How can I add JSF project facet to Google App Engine project - eclipse

I can't seem to add the JSF project facet to my GAE project in Eclipse.
It states that it requires Dynamic Web Module 2.5+ but it is not even an option with this project.

You could try installing Jboss Tools first from Eclipse Marketplace

Not able to create Liferay Plugin Project in Eclipse

I am new to liferay and i am trying to create a new Liferay Plugin Project.
I did a right click on package explorer and clicked on 'New Liferay Plugin Project'.
After that i entered the Project and Display name then i selected the Liferay MVC as my portlet framework and i clicked finish.
As soon i click on finish, it shows "Error creating Liferay Plugin Project: Please see eclipse error log for the details".
After this i changed ivy.jar.url in build.properties file from "http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/apache/ivy/ivy/2.3.0/ivy- 2.3.0.jar"
to "=C:\Rahul13615\liferay\plugins.ivy\ivy-2.3.0.jar".
I did and still i am getting the same error.
Maybe it's not exact answer to your question, but for Liferay 6.2 development I recommend using Apache Maven 3 as build tool.
Download Maven separately https://maven.apache.org/ and install.
Then at command line run command (https://dev.liferay.com/develop/tutorials/-/knowledge_base/6-2/creating-liferay-maven-plugins-from-the-command-lin)
mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeCatalog=https://repository.liferay.com/nexus/content/groups/liferay-ce
and choose desired plugin through wizard.
After that import that project as an Maven project to Eclipse IDE.
As you mentioned that you are new to Liferay development I recommend offical Liferay documentation but instead of Liferay MVC I recommend Spring MVC Portlet due to bigger community and documentation. Resources related to Spring development in Liferay couldn't be found at official Liferay documentation so it's better to Google for blog articles etc. I develop at Liferay 6.2, Spring, Spring Webflow, Spring MVC, Thymeleaf, Maven stack and I have few articles related to problems which I came across at my blog http://lukasgrygar.com
Office Network not allowed(Blocking) to create new liferay workspace Project
We are facing some issues while trying to create new workspace in Liferay, When we are in Office network it fails. It's not accepting to auto download eclipse liferay projects's plugins. These repository sites are giving errors on eclipse connection time out.
Note: when we are in Citrix VM or open networks it works perfectly. Browser able to reach, If you hit below mentioned URL in browser.. But Its failing to reach at Eclipse level. https://cdn.lfrs.sl/repository.liferay.com/nexus/content/groups/public/com/liferay/com.liferay.gradle.plugins.workspace/1.5.0/com.liferay.gradle.plugins.workspace-1.5.0.pom
Eclipse Version:Eclipse neon
Liferay Version:7.1

Dynamic Web project Error "Loading descriptor"

In the process of trying to build an android web service using Spring under Eclipse IDE, I need to create a Dynamic Web Project using Maven. The problem I am facing is an error " Loading descriptor for project has encountered a problem. I don't know how to solve this. Any input on that?
If you get the following exception:
Loading descriptor for project has encountered a problem. [...]
Nullpointerexception
right after creating a project, then there are 2 possible causes (or at least that how it was for me, when I had this issue).
1) A web.xml file is missing in your WebContent/WEB-INF folder or was not created during project creation. (in the last window you have to check option "Generate web.xml deployment descriptor" in eclipse, otherwise eclipse won't generate that file)
If your project is already created, you can still add a web.xml file into your WEB-INF directory. Depending on your servlet version (e.g. 2.5) you have to use a different template which can be found on the net.
2) Your Eclipse does not have all the necessary plugins for Dynamic Web projects.
You need to go to Help >> Install new Software
Select the site which corresponds to your eclipse version. (e.g. Kepler - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/kepler )
Install:
JST Server UI
JST Web UI
JST Server Adapters
JST Server Adapters Extension
WST Server Adapters.
You may also need:
Eclipse Java EE Developer tools
Eclipse Java Web Developer tools
Java Server Faces tools or JSF tools
Eclipse faceted Project Framework
Eclipse faceted Project Framework JDT Enablement
install Java EE web developer tools from Help >> "Install new Software".
check in project properties "Project Facets" should have proper check boxes enabled eg Dynamic Web Project etc.
I know this is late but may be useful for others.
In web.xml there may be some attribute repated in web-app tag.
In my case xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee" attribute in repeated in tag web-app.
Install Eclipse Java Development tools from Help >> "Install new Software".

what's the difference between "dynamic web project" with JSF facet and "JSF project"?

When I install "web tools platform" plugins in Eclipse I have a new type of project I can create, called "dynamic web project". In such project I can add JSF facet and then use it to make JSF application.
But when I install "jboss tools" plugins I have a project type called just "JSF project".
What's the difference between both types of projects? Why have jboss tools people created their own type of JSF project?
Eclipse plugins are created to achieve some commonly used/desired configurations at much ease. As you said, you can create a Dynamic Web Prject and then perform couple of steps to convert/support JSF. JSF project is created with those required configuration already done for you.
Same example you can apply even between, a simple project(created though New -> General->Project option) and Dynamic Web Project i.e. you may create a simple project, create files/folders, update the class path etc manually and achieve the same which is directly available through Dynamic Web Project option. These plug-ins/options help you avoid several manual steps to reach a commonly desired functionality. JSF project is no exception.

Can't find web project in Eclipse

I simply can't find new Web Application Project or Web Project when I click New->Project in Eclipse. Any ideas??
Have you installed the necessary plugins for web development in eclipse?
Did you mean New->Other->Web->( Dynamic Web application or Static Web Application etc. ). I am using a Java EE Eclipse Helios version.
You are probably missing the Google Plugin for Eclipse.

Integrate War-Plugin for m2eclipse into Eclipse Project

I set up a small web project with JSF and Maven. Now I want to deploy on a Tomcat server. Is there a possibility to automate that like a button in Eclipse that automatically deploys the project to Tomcat?
I read about a the Maven War Plugin but I couldn't find a tutorial how to integrate that into my process (eclipse/m2eclipse).
Can you link me to help or try to explain it. Thanks.
I set up a small web project with JSF and maven. Now I want to deploy on a Tomcat Server.
During development I recommend to use Eclipse Web Tools Platform (WTP). M2Eclipse provides support for it (assuming you have Maven Integration for WTP installed) and your project should be recognized as a Dynamic Web Project runnable on a Server.
So, declare Tomcat as a Server (show the Servers view and right-click in it to add a Server via New > Server). And deploy your project to it (right-click on your project then Run > Run on Server).
There are other options like using the Tomcat Maven Plugin or the generic Cargo Maven Plugin but I wouldn't use them for development and, since you are a Maven beginner, I don't recommend them at all. Use your IDE.
I read about a the Maven War Plugin but I couldn't find a tutorial how to integrate that into my process.
Actually, the Maven War Plugin is only responsible of the packaging of your webapp project (it is bound automatically on the package phase when using a <packaging>war<packaging> for your project). It isn't used for deployment. But as I said, use your IDE to deploy your application during development.
The war plugin is for generating war files, not for deploying them. What you are asking for may be provided by the Cargo Plugin. Another interesting candidate for you could be the jetty-maven-plugin.
