Matlab figure copy options in 2012b? - matlab

I'd like to save a copy of my figure without the white background. Prior versions of matlab had various options to do with figure copying, such as the background color options and keeping screen resolution, etc. Where did it go? I found "figure copy template" in preferences, but none of that stuff is there.

That option is still available in 2012b. From the figure, selected the Edit menu and copy options. There's a button for Transparent Background. This screen is also available from copy figure template by clicking the plus sign to the right.

MATLAB GUI Stuck After Save Tool from Guide

I have been working on an gui developed using the GUIDE in Matlab. The current gui, I mean the general figure window contains all types of sliders, buttons, editboxes, etc...
After awhile, I added a toolbar to my gui which included the Save tool. I have not changed any specifications regarding the save tool. I used the one already in GUIDE toolbar editor.
After clicking it, my gui program is stuck at that very instance I pressed the save tool and I cannot do anything else with it. It also opens in the same situation even after restarting the PC. I do not get any errors.
I would appreciate any help. How to restore functionality to my gui?
Unfortunately the "Save" tool's default is not "Save As" with a prompt it is just the normal "save" which immediately overwrites. The tool saved your current figure (or GUI). Meaning it overwrote the fig file of your GUI with the current state.
So when you pressed "save" uicontrol visibility, values, slider positions, edit box text etc. all was written into the FIG file. So the next time you launch it is all still in there.
To Fix it you will probably have to edit in GUIDE and try to clear / reset everything to your desired initial state.

Eclipse change 'view' border color

Is there a way to change the color of the grids in eclipse?
I am using the built-in 'Dark' theme, and the grid lines are too bright for me, they mess with my vision, I have some visual snow.
I think that is based on the "Window Color and Appearance" (that's the given name if you are under windows) of your desktop personalization just like the top bar maximize/minimize/close.
So you can always go there and change it in "3D objects", but be aware that this change will affect your whole desktop/windows visuals.
Altho, that beeing said, I know that there are ways tweak it around. This could give you a hand: http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/eclipse-4-chrome-theme#.UYrzEkAW1J0
Also a tool called css spy will help you find what you want to edit faster: http://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/eclipse-4-tools-css-spy#.UYrzSkAW1J0

Is it possible to change the background color of text highlighted while using a code template in Eclipse?

In other words, when you type for and hit ctrl+space, you can pick various template for loops. After selecting, it creates the code and lets you tab between various aspects of the code (such as which array you're looping over). I've switched to dark colors on Eclipse, but I can't find anywhere to change the highlight for these tab areas, so they show up with light backgrounds and my light foreground colors and are completely unreadable.
Is it possible to change these colors somewhere? If so, where?
It took me some time, but I found it.
Look under window>Preferences>General>Text Editors>Linked Mode
Then it is "Editable Range" you are looking for.
In preferences:

Since you didn't find a prefs setting by searching for "color", there probably is no way to do this. I suggest to open a bug at https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/

Netbeans Version Control File Color Codes?

I'm trying to find a legend that can help explain the different colors NetBeans uses to describe the state of a file.
Some of my file colors are:
Grey
Blue
Green
Any others I have yet to discover
If it helps, I'm using Netbeans 6.7 with CVS. What are these colors?
Green means new.
Blue means modified.
Grey means ignored and/or deleted. (Documentation contradicts the tooltip hint!)
If you go into the View menu, you can turn on Show Versioning Labels. That will put text next to each file explaining its state (and what each color represents).

Using the online help and searching for icon/icons and or badge/badges should give you the information you want.
Alternatively take a look at BadgedIcons which at least explains some of the colors and icons (e.g. for version control)

Change order of images in icon file

Is there an app that can change the order of images inside an icon?
Thanks!
What you'll need to do that is a resource editor. A google search will reveal many free ones out there. The restorator is a great one, but not free and over-priced IMO.
Any decent resource editor will allow you to see icons in the exe or dll and save them or replace them. I don't know of any that will allow you to reorder them, but just about any out there would allow you to save the icons out and then replace them back in the exe/dll in whatever order you'd like.
The only resource editor I know of that will allow you to re-order the embedded icons including png compressed vista icons is Resource Tuner Console.
You can change the image order using Pixelformer (an icon/bitmap editor). Import the icon, reorder the images as you wish, then export it back.
Using a resource editor is not an easy way to do this because you have to edit both ICON and ICON GROUP and I tried to do this with Resource Hacker and could not do it.
I found Easy Icon Maker is able to rearrange the order of the icons properly... it's the only icon editor that I found with this option, and I tried about half a dozen. The editor itself is not nearly as good as IcoFX (http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/icofx_portable)
Why would you want to do this? Well there are certain times when Windows will use the first icon file that matches the size, but this may not be the color-depth that you want... for instance if you are on an older machine like Windows 2000 that doesn't support Alpha Channels then putting these at the beginning of your ICO file will cause Windows 2000 to try to render it so it results in black dots all over the image.
