Not able to connect to Clear case server from eclipse SCM plugin - eclipse

I tried installing SCM Adapter version 7.6.0.0 and version 7.0.2 with eclipse Version: 3.5.0, Version: 3.4.2 and Version: Juno Service Release 2 but no luck at all.
it is getting installed successfully but while connecting getting below error
Select Details>> for more information.
Could not connect to Rational Clearcase. Please ensure that the proper version
of ClearCase is installed with the proper patches. Consult the ClearCase SCM
Adapter documentation for futher details.
Provider name: IBM
Plugin name: Rational ClearCase SCM Adapter
Plugin ID: com.rational.clearcase
Version: 7.6.0.v201105111445
and now getting very much confused, do i need to install complete Clear Case or CCRC will work, as I have CCRC installed on my desktop and it is working fine.
Please do provide your input.

Which version of ClearCase do you have? There could be an issue with version SCM adapter 7.6 not being compatible with your CC version. That what it sounds like.
Your ClearCase installation should come with an update site to ClearTeam Explorer (CTE), which is a different Eclipse plugin that connects to ClearCase. Note though that you cannot have both CTE and SCM adapter installed at the same time, they are mutually exclusive.
There is also an open source plugin that works really well that might be worth checking out.
The advantage of having a Clearcase plugin in Eclipse is huge. You wont have to switch to desktop every time you want to edit a file. Instead the plugin will do that automatically for you. You also get a view listing all checked out files in your view, which helps alot.

Eclipse Oxygen will not connect with the SVN server

I have ‘TortoiseSVN 1.10.0, Build 28176 - 64 Bit , 2018/04/14 08:00:32’ and it works in non Eclipse situations. I have read and followed most of the reverent post on Stackoverflow and others. Still no joy. I have added the SVN plugins, except for ‘JavaHl’ which failed after an hour of trying. My Eclipse is:
Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers.
Version: Oxygen.3a Release (4.7.3a)
Build id: 20180405-1200
The current situation is:
When I try to add the Repository Location, I get:
I have also tried ‘file:///P:/SMC/TortoiseSVN/Projects/’ fails with the same message.
This is what TortoiseSVN gives me in a checkout dialog. When I look at the ‘Repository Browser’ I see:
I tried several other variations and none of them worked.
When I look under window→preferences→team→ SVN, I see:
I also do see an entry in the pull down for ‘Native JavaHL 1.8.11” but it gives the almost same error.
Thanks in advance Cliff2310
You have a filesystem (FS) repository (URL starts with file://), so no SVN server is involved and Eclipse or the connector of Subversive accesses the files directly.
The filesystem format 8 is understood by Subversion 1.10, not by 1.9. Unfortunately, there are no SVN 1.10 connectors for the SVN Eclipse plug-in Subversive yet. Also Subclipse which is an alternative to the Subversive Eclipse plug-in does not yet but will support SVN 1.10 in the next upcoming release.
As a hack you can change the version in the file db/format from 8 to 7. But beware, this could also destroy the repository.
The better solution is to downgrade the repository. A non filesystem repository would perform better. On Windows you can use e. g. VisualSVN Server for that and the latest version (3.9.0) should be able to import your FS 8 repository since it supports SVN 1.10.

Eclipse Plugin for ClearCase

Installed on my Windows 7 (32-bit) computer is ClearCase Explorer 8.0.1.9 and Eclipse Java IDE 4.7.2 (Oxygen) and JDK 1.8.0_161.
I am looking for suitable plugin so that I can perform check-out / check-in to ClearCase from Eclipse workbench.
I found a plugin on sourceforge but I would prefer something from IBM.
Also I cannot use the newer product ClearTeam Explorer, I must use ClearCase Explorer.
Try using cleartool command line options to checkout or checkin.
it is very simple and got clean response.
Do integrate batch commands with Eclipse
Check this related Question How to run a batch script (.bat file) from eclipse

Cleartool subcommands for base ClearCase and UCM
You'll need to update your clearcase client to 9.0.0.6/9.0.1.2 or later to use the cte plugins that support that release of eclipse. 8.0.1.x tops out at 4.6.
The plugin mentioned by #Elyahu is last updated in 2013, and may not work with a current eclipse/jvm release.
As I remarked, in any case Eclipse is not an IBM tool, so you can find any suitable plugin you find on the net.
That one is an IBM one, but for lower ClearCase versions, but it might be OK, since its only a plugin, and you only need a check-out <-> check-in ability

Since you have mentioned you have 'ClearCase Explorer 8.0.1.9 ', I assume that you have installed it in your computer/VM/asset.
During installation of Clearcase, there is option you can select to install 'CTEUpdateSite'. If you enable that option, you will see /CTEUpdateSite directory. You can configure it in your eclipse Help--> Install Software, Add a 'Local' location so that those plugins will get installed. Post Installation you will able to do all ClearCase operations from Eclipse IDE itself.

clearteam explorer as a plugin to eclipse

I am trying to configure Clearteam explorer in eclipse 3.5.
I downloaded Eclipse 3.5
installed GEF plugin.
Installed clearcase plugin from sourceforge.
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/eclipse-ccase/index.php?title=Installation
Installed clearcase 8.0 in machine and made my machine act as a registry server. Clearcase 8 is included with Clearteam explorer (CCRC).
here is the process for installing CTE for eclipse
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/cchelp/v8r0m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.rational.clearcase.ccrc.help.doc/topics/t_ccrc_eclipse.htm
I gave my machine //hostname/ccrc/update as given in the doc, but it isnt working.
There is also another way to give the path as - file:/c:/my repository path... even this way its not working. it is showing an error as repository not fount at ...file:/c:/my repository path
Some Doubts which may help in resolving problems:
Will there be any plugin inside Clearcase which i can use for eclipse.
I did not install CCRC WAN server into my machine as am using my machine as a registry server. Is it Mandatroy to install CCRC WAN.
If i want to install CCRC WAN i need to install IBM HTTP server and websphere along with that.
Does this make any impact on the current issue.
To my knowledge, the eclipse--case plugin couldn't possibly work with the ClearTeam 8.x new release of ClearCase.
eclipse-ccase, like the IBM ClearCase plugin for Eclipse are for a full ClearCase 6.x - 7.x installation, not for CCRC (7.2) or ClearTeam (8.x).
With ClearCase 8.0, what you would need to follow is the IBM article
"Installation of ClearTeam Explorer into an existing IDE (such as Eclipse SDK)"

Flashbuilder 4 and Clearcase plugin

I am running flash builder 4 plugin on eclipse Ganymede 3.4.2
I'm trying to install ClearCase plugin for eclipse but it is giving me no repository found errors. Has anyone run into this? I saw a workaround on a Java forum but it doesn't work in flex view.
Also, I'm willing to even install ClearCase remote client 7.1 bit I can't even get the IBM installation manager installed. Their instructions are impossible. I'm at my wits end.
Can anyone possibly lend a hand? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you
ClearCase plugin and CCRC are two very different programs:
ClearCase plugin is a full ClearCase integration with Eclipse, made to work within a full ClearCase client installation.
can be installed through the p2 update site mentioned in the
Rational ClearCase SCM Adapter (For Eclipse), Version 7.5.0.0 page:
SCM Adapter for Eclipse on Windows
http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/clearcase/60/update/windows/
SCM Adapter for Eclipse on Solaris/Linux
http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/rationalsdp/clearcase/60/update/unix/
CCRC client is a client for a CCRC web server (which in turn with the ClearCase VOB server): no actual ClearCase client locally installed, no cleartool, no nothing: just a lightweight ClearCase client.
You cannot use a CCRC client if you already have a full ClearCase client installed.
You cannot use a CCRC client if you don't have a CCRC server somewhere listening for the request of that (CCRC) client.

how to install clearcase 7.1.1

I've been googling for a while now, I found some not complete tutorials how to install CC 7.1.1 like this one : Installing Rational ClearCase Remote Client for Eclipse
Which update site do I add in eclipse to install 7.1.1 ? I need this particular version because it is only one supported in windows 7
First ClearCase 7.1.1 is not yet officially supported on Windows7.
CCRC (the remote client) is supported, because it only uses snapshot view (CCWeb view) which works on W7 (only dynamic views are not supported yet)
Finally, the "update" site for CCRC 7.1 should be, according to this IBM post:
http://yourserver:12080/ccrc/update
But that is actually only working for 7.0, not 7.1
(And, as mention in this upgrade process, you will need to install GEF as well.)
With a CCRC server 7.1.x, You must use a full RCP CCRC 7.1.1 client available on Passport Advantage.
You have two configurations:
You have installed a full ClearCase client (not the remote client, the complete client), because the VOB server is not "too far" from your workstation.
Then, in that case, you can add an Eclipse ClearCase plugin. See this question.
It is not a CCRC plugin, but a full ClearCase plugin.
You have not ClearCase on your workstation. Then the only solution to still access some ClearCase view is a remote client.
With ClearCase 7.1, you only have a standalone version of the CCRC, not an Eclipse plugin version.
You had an Eclipse CCRC plugin for ClearCase 7.0. But not for CC7.1
So you need first to qualify your situation. Do you have (independently of Eclipse) a full ClearCase client already installed?
Eclipse plug-ins exist for CCRC 7.1.2, so that you can install it after the fact on top of any Eclipse based IDE. However, it seems IBM do not have a public update site, you need to point to your Clearcase server, and likely, the admin must have installed the update site there.
Well I got it working simply by exploding the zip 7.1.1.1-RATL-RCCRC-EXT-FP01.zip. This is an IBM eclipse plugin for RAD, this seems to be working fine for all version of eclipse. Simply copy all the contents in the eclipse directory, you are all set.
