameter to your shared query string, like, "?v=1". This gets the latest og tags.
