How do I add a new project to source control (SVN) using Xcode 5?
In "Source Controller" only checkout is clickable and all other are unclickable.
i have existing copy of my project. And i want to upload this app on SVN. how add existing copy to SVN in XCode 5.
As in image you can see all other options are unclickable. i want to add this project to SVN.

Use following steps for checkout latest version from SVN server
Xcode click on checkout button (Source Control -> checkout)
Enter your repository location and click next
Select project from project list (Stored on svn server)
Select location where you want to store project and press checkout
Upload existing project to SVN server
Open terminal and move to your project path
cd 'Your project path'
In following comment add server path and execute it
svn import 'Your Project Path' 'Server path' "Initial Import”

First of all you should close Xcode, locate your project in the Finder, and create a directory hierarchy appropriated for SVN
/projectdir
/projectdir/branches
/projectdir/tags
/projectdir/trunk
Then, you should put your Xcode project directory into trunk.
Once you've done that, and created your repository on your server using svnadmin create PATH-TO-PROJECTDIR, you can import your local copy into the newly created repository on the server. Note that svnadmin doesn't create intermediate directories contained in PATH-TO-PROJECTDIR.
Use svn import projectdir svn+ssh://your-server-url/your-repository-path -m "First commit".
Now you are able to check out your trunk (with Xcode or svn command) and version control in Xcode will be enabled.

EGit creates separate project folder in repository

I'm struggling to create a repository for my Maven project in Eclipse. Whatever I try it turns out like so:
\ProjectA
----\.git
----\ProjectA
--------\src
--------\pom.xml
While I'd like it to be like so:
\ProjectA
----\.git
----\src
----\pom.xml
Is there any way for it to not create a separate folder under the working tree?
I'm not sure if it is the only or the best way, but creating empty repo from git directly then moving files and reimporting in Eclipse did the trick.
In case anyone needs this later:
In folder you want your repo in:
git init
Copy your sources and pom.xml and other needed files there (I also recommend creating .gitignore file at this point), then:
git add --all
git commit --m "Initial commit msg"
Then open Eclipse, delete your project and reimport it as existing Maven project directly from your repo. In my case it already recognized repo as well.
From my understanding, you are trying to create a Git repository with a single Eclipse project, located at the root of the work directory.
open the EGit Repositories view and select the Create a new Repository action
enter the name of the directory in which the repository should be created and select Finish
make sure that auto-sharing projects is enabled (enabled by default, in doubt, see Preferences > Team > Git > Projects)
open the New Java Project and enter a project name
uncheck Use default workspace location and enter the exact same path as the repository work directory (see 2.)
go to the Package Explorer, select the new project, open the context menu and select Configure > Convert to Maven Project
The detour of creating a Java project first and then converting it into a Maven project seems necessary because the New Maven Project wizard apparently always adds the Group Id to the location path.

How can I start a project on GitLab repo with Eclipse?

Good morning.
I just create a GitLab private repo to work in a project with some people. When I add GitLab repo to Eclipse, it says there aren't projects (and it's true). I would know how to create a project and sync with online repo so other members can see my project and codes.
I tried to start a project in git\repoName\ folder, then right-click and choose Team->Commit, but changes wouldn't save (in gitLab repo's website, it says "Repo is empty").
I tried to follow some online guides, but without success.

Eclipse 4.2 and newer, comes default with (E)Git installed. There is a good Eclipse git tutorial from Vogella.
Create a GitLab git repository
Log into GitLab
Create a project / git repository
Copy the https url from the project, used for cloning

Now all the git functionality from Eclipse can be used.
I assume you have a cloned repository available in Eclipse (eGit) that is empty. If not, follow the steps in the answer from Verhagen.
By now, you have a cloned repository that is marked with "[NO HEAD]", indicating that no commit has been made.
Start creating a new project by using your project type of choice; I'll use Java project for simplicity: File menu > New > Java project
in the New Java Project wizard un-tick the "Use default Workspace location" checkbox; instead, choose the directory where you cloned your empty GitLab project, and append the name of the project (this is to make Eclipse create a directory inside the repository, just in case you later want to create more projects in the same repo).
Fill in the wizard as you usually do. When you are done with the different steps, you'll have a new project, that is also marked with "[NO HEAD]"
Create some source files you want to share (e.g. HelloWorld.java)
Synchronize workspace (right click on the new project > Team > Synchronize workspace) you will see that now there are files to commit. Pay attention to those files, since some of them ( .gitignore, and maybe .classpath, .project,.settings directory... depending on how you share your projects) you'll want to add to the .gitignore.
right click on the files you want to commit, fill in the commit message and click "Commit and Push". Click Next
Since it is a new repository, you'll have to configure the Push action. I selected HEAD as source and HEAD as destination. You might want to do the same, at least for this first commit+push; later on, you might choose to add some specs for branches, etc.
The Push Confirmation will show you that the new branch master:master will be created.
Both project and repository lost the "[NO HEAD]" marking
You can check gitlab site to confirm your files are there.

Target location for project " " already exists, can not move project

when I am trying to share my project with git repository getting exception like this

Writing an answer because I tried many options suggested in many similar questions but none worked. Then I did it manually with following steps that worked, and these steps will work for any Eclipse version:
Goto the Eclipse workspace in the file system and copy the project from there and paste it in some other location in your file system. This will serve as a backup.
Goto your Eclipse and then right click on the project and click delete. You can say delete from the file system because you've already taken a backup in step1.
Goto your Git repo in the file system and paste the project folder at the location you want (may be inside another folder with .project file doesn't matter).
Then come back to your Eclipse and then File->Import -> Import from Git -> Local repo -> Select the Git local repo where you've pasted the project in step 3 and then import it as usual.
As I said earlier, this will work for any Eclipse version.
This situation will happen if you already have a Project of the same name in your local git repository. Sharing a project means steps to commit your project into your local git repository and from there it as ORIGIN will be pushed to Master (Remote). (You are creating again with a new eclipse IDE, or that project was deleted from IDE but committed to local repository in the past).
Solution is simple:
Remove the project from your local git repository.
C:\Users\username\git on windows operating system. (If this not possible then next step)
Rename the project in your IDE (Better recreate a project with same code but with new Project name) that you want to share: repeat the process of sharing on Eclipse IDE.
You may optionally want to recreate after dropping the remote repository(master), if something is already pushed from last push of project, so that everything is clean. You may visit the git repository to confirm it.
In my case this was caused by an extraneous .project and related Eclipse files at the top of the git repository folder. The files were created by Eclipse due to incorrect folder specified on Import of the other projects in the repo.

Configuration of Subversion in Xcode

I want to configure SVN on my computer.
For that how would I create a repository?
How to give all the paths needed?
I am using Mac os 10.7.3 Lion and Xcode 4.2.
To setup your Subversion repository in XCode 4, go to File → Source Control → Manage Repositories. Once there, you will see an option to add a repository:
After selecting Add Repository option, you will need to enter your Subversion repository URL and the name you wish to add to your repository:
Click next, and on next step you should see an option to setup paths to your folders in your svn repository. There are three folders which are usually created by default when you use svn, and they are called /trunk, /tags, /branches. In case you don't have this folders, you can skip this step, it's optional.
Now you should see in XCode organizer your repository in the sidebar. What we would like to do is add one of our projects to Subversion so we can use version control for the project. We would like to add the project to /trunk folder of our repository. In order to do this, click on the /trunk folder, and then click on the import button.
When you click import, select the folder of files which you would like to import. Then you will be prompted to enter a commit message. After this, click refresh, and you should see the new files added to your repository.
Now your project is under version control, and you should be able to see it in your Beanstalk account, in your repository. All you need to do now is checkout the files to a location of your preference, and open the project from this location.
When you open the project, you will see flags next to all files you modify, add or delete and you will see an option to commit the files.

How do I configure Git in Xcode to work with BitBucket

I have a project which I have been on for ages which is not connected to any source code repository.
I want to start using BitBucket now, however I am not sure how to go about it. I have created a project in BitBucket.
Should I now clone and check out in Xcode or should I add a repository in xcode. Anyone have any idea?
I have tried cloning using the URL from bitbucket but it just comes back with an error in Xcode
I've met the same problem and here's how I solved it:
(Assume your project is not already under local source control) Create a new project under LOCAL source control (Please note that adding remote source control at this stage may not be successful)
Make this new project a clone of your old project - drag files, add frameworks, etc.
In menu "Source Control" -> -> "Configure "
In the new window, click on "Remotes" -> "+" -> "Add Remote"
Name: anything (you can use "BitBucket")
Address: https://accountname#bitbucket.org/accountname/reponame.git
"Source Control" -> "Commit"
Select "push to remote" at the left bottom corner
Click "Commit"
Check on BitBucket website to see if it's actually pushed to it
As of 2017, xCode now automatically creates repositories for new projects. To push to a new BitBucket repo, go to 'Source Control' > 'Commit...' in xCode and make your first local commit.
Next open a terminal and navigate to to the top-level directory of your project. If you ls -a in here you should see the .git/ directory has been created. In the same directory, add your remote repo with the following (replace with your username/team name and repo name):
git remote add origin https://USERNAME#bitbucket.org/USERNAME/REPO_NAME.git
Go back into xCode, go to 'Source Control' > 'Push...'. You'll be prompted to enter your BitBucket password. Press OK and you're done! Source control commands will now be working within xCode.
I did that through command line and it is fairly straightforward.
create a new repo on bitbucket
assuming your xcode project is not under local git version control yet
go to command line, cd to your xcode project directory, and the follow the bitbucket doc: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BITBUCKET/Import+code+from+an+existing+project
git init
git remote add origin git#bitbucket.org:<user_id>/<repo>.git
git add .
git commit -am 'init commit'
git push -u origin master
go back to xcode and you should be able to interact with bitbucket through xcode from this point on

It is easier to:
create your local Git repo through XCode and add your code there
in command line, add the remote 'origin' toward your BitBucket repo, along with your ssh credentials (in ~/.ssh/config): see

-Sign-up for BitBucket and create a repo
-In Xcode go to Source Control menu

Now you have it set up whenever you want to push code to the project:

To get code provided by others down from BitBucket:

I use SourceTree and Xcode 6.1 and in my case I first create a repository on bitbucket, then I clone my repository on an empty folder (using SourceTree or via command line) then when you create the new project on XCode in that folder, you can commit push and pull normally from XCode
I found this youtube video and it helped me a lot, used this Atlasssian help for ssh authentication, and encountered an Xcode problem for which the solution can be found in this page.
Most simplest way is go to
Xcode > preference > #accounts > click '+' button on corner left
... then this popup will appear ...
just click Bitbucket Cloud ...
Enter ID with password...
And that's it...
