Vertical tables with JBehave - jbehave

By default JBehave presents outcome and parameterized tables in a tabular way, eg.
header1|header2|header3
value1 |value2 |value3
is there a way to present this data vertically instead ?
header1|value1
header2|value2
header3|value3
I'm aware of the Jbehave-html-output.ftl file and its renderTable macro, but before I start digging into this - I'd like to make sure there's no easier way to achieve the above.

Changing the batch color in the Fluid Library

I am curious to know how to change the batch color dynamically when using the Fluid Library. Say I am using a fluidSelectInput block. I want to set the output to a certain color when coming from input 1 and a different color when coming from input 2. I have access to the batch object in On new batch at input 1 but it is not clear how to change the color here.
I have tried something along the lines of ...
((MyBatch)batch).setColor(Color.red);
.....
but this is not working

You can't create a new batch coming out from a fluidSelectInput block... The logic is different in the way that to input1 and input2 you already have 2 different fluids coming... so why would you want to change the batch color at the fluidSelectInput when you can change it in the sources that go to the fluidSelectInput? The fluidSelectInput is just a pathway, it's not an element that can change the characteristics of your fluid.
The actions On new Batch at input work to identify new batches coming in, and not to create new batches on the output.
The code you are using is correct, but the whole logic is wrong so you have to rethink your problem or ask your question in a different way. Remember to set your blocks with "custom batch" in order to be able to change the batch effectively.
Conclusion... what you want to use really is the fluidMerge instead... in that block you can control your exit batch

Visio ShapeSheet ShapeData: keep two rows in sync

I have two Shape Data rows for a Shape's ShapeSheet:

The way I intent to use this is to have the user select the Type, say Epsilon, and then have the Abbrev automatically switch to the corresponding value in the Prop.Abbrev.Format.
Note: the values used here are placeholders for the actual values for my application, which are not shown here so they don't distract from the real answer I need, how to keep the selections in sync when the first one is chosen or changed.

I don't have Visio on this machine, so I am unable to copy and paste a working solution. The approach gets a little complicated, but extremely flexible.
Save your lists in the User section, rather than Prop - this then becomes underlying data for use in properties. If you are using a master stencil then this also helps with managing the fields.
You can now store an index in your data as well - this index points to the appropriate values in your arrays. You can use Actions and side menus to set the index which, when referenced properly, means you can have the full name and/or abbreviation in the side menu and the ShapeSheet does all the work underneath.
The functions you want to look at are:
Index (e.g. INDEX(1,User.Type) will return "Beta". (0-based)
Lookup (e.g. LOOKUP("D", User.Abbrev) will return "3". (0-based)

SetAtRefExpr

I had a similar business problem which relied on setting a background colour based on the value of shape data. Your final solution could end up including formulas like this: =SETF(GetRef(Prop.Type),"GUARD(INDEX(LOOKUP(Prop.X,Prop.X.Format),User.Type))").

Crystal Reports - suppress subreport parameter prompts

I have a Crystal report with several subreports linked on a common field - all working great. Now must add another, very complex, existing report as a new sub. This report's data source code stretches several pages. It also has over a dozen parameters which are further imbedded in numerous formula fields through out. That said, it runs fine and has a parameter that links with the main report. Unfortunately all the other parameter prompts is supremely annoying.
I've searched high and low for a method to accept default values without prompts but Crystal doesn't seem to accommodate that notion.
Revising the report to remove all the unneeded parameters would be extremely painful and simply not an option.
I'm hoping to find an alternate way to pass the parameter values to prevent the prompt. I'm aware of the SetParameterValue() method of the ReportDocument class but not sure how to use it. I've found examples of how to use it with C#, VS, ASP.net, etc., none of which work for an end user like myself.
Could the data source command itself be used?

With Command Level prompts, you would never be able to change the prompt values with the CR Viewer.
If the report is supposed to be viewed in the CR Viewer and you need the functionality or changing prompt values, try this:
1) Remove Command Level prompts
2) Create the Data prompt in the report from the Field Explorer
3) Create a Record Selection formula like this:
{date_field} = {?Date_prompt}
under Report > Selection Formulas > Saved data
4) Save the report with data
Try this...

How to change the SSRS input parameters position in report

My SSRS report contains 7 input parameters and while running my report the size of the parameter(i.e. length) is increasing.
One of my input parameter(drop down list) may contain 100 characters so the size is not constant but i want to place all parameters in 2 lines or 3 lines(in a row).
Now it is coming 2 parameters per a row
Please advice
As gbn indicates, it's not easy to change the built in report server method of presenting the parameters. SSRS likes to always use two parameters per line, presented in the order that they exist in the report (which must match the dependency order.)
So the alternatives that gbn mentions: Both involve building a "Wrapper" application: some custom code or a web page that you can code however you like to get the parameters. Then you call Reporting Services, either in code or by passing a formatted URL with your parameters. The report can be displayed in a frame, new window, or passed as a stream to where ever you'd like.
The URL access is pretty straightforward and reliable: I often use it either by hand (to create "favorites") or in code.

For what you are looking for, these might be more work than you expected, but they will be extremely flexible for your interface.

You can certainly do that, just right click on the RDL file in the solution explorer and select view code. then move the XML tags named <ReportParameter Name="Nameofparameter"> under <ReportParameters> according to where ever you want to position. And then save it. thats it!!!
The report parameters are kind of floating in values of 2, so if u have 4 report parameters then it will be shown as 1,2 next line 3,4. Best of luck!!
Use ASP.NET for the paramaters and a ReportViewer control or URL access to render. Seriously.

I believe you could try using jQuery. The report parameters are rendered in a table under a div tag with class sqlrv-ParameterContainer. Write a jQuery or JavaScript function that will extract the full innerHTML from this div ie. the table content and then extract the table row information like the <label> or <input> tags.
Create your desired table structure with <table><tr><td>{extracted sections}</td><td></td></tr></table> or leave it to your requirement...
Then just append this new HTML structure in place of the original default structure.
In jQuery it will be like
$(".sqlrv-ParameterContainer").html();
which will give you the entire table structure that comes inside the parameter. Use XML parsing and get the input controls and all. Extract these controls as-is, don't change anything.
$(".sqlrv-ParameterContainer table").remove(); // it will remove the SSRS rendered default table from DOM
$(".sqlrv-ParameterContainer table").appendChild('<table><tr>......</tr></table>'); // Append your custom html structure here....
This was something that came to my mind quickly... I would suggest you test it... :)
This doesn't help the OP with SSRS-2008 but in case it helps others - Microsoft have improved this in SSRS 2016 - parameters can now be easily managed via the GUI in Report Builder / Visual studio:

Formatting a line chart

I have a line chart in a report (rdlc), that I cannot get formatted correctly. There are 2 main things I am trying to accomplish.
1) The x-axis is a date, right now it is being displayed as the full date with time, and I want it to be displayed as mm/dd/yyyy. I have attempted to change this by using =FormateDateTime(Fields!EndDate.Value, DateFormat.ShortDate) This is exactly how I saw it in Microsoft's examples, even the one included in VS2008 (what I am using), but for some reason it says that .ShortDate is and unrecognized identifier. I am thinking this might be a bug. So any ideas on how to get it into the mm/dd/yyyy format?
2) I want the values that are being plotted not to be there actual value but the previous values before added to the value. This is to accomplish a continual upward slope, showing the totals. I would also like to filter out zero's since the first 20 entries are so are 0. When I try to use the filter option it for some reason makes the chart just a flat line.
Any suggestions to any of these problems or a link to a good tutorial would be great as I am new to using these reports. Thanks!
Update: I have accomplished these by applying changes to the actual data being supplied, I would still like to know an easier better way to do this.
You can format the date in the lable under the general tab like this.
=Format(Fields!POWDate.Value, "M/dd/yyyy")
As of now I have fixed the problem by formating the data in the SQL query to the way I would like it to be displayed in the report.
