jboss keeps automatically hot deploying/undeploying - jboss

Why does my jboss keeps automatically hot deploying/undeploying my web aplication? I am not changing any code!!
"17:35:23,365 INFO [TomcatDeployment] undeploy, ctxPath=/Resolucao56"

I realised that when you edit the pages.xml, a file is created with the name .pages.xml.spdia
You have to delete this file!

cannot start weblogic from netbeans after windows 7 BSOD

after a BSOD in Windows 7 something gets corrupted and NetBeans cannot start a local WebLogic 10 server it didn't have any problems with before.
there is also a peculiar message appearing in NetBeans notification, with message and stacktrace almost identical to those reported in a filed NetBeans bug report:
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: hostname can't be null

I tried multiple restarts since then, multiple netbeans restarts, tried even both NetBeans 8.1 and 9 - when starting WebLogic, NetBeans just is stuck with "Starting ..." message and never stops. You actually have to forcefully close NetBeans to stop this.
at some point i tried to start weblogic outside NetBeans, and saw that it was failing to start, with a message approximately like this from this Oracle forum thread:
<Critical> <WebLogicServer> <BEA-000362> <Server failed. Reason: [Management:141268]Parsing Failure in config.xml on line 1, column 1: Content is not allowed in prolog.>
Well, indeed there is a directory inside WebLogic domain I was trying to start called "config", with a file "config.xml" there (and a config.loc - deleting it didn't make any difference) - so I tried to look into config.xml and WOW it was totally corrupted. So that was the reason nothing started. I tried to just delete this file (config.xml) (in the above Oracle forum thread they also suggest to delete the domain - but this was not an option for me as it wasn't an integrated server) - after trying to start the server manually again, WebLogic starter script politely asked me if I want it to create a new default config.xml, since the old one was not found - answering yes worked and I am back in business (i hope :P)
of course, i lost some (EDIT: not all) of the custom settings i did in WebLogic configuration since installing it - I lost the custm data sources, but users and user groups were retained. if only i had backed up this config.xml :( anyway.
(EDIT: probably backing up config.xml wouldn't make sense - anyway - i think it keeps the reference to data source for all the deployed applications - so - you don't have to recreate a data source - you just have to redeploy your application(s))

Weblogic creating EAR folder in WL_User temp folder

Trying to restart from command line weblogic server but it is picking up EAR file i deployed from Eclipse previously. Thought it was some kinda caching issue so opened/closed eclipse and cmd no help. Still picking up this EAR even when i delete it manually from the temp folder WL_User. Cant start weblogic from Eclipse as weblogic closes suddenly due to VM shutdown request and eclipse hangs on publishing state. Not sure why it does that too no error messages except BEA: VM requested Shutdown.
Very confusing how it is picking it up. Really want to understand why? Thanks for help in advance.
Your weblogic domain is in a bad state. Normally I would suggest removing a deployment by opening the weblogic admin console and navigating to Deployments and then deleting the problematic deployment. If you can't do that, try the following:
Navigate to <domain folder>/servers/<server causing problems>
Delete the tmp, data, cache, and logs folders
Restart your server.
Another option (you should only use if you are really stuck) is to edit the following file:
<domain folder>/config/config.xml
search for and remove your <app-deployment>
If it still doesn't work, you have other problems with your VM. Edit the question and add more info as necessary.

WildFly 8.2, after every change in html file I need to perform full publish to see the changes, why?

After every change in HTML(XHTML) page of a web project, either it is JSF or a simple WAR I need to perform a Full Publish to see the changes. After some googling I found the solution to change in Management Console - Publishing settings to Automatically publishing when resources change and set publishing interval to 0, but it doesns't help. What can I do more to resolve this issue?
I'm using WildFly 8.2 on Mac Maverick.
Thank you in advance.
you can deploy exploded war file instead of war archive. Only make sure that folder name has .war in its name e.g myApp.war.
After that you can configure wildfly deployment-scanner to auto deploy exploded content. This can be done in your config file e.g. standalone.xml.
See https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/WFLY8/Deployment+Scanner+configuration
Config example:
<deployment-scanner scan-interval="5000" relative-to="jboss.server.base.dir" path="deployments" auto-deploy-zipped="true" auto-deploy-exploded="true"/>
Had the same problem. In standalone.xml i added the attribute
auto-deploy-exploded="true"
and the problem started. After removing the attribute it returned to the same behaviour as before.
There was a bug in JBoss 7 which was about processing this attribute not properly (or at all) but its status is resolved and it should work now. Obviously it doesn't or i am doing something wrong.
After setting auto-deploy-exploded="true" I was't able to deploy application. Deployment copies stuff in "deployment" and then scanner triggers and starts another deployment of the same app witch results in error

Eclipse 3.5 Cache Problem

I am using eclipse 3.5 with google app engine + spring framework to develop application. My problem is when I change the code and build the project, the new code doesn't come in to effect. I even deleted the old file but at runtime, the old version gets display in the browser. Why?
Your description is not explicit, so following are my assumptions:
You are changing jsp/js or view related files
You have Google app engine plugin for eclipse to deploy the code
Following might be one of the reasons:
Your view files are cached in the browser, so try deleting the browser cache
Google app engine might have cached your files, so try deleting the temp folder
Eclipse IDE wouldn't have deployed your changed code, so check the timestamp, if it still shows the old timestamp, then find out how to configure eclipse to detect your changes.
I found 3 workarounds for similar issue (changes to a servlet (.java file) were not taking effect).
Before editing the .java file, stop the application. It seems that if you edit it while running, the issue occurs, even if you edit it, stop then re-start.
Delete items in Temp folder e.g, (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp), then stop and re-start the app.
I think the culprit folder in the Temp folder is this:Jetty_127_0_0_1_8888_war__.g0qk00
Right click in in the console area and select 'Remove All Terminated'. Sometimes that reveals there are other instances running, which need to be stopped by clicking the terminate button.
I got the similar issue and the problem was due to not stopping the running server.
What i was doing was running the server, editing the java file, saving and again running the server. This created two instances of the server running and when checking into the browsers the old code was executed from the first instances.
So, the solution is terminate and relaunch the server, and your new changes will be in effect.

JBoss Application Server redeploy

I need a windows shell script which will redeploy my .ear file. I wrote one:
net stop "JBAS50SVC"
copy /y O:\TEMP\app.ear C:\jboss-4.2.3.GA\server\default\deploy\app.ear
net start "JBAS50SVC"
But the problem is that when I try to stop the JBoss service it does not fully unload itself (my suggestion), so when I start it there's no app deployed in JBoss.
You mentioned that JBoss becomes very slow when you use autoDeploy and keep the server running for a month or more. That's likely to be because your permanent generation memory is filling up over time. See this related question.
I think you'd be best served by using the autoDeploy feature as other suggest, and restarting the entire server periodically to clear out PermGen. There's several ways to track PermGen utilization; I add the following to JAVA_OPTS in run.conf:
-XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+PrintHeapAtGC -XX:+PrintTenuringDistribution -Xloggc:$LOGDIR/gc.log
Typically to redeploy an application that is self-contained in an ear in jboss just requires replacing the ear. If there is more to the application (such as classes that have to go in the jboss lib directory) then it may require a restart.
In terms of how to restart it, it depends what you are using to start jboss as a service. Some service starters do not actually control the jvm after they start it, so restarting the service just starts a second instance. You can shutdown jboss with the shutdown script in the JBOSS_HOME/bin directory (shutdown.bat) and then deploy and restart the service. Be sure to pause when you do this, as the shutdown command will issue the shutdown request, the server may still be running.
You can just COPY/RENAME the EAR file to deploy directory. JBoss will automatically take care of re-deployment for you.
As mentioned earlier jboss automatically deploys everything you copy into the deploy directory by default.
If not, check if you are working on a vhost that doesnt autodeploy ear files.
<Host name="vhost2" autoDeploy="false" .... />
other than that, I feel like this is a totally different error due to the fact that jboss takes care of deployment for you. Please check the log files for startup errors of your application.
You might want to check the JBoss community wiki on this, there are undoubtedly easier and more reliable methods than a batch file.
Stopping the server should not undeploy the application - that wouldn't make much sense.
