I am a definite novice with the GE API, and I have a little bit of KML experience, so I apologize if this is a day-one question.
I am considering developing a web-based application using the GE API, and I'm wondering if it's possible to add any of the Google Earth Pro functionality that I have through my Pro license. Specifically, the most recent version of GE Pro contains a Viewshed tool, and I'm wondering if it's at all possible to use the API to programmatically call this feature in the web-based GE instance, or if that feature is something that's restricted to the downloadable client version of GE Pro. Thanks for any help.
Adam
No this is not possible. The Google Earth Api and the Desktop application are totally separate things.
You would have to create your own functionality using the API.

I have a game developed for me in Unity. The game pulls steps, blood pressure and glucose data. So far my developer have been able to pull health data from Apple Health Kit, but they are stuck with Google Fit. Does the Google Fit REST API work with Unity? Will I need my to create a plugin? Sorry, I have the code, but I would know what to show. I could ask my developer if that is needed. Thank you!
This is a great feature to extend Google SDK to the Unity platform. The official libraries do not exist yet, but suggested workaround is to use REST API. You may start working around with Google Fit API on the official docs. You can opt to use OAuth Playground or any API platform to start with. Once you establish communication with Google Fit, try to make a call between a client and a server with the help of RESTful API in Unity.
I need some guidance in matter of using Google map in creating iPhone app that is i m creating through Phonegap.
I have heard that Google maps can be used without internet connection by using Google map API.
My question is how to apply that functionality?
Any help will be appreciated.
Google maps api can not be used offline due to the terms of service.
If you cache the tiles it will be a terms violation. It can be done if you purchase the enterprise edition. Check this for more information on the subject. You might have to use something else if you absolutely must have that functionality.
You should check out openlayers. That might be of help.
I have an iOS app that uses the Google Docs List API to access and download spreadsheet data. I've done a basic test with upgrading my Google Docs account to Google Drive, and everything still seems to be working okay.
Based on the answer for this question Google Document List API and Google Drive SDK it looks like things will continue to work for awhile.
Are there any steps that mobile devs should be taking now to move to the new API? My main concern is that most of the developer docs so far are related to web apps and not mobile apps so requirements like registering for the chrome web store don't seem to fit. For example:
"Warning: Apps will not have any API access to files unless the app has been installed in Chrome Web Store. To test an app during development, you must first create a listing and install it."
Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated.
Check this answer for the rationale behind the Chrome Web Store installation: https://stackoverflow.com/a/10476737/186674
Also, we are considering removing the installation requirement for the development and testing phase, we should have some updates soon.
iOS apps using the Documents List API should now update to using the Google Drive API and the newer Google APIs Client Library for Objective-C.
The new API and library are quite a bit easier to use and more efficient than are the older GData alternatives.
Do you think that if I'll build my own custom analytic tool (Flurry, Pinchmedia) and I'll host that on the same server where I have my data source for the application, will Apple consider this as a thirdparty analytic tool or not? ... Problem is that Flurry and Pinch are being banned from Appstore by the newest T&C ... than I thought that I'll build an open source library that will allow anyone to have their own analytic installed on their server ...
Thanks,
Ondrej
(Full disclosure: I work for Localytics)
What you describe would seem to comply with Apple's new terms. It's what I call 1st-party collection of device data. Or Apple could approve your use 3rd-party analytics, which is more likely if your analytics service isn't using those data to serve ads or selling data to someone else.
But why build it yourself? Localytics announced its Enterprise analytics service last week, which includes 1st-party data collection: http://www.localytics.com/blog. Localytics client libraries for iPhone (and Android and BlackBerry) are already open source.
I want to extract the text information (Chinese) from the images that picked by users with their mobiles. So I am here wondering is there any open source/free OCR (Pattern recognition) software for mobile platform. Currently I am doing with iPhone (And android, blackberry platform?)
I've searched stackoverflow but seems there only are some questions about C#/.Net
Thank you in advance~
If you're into writing your own solution, this paper seems to be applicable.
ABBYY even has a mobile OCR SDK for iPhone, Android, and more, so you can recognize text on your device before using web services, at all: http://www.abbyy.com/mobileocr/
However, it is not free and you will have to buy a license for commercial purposes.
GrayWizardx is right there are few servers that provide this kind of services like kooaba
And may be it will be a bad idea to re-invent the whole wheel
