we offer our users the ability to use facebook to sign up on our site and until recently this was working fine.
Since 2 days ago (October 30th) we noticed our registrations using facebook significantly dropped (from around 50-100/day down to 1!) and when taking a look at the process we found that the registration was being cut off and only a small part was showing.
This is how it looks now: http://i.imgur.com/i4UCkAx.jpg
If I look at the source of the facebook iframe I can see the html tag has overflow set to hidden and if I disable this using Firebug everything looks as it should. But since this is on facebooks end there's nothing I can do about it to prevent it happening to our customers.
Has anyone else run in to this problem and found a solution?
The bug has been reported to facebook here: http://developers.facebook.com/bugs/471852109598483/

I've been using the Facebook Plugin for years, on dozens of websites, but all of a sudden, I can only see the page's facebook header, the actual feed appears only as a spinning icon. This is on my desktop and mobile device, feed is at the bottom of the page. https://saltydogfestival.com

However, my co-worker in the desk across from me tried it on his desktop and laptop and the feed loads just fine.
I'm not a page admin for this particular feed.
I have this plugin for other facebook pages, for which I AM an Admin, and those don't show up for me, either. I've tried using Chrome and Edge.
I'm knocking my head against the wall with this.... or maybe it's something so simple that I'm not seeing it... Suggestions??? Please save what's left of my sanity!
I think this issue has affected many sites including mine. I used a third party plugin recently that's said to no affect page speed. It's called "Buttonizer - Smart Floating Action Button" you can add a FB messenger button also and add call to action and any they button as well. I have disabled the Facebook chat one for now. If you can update me if it's now work for you that would be great as I'm in the same boat. Email mtgusto#outlook.com
Edited - bug seems resolved
This is what worked for me:
Go to Facebook Developers - Page Plugin and configure the 'widget' with desired params.
As you change the parameters the preview should update & show. If it doesn't, try signing out.
Click "Get Code" beneath the preview. I used the JavaScript SDK method.
Copy & paste the first piece of code after the < body > tag.
Copy & paste the second piece of code where the box should appear.
Previous answer - leaving here for posterity / reference
It seems to be an issue with Facebook that occurs when the visitor is signed in to Facebook. Try viewing the page in a private window or reload after you have signed out of Facebook to see if it loads when you are not signed in.
There's more information on a Facebook Developers bug report, which was just marked as closed 8/26, although it still appears to be happening: https://developers.facebook.com/support/bugs/584988619248795/
This other community thread has a work-around - look for Dave's comment: https://developers.facebook.com/community/threads/1018223139108570/
I inserted the facebook code where required and absolutely nothing happens or shows up. Using dreamweaver cs6 and in live view or when testing in ANY browser, nothing shows up. It's a blank box. ANy thoughts? I read somewhere that the website must be made into an application of facebook? Is this something?
Specifically, after activating the plugin and properly connecting the plugin to the facebook app, which does work and has been used extensively before hand, comments simply fail to load. There is no comment box, no past comments pull in either (note the app has historical comments already).
In the plugin settings area on the right side of the screen where the comments check box exists, there is a read more link that takes you to the facebook developers page where it discusses adding the facebook comments iframe.
If there is some other location where comment settings might also exist (past the three fields that require the 2 keys and the app name) I could not find them and this was not referenced in the plugin setup.
This question is similar to: Facebook Error 191 on canvas app using FB.ui() for the 'feed' dialog (worked before, stopped working last week) which was never answered.
Starting today, after the user likes the page and enters the contest, the share dialog which presented itself stopped working and gave:
API Error Code: 191
API Error Description: The specified URL is not owned by the application
Error Message: redirect_uri is not owned by the application.
when logged in as an admin and just an error occurred for other users. This tab has been running well for a while now. I have confirmed it with an associate of mine. They did make a change to another part of the app (yesterday and today) but the sharing was still working until this afternoon. They did not change the part that generates the dialog.
The tab is: https://www.facebook.com/MedjoolDates/app_355398587864294
Anyone have any insight? Feel free to use 'cancel' rather than sharing and fake data to sign up, then unlike the page if you wish.
Thanks in advance.
David
Same problem here, there is a bug posted on Facebook Developes here:
https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/273845842724431
Can't help much without seeing your code.
One thing to check, make sure your redirection_uri is exactly as your domain registered with FB and that you include a trailing / ie http://www.myurl.com/ rather than http://www.myurl.com
I can't answer why it changed, but I had that error fixed by the above change before.
I am having the same issue. Am developing a new app with FB.ui feed functionality, which worked OK yesterday and today it gives the same error as OP.
Went back and checked an > 1 year old app with the same functionality; same error. I cannot see any other solution, than the FB dev team has changed something and not given notice.
On the facebook documentation page if you click the "Send" button in the default example, it pops open a new window that looks to be just the like/send button repeated.
I take it this is because it's broken in some way, either that or my browser (and that of my colleagues is severely broken)
Does anyone else suffer from the same fate? Does anyone have a fix?
Side note - on our website this was working fine yesterday, it appears to be a new issue.
There's a bug report about that: Send button opens new tab.
Also, looks like there are a few issues with the button as you can see in the bugs tagged with Send Button
I haven't voted you down (I rarely do), and I have no idea what were the reasons for that, but it is better to first research before asking a question here, as you can see it was easy to locate the bug(s) in the official facebook bugging report system, also if you search here you'll find more questions regarding this issue (and a few from today).
Yes, I have found that the code issued by Facebook for combination Send/Button is not working as of Sept. 27 2013. The Send button throws up a blank screen, instead of the Facebook email dialog box. This code from here https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/ did not work. Note this applies to JavaScript code, not old IFRAME code which is being deprecated.

I have a facebook like button on each of my wordpress blog posts, this worked fine up until about 2 weeks ago, and now all recent blog posts don't have functioning like buttons.
This is the response I get when I click the like button (post link)
for (;;);{"__ar":1,"payload":{"requires_login":false,"success":false,"already_connected":false,"is_admin":false,"show_error":false,"error_info":null}}
and for the old blog posts that DO work (post link):
for (;;);{"__ar":1,"payload":{"requires_login":false,"error_info":null,"show_error":false,"node_type":"ExternalLink","node_id":"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx","edge_type":"ExternalLinkLike","connect_text":0,"success":true,"already_connected":true,"user_profile":{"name":"xxxxxxx","profile_url":"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/xxxxxxx","pic_square":"http:\/\/profile.ak.fbcdn.net\/hprofile-ak-snc4\/xxxxxx_xxxxxxxxx_xxxxxxx_x.jpg"},"story_fbid":"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx","is_admin":false,"admin_url":""},"invalidate_cache":[0]}
I've tried replacing the like box code, removing the href attribute from the like box tag, running each link through Facebook URL Linter and none of this has worked!
I don't understand why it works for old blog posts and not new ones, there are no differences between them (that I know of).
This issue has nothing to do with your code. It is a FB issue I encounter on my websites as well. Did some research and came up with this:
this behavior is intermittent, may work on some pages, may fail on others
if you go on this page: http://developers.facebook.com/tools/lint/ and enter your url there, first time it will show up an error, afterwards the page will load. Hit some refreshes and afterwards the like button on your site (on the entered url) will suddenly start working... Very weird! I think it has something to do with FB crawler and (maybe) when accessing the lint tool you somehow force the crawler to recheck your page or something.
If anyone finds out something else, please share, the issue is really annoying...
Looking at the forums here:
http://forum.developers.facebook.net/viewforum.php?id=53
It looks like several other developers are running into the same issue. Some posts there also brought up having to use the lint tool to get their like buttons to work. I've also gotten it to work on my site by just mashing the Like button until it eventually accepts it so like what hpuiu said, i'm pretty confident that this problem's on their end.
Edit: And maybe on a related note, another post said that FB stopped scraping their site until they used the lint tool on their page and another said that they seem to consistently get this issue for any new posts that're around for less than 24 hours.
You could try to add the Iframe version of the like box instead of their javascript version. Sometimes it actually works better when loading multiple post for example.
Facebook doesn't like the '/' at the end of the url. So you can use something like this to omit the '/' at the end of the url :
$title = get_permalink();
<fb:like href="<?php echo substr($title, 0, -1); ?>" layout="button_count" width="300" show_faces="false"></fb:like>
