I am very new in Typo3 world and I am reading the official documentation of this CMS.
I came from Joomla and WordPress and I have some doubts about how Typo3 extends the provided functionality.
For example if, in Joomla, I would have an immage gallery or a forum into my CMS I have to install a forum component that provide me this functionality and some modules that show me some output into the pages. Similar logic is implemented by WordPress
How work Typo3? How can I add functionality to Typo3?
Login as an administrator and go to Extension Manager, next update the list of extensions from repository, and finally click the icon to download ext and install it. That's all

I started to learn how to use TYPO3 because I want to create a FAQ page. So I created a very simple page:
But if I view the page, then i only get "HELLO WORLD!". What am i doing wrong?
Did i missed some steps? Where can i get started the best way?
I use TYPO3 8.1.2 btw.
First of all: You have done nothing wrong.
TYPO3 has it's own configuration language: TypoScript.
You have to tell the system in TypoScript what should be rendered in the frontend. The default is a simple TypoScriptSnippet that only prints out the text HELLO WORLD.
I looks something like this:
page = PAGE
page.10 = TEXT
page.10.value = WELLO WORLD
You can find the configuration of your page in the Template module in the backend in the field "Setup". You can either change the TypoScript directly in there or use external files and include them.
You have to understand at least the basics of TypoScript and Templating in TYPO3 to make the content you create in the backend appear in the frontend. If you learn from sources in the internet, try to avoid the old ones.
If you need more help, please feel free to join the TYPO3 community at slack (https://forger.typo3.org/slack), where you can ask any kind of TYPO3 related questions. We will happyly hep you to get started.
you just need to add template typescript code.
or other best way is the use the template by install the template from the pre distribution option.
Go to file extension and select from drop down "Get Preconfigured distribution" option and install from their list of available template.
After install successfully you can see page add/edit option have web icon, inside them you can create new page,
It will show page content on view.
I have an existing java web application, servlet based. I plan to add a module to show news articles to visitors. So i choose liferay as our CMS. The solution in my mind is that using an iframe in my web site to show news articles managed by liferay CMS. If i do so, is it convenient for our news editor to manage news articles with liferay CMS? Shall he/she switched to liferay to do this? It seems that the preview function of liferay CMS could guarantee only the inline iframe's visual effect is nice, am i right here?
Besides, could you please advise me a better solution other than iframe based solution?
I am looking forward for your comments, any help here would be appreciated!
Maybe it's better that liferay includes the existing Web app.
I want to create a vBulletin custom plug-in but I am new in vBulletin i don't know about the vBulletin. I have tried to download the plug-ins but only commercial user will download the plug-in.
There is no specific tutorial that you can follow to create a specific product, however there is a good tutorial from vBulletin which gives you a good idea on how to create a vBulletin 'product' that can be downloaded and installed by others.
But basically to create a product you need to learn some basics and you have to know, php, html, css, and have a understanding of how vBulletin works. Then take it and put it all together.
To get a good understanding, I would recommend modifying other people's add-ons to suit your needs. That's how I was able to get a good understanding of how vBulletin works and then all you have to do as you progress, is to ask the right questions.
The recommendations bellow are also supported by well know vBulletin coders.

As a Joomla (novice) developer, I'm concerned about why we really need modules to create our own forms. I'm definitely not an authority on the subject when it comes to Joomla but here's my issue.
I understand (through hands-on discovery) that we can create forms using two ways (without additional custom modules).
By writing the form content straight in the index.php page, then checking for submit using PHP.
By inserting the HTML content for the form as a CustomHTML article using the admin back-end. Then have a separate PHP page to do the processing and return back to a specific landing page.
First I'm not sure if the above methods are considered sane in the joomla world but I do think they're workable.
If so, why do we need to run through rough seas trying to download and install form-builder plug-ins and write code that looks pretty absurd with so many files.
The first solution you mentioned is the worst that could be done. Editing the index.php should never be done. If an update for the template is bought out and you install it, it will override your changes.
The second point you mentioned is also a bad idea. There is no point in using separate PHP pages if you're using the Joomla CMS.
Stick to Joomla standards and create a custom module (not custom HTML module) either by coding it yourself or getting started with a Module Generator.
The whole point of using a CMS is to make life easier. A Joomla site is built of of Components, Modules and Plugins.
Components are like applications such as a Forum, e-commerce system etc. Modules are like widgets such as a twitter feed, shoutbox etc.
Plugins change the behavior of something.
why do we need to run through rough seas trying to download and
install form-builder plug-in?
Trying to download and install a form builder is not difficult at all. Simple go to the Joomla Extensions Directory, go the the necessary category, click on an extension that suits your needs, download and install it and voilĂ .
Is there an existing CMS similar to what the WebPage Maker software can do? For those who don't know what WebPage Maker is, it's a webpage authoring software that features drag and drop functionality which allows users with minimal to no knowledge about HTML, to easily create webpages and publish it to their sites. I want to know if there's a CMS that does the same as this software already?
WebPage Maker's website is http://www.webpage-maker.com/
P.S.
I'm looking for something that I can implement on websites that I make.
You can give mojomotor a try.. It is a paid one. You need to login as admin and then click on the page and edit. The same is possible for small layout changes too.
If you willing to learn some basic installation of other CMS rather than webpage maker, i suggest you use Joomla CMS.

It's very easy to use, hv a try =)
