no matlab executable were found - matlab

I tried to install the "MATLAB - Scientific computing environment" from the software center but failed, because I got the error message "No MATLAB executables were found in the directories you specified. This package requires at least one local installation of MATLAB." My linux version is ubuntu 12.10. Any help will be appreciated.

Try the following:
cd /usr/local/bin/
# Replace R2012a by your version:
sudo ln -s /usr/local/MATLAB/R2012a/bin/matlab matlab
Otherwise you can also try sudo apt-get install matlab-support, which is basically an assistant for configuring MATLAB.
Now the command matlab should launch MATLAB.

Installing Vivado ML 2021.2 in CentOs but process is hang in 'Generating installed device list'

anybody can help me figure out why the installation is hanging on 'Generating installed device list' and how to solve it without starting the process all over. I am working on CentOs.

I think this happens due to following missing packages:
libstdc++6:i386
libgtk2.0-0:i386
dpkg-dev:i386
ncurses5-compat-libs
python3-pip
libtinfo5
libncurses5
As BKN mentioned, you need to install the missing packages.
To avoid starting all over again, you can do the following:
Check the log: cat ~/.Xilinx/xinstall/*.log
Locate the error message. It should look something like:

The log informs you exactly what the missing package is (in this case it was libtinfo), and also provides you with the script to run after you install the package:
/tools/Xilinx/Vivado/2021.2/bin/vivado -nolog -nojournal -mode batch -source /tools/Xilinx/Vivado/2021.2/scripts/sysgen/tcl/xlpartinfo.tcl -tclargs /tools/Xilinx/Vivado/2021.2/data/parts/installed_devices.txt
Notes:
Make sure to use the Vivado version (here it was 2021.2) and location (here it was /tools/Xilinx) according to your system.
You may need to run the script in sudo if the the permissions for writing are not available in user mode.
I also encounterd this problem on Archlinux with Vivado 2018.3.
But I just installed the library ncurses5-compat-libs, then the problem is solved.
Perhaps you can solve this by checking the library ncurses5-compat-libs.
Download the tar package instead of the self-extracting bin package
Update the java and python version
sudo apt-get install -y python3-pip
Install Dependencies
sudo apt-get install -y libstdc++6
sudo apt-get install -y libgtk2.0-0
sudo apt-get install -y dpkg-dev
NOTE: Without ibtinfo5 the application will not start and without libncurses5 the simulation will fail
`sudo apt-get install -y libtinfo5 libncurses5`
Restart the system
Untar that Vivado package
tar -xzvf Xilinx_Unified_2021.2_1021_0703.tar.gz
Locate the xsetup file in the package
Install the package in batch mode
./xsetup --agree 3rdPartyEULA,XilinxEULA --batch Install --product "Vivado" --edition "Vivado ML Enterprise" --location "/home/USER"
Once the installation has been successfully completed
Locate the settings64.sh file
./settings64.sh
Locate the cable drivers
cd Vivado/2021.2/data/xicom/cable_drivers/lin64/install_scripts/install_drivers
./install_drivers
Installing Vivado Board Files
Get the board package from the git https://github.com/Digilent/vivado-boards.git
From the vivado-board-master package copy the folder board_files undert /vivado-board-master/new/board_files
Paste the board files to Vivado/2021.2/data/boards
From the vivado-board-master package copy the file Vivado_init.tcl under /vivado-board-master/utility
Paste the file Vivado_init.tcl to the Vivado installation
That's it!! You might not need to do all these steps but that is what I ended up doing and it worked for the two machines where I installed Vivado. The installation took less than one hour.

Prebuilt sparc bare metal cross compiler not working

Downloaded a prebuilt cross compiler sparc-elf-4.2.2 and has set the PATH to sparc-elf-4.4.4/bin after which i ran sparc-elf-gcc -o matrixmul matrixmul.c on the terminal only to find the following response
/home/root/sparc-elf-4.4.2/bin/sparc-elf-gcc: No such file or directory
I have no idea as to why this response .
I just ran into the same problem. Turned out that that my OS is a 64-Bit Ubuntu System and the compiler is a 32-Bit program.
I followed the instructions given here https://askubuntu.com/questions/454253/how-to-run-32-bit-app-in-ubuntu-64-bit :
To run a 32-bit executable file on a 64-bit multi-architecture Ubuntu
system, you have to add the i386 architecture and install the three
library packages libc6:i386, libncurses5:i386, and libstdc++6:i386:
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
Or if you are using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) or below, use this:
echo "foreign-architecture i386" > /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/multiarch
Then:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libc6:i386 libncurses5:i386 libstdc++6:i386
If fails, do also
sudo apt-get install multiarch-support
After these steps, you should be able to run the 32-bit application:
./example32bitprogram

How to start IDLE that comes with Python 3.6

I am using Linux Mint 18. I installed Python 3.5 and 3.6 using apt-get in the terminal. I can open IDLE of Python 2.7 and 3.5 using commands idle and idle3 respectively. How can I access IDLE that comes with Python 3.6?
Try the command idle3.6. python3 and idle3 are still associated with your system Python, which is 3.5.
Simply typing in idle3.6 should work just like carusot42 mentioned. If it doesn't work, perhaps you might want to see if everything else is installed correctly. Here are the steps I followed which worked perfectly fine for me. I am also running Linux Mint 18. The steps that I followed were:
Installed the prerequisites of Python. Do that by typing in the following commands -
sudo apt-get install build-essential checkinstall
sudo apt-get install libreadline-gplv2-dev libncursesw5-dev libssl-dev libsqlite3-dev tk-dev libgdbm-dev libc6-dev libbz2-dev
Download Python using the following command and extract it (use your desired location) -
cd /usr/src
wget https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.6.1/Python-3.6.1.tgz
sudo tar xzf Python-3.6.0.tgz
The next step is to compile Python source. To do that type in the commands below-
cd Python-3.6.1
./configure
sudo make altinstall
make altinstall is used to prevent replacing the default Python binary
file /usr/bin/python
You should be good to go. You check your Python version by typing python3.6 -V in the terminal.
Once you do that, type in idle3.6 and then Python 3.6.1 shell should open for you.
The Software Manager in Linux Mint lists the Python Packages and IDLE Packages
separately. After you install Python, go look up the associated IDLE package in the Software Manager and install it. Reboot and it should work fine. It worked for me.

Raspberry Pi crosscompile on Ubuntu 13.10 "libstdc++.so.6" not found

I've followed the tutorial on SE as well as trying the extra steps from Hertaville and bootc but I still get the error that prompted the original SE question. I'm stumped.
I get five steps into the process before I get the error:
sudo apt-get install git rsync cmake lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0
git clone git://github.com/raspberrypi/tools.git
export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/raspberrypi/tools/arm-bcm2708/gcc-linaro-arm-linux-gnueabihf-raspbian/bin
. ~/.bashrc
arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc -v
Error:
arm-linux-gnueabihf-gcc: error while loading shared libraries:
libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
libstdc++.so.6 is present in all three directory trees mentioned in the tutorials as well as ./lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6, but adding the relevant one to the path doesn't help (see below). I suspect there's a library path not being set, but I have no idea what that is.
I'm doing this in a virtual machine running Ubuntu 13.10 with netbeans and other tools, plus a LAMP stack installed. netbeans will build and run C/C++ executables just fine (and obviously IO can do the same from the command line).
Other things I've tried without success
export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/raspberrypi/tools/arm-bcm2708/gcc-linaro-arm-linux-gnueabihf-raspbian/arm-linux-gnueabihf/lib
Hertaville suggest adding 32 bit architecture:
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libc6-i386 lib32stdc++6 zlib1g:i386
And the "build-essential" package:
sudo apt-get install build-essential git
Which also didn't help. I've also rebooted just in case.
As expected the answer is trivial - install lib32stdc++6
The first line above should read:
sudo apt-get install libc6-i386 lib32z1 lib32stdc++6

How to uninstall opencv in Ubuntu?

I have the following system:
Linux 64 bit LTS 12.04
I have multiple installations of opencv library on the system.
I want to know the procedure to remove all opencv libraries from the system.
I am having trouble while executing my program through Eclipse IDE.
Though I can build the project when I try to execute it, it gives the following error:

Confusing thing is I am not able to find the path specified in the error i.e.
/build/buildd/opencv-2.3.1/modules/core/src/matrix.cpp
I am able to compile the same source code using command line tool gcc and using pkg-config.
However I am unable to do the same through eclipse IDE.
You can also uninstall by going to the "build" folder directory of opencv from terminal, and execute the following
make uninstall
cd ..
sudo rm -r build
sudo rm -r /usr/local/include/opencv2 /usr/local/include/opencv /usr/include/opencv /usr/include/opencv2 /usr/local/share/opencv /usr/local/share/OpenCV /usr/share/opencv /usr/share/OpenCV /usr/local/bin/opencv* /usr/local/lib/libopencv*
I remember I used this command a while ago to remove all opencv related things. It is interactive which promote you to remove the file. choose y or n depending.Take your time and be-careful
$> sudo find / -name "*opencv*" -exec rm -i {} \;
The correct way is cd /path/to/cv/build then sudo make uninstall. Of course you will have to have the source code with you
I tried the exec rm thing but nothing changed. Also FYI, sudo apt-get remove libopencv-* did not remove openCV for me
