addthis share vs custom share button - share

i need to add to my website a share-feature.
this php page should allow users to share my webiste on the social network, but i need to set a custom url, title, description and image.
i have try with addthis share buttons, but i m not sure that is possibile to fully customize the buttons... right?
there are other services like that? or in my case is better to add share button with facebook api, twitter api,..?
this is the addthis share code:
<div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style addthis_32x32_style">
<a class="addthis_button_preferred_1"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_preferred_2"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_preferred_3"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_preferred_4"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_compact"></a>
<a class="addthis_counter addthis_bubble_style"></a>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=xx"></script>

You can set a custom title, url and description by specifying addthis:title, addthis:url and addthis:description tags in you toolbox HTML like this:
<div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style addthis_32x32_style"
addthis:url="http://example.com"
addthis:title="An Example Title"
addthis:description="An Example Description">
However, Facebook and some other services don't respect the values sent to them and scrape your page for og:title, og:url and og:description tags. So to be safe, specify the above in your AddThis code and also specify the same values for your og tags. You can read more about the og tags here:
http://www.addthis.com/blog/2012/09/27/debugging-sharing-to-facebook

How to add custom image to each of the multiple facebook share buttons? I have multiple share buttons in single page

I have tried og:image meta tag as given here https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/like-button. This seem to support one image for one page, and facebook seem to be assuming that you need one share button in one html page.
Also, a similar looking question - Multiple Facebook, Twitter share buttons in one page with custom image and title does not answer custom image to each of the multiple share buttons in page. Here's how I'm adding og:image for each insertion. Below snippet is in the loop.
Thanks a ton for the help in advance.
<div class="row">
<div class="col-sm-12">
<% #map_url = ('http://maps.google.com/?q='.to_s + #user.address.to_s) %>
<small><%= link_to #user.address, #map_url, target: "_blank", style: 'color:#0645AD;' %>
</small>
<% #facebook_comment_url = ('https://wobbleapp.in/users/'.to_s + #user.id.to_s) %>
<meta property="fb:app_id" content="XXXXXXXXXX" />
<meta property="og:url" content= <% #facebook_comment_url%> />
<meta property="og:image" content="https://d2l5nbch64gdxx.cloudfront.net/uploads/user/image/47287/upload_image.jpeg" />
<meta property="og:description" content="Potholes in your locality!" />
<div class="fb-like pt-2"
data-href= <%= #facebook_comment_url %>
data-layout="standard" data-action="like" data-size="small" data-show-faces="true" data-share="true"></div>
<div
class="fb-comments"
data-href= <%= #facebook_comment_url %> ></div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
You need to have one webpage (eg. http://example.com/) to have the FB share button script and html tags, as per Multiple Facebook, Twitter share buttons in one page with custom image and title
Then you need each image webpage (eg. http://example.com/image/1) to have the Open Graph meta tags, as per https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/opengraph/using-objects#objectapi
You do not put the <meta property="..."> tags on the same page as the FB share button script and tags. This is what WizKid and CBroe were trying to explain in the comments.

Creating a Facebook share button with customized url, title and image

Facebook used to allow custom parameters in the Facebook share button, but it is not working now. What I need is to create a Facebook share button which will have a custom title, url, image, description, etc. It cannot be done using meta tags because there are multiple share buttons on a single page. Each should have a different title, urls, images etc. I heard it can be done using the Facebook app - using app id or something.
I tried this but it's not working:
<a title="send to Facebook"
href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?s=100&p[title]=YOUR_TITLE&p[summary]=YOUR_SUMMARY&p[url]=YOUR_URL&p[images][0]=YOUR_IMAGE_TO_SHARE_OBJECT"
target="_blank">
Unfortunately, it appears that we can't post shares for individual topics or articles within a page. It appears Facebook just wants us to share entire pages (based on url only).
There's also their new share dialog, but even though they claim it can do all of what the old sharer.php could do, that doesn't appear to be true.
And here's Facebooks 'best practices' for sharing.
This is the code as 2017:
<i class="fa fa-facebook-square"></i>
Share on Facebook
Facebook now takes all data from OG metatags.
NOTE: This code assumes you have OG metatags on in site's code.
Source
Use facebook feed dialog instead of share dialog.
Example:
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/feed?app_id=1389892087910588
&redirect_uri=https://scotch.io
&link=https://scotch.io
&picture=http://placekitten.com/500/500
&caption=This%20is%20the%20caption
&description=This%20is%20the%20description
Crude, but it works on our system:
<div class="block-share spread-share p-t-md">
<a href="http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=http://www.voteleavetakecontrol.org/our_affiliates&title=Farmers+for+Britain+have+made+the+sensible+decision+to+Vote+Leave.+Be+part+of+a+better+future+for+us+all.+Please+share!"
target="_blank">
<button class="btn btn-social btn-facebook">
<span class="icon icon-facebook">
</span>
Share on Facebook
</button>
</a>
<a href="https://www.facebook.com/FarmersForBritain" target="_blank">
<button class="btn btn-social btn-facebook">
<span class="icon icon-facebook">
</span>
Like on Facebook
</button>
</a>
</div>

Customizing Addthis Plugin - passing url using classic asp

I am having lots of problems while coming up with a solution.
I have a website that share text or image greetings( text greeting only at this time) on facebook or twitter etc. I planed to use Addthis.
So I created a function like this
<%
Function DisplayShareDiv(surl, sT, sSummary)
%>
<div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style addthis_32x32_style"
addthis:url="<%=surl%>"
addthis:title="<%=sT %>"
id="addthis_container"
addthis:Description="<%=sSummary%>">
<a class="addthis_button_facebook"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_twitter"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_google_plusone"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_email"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_compact"></a>
<a class="addthis_counter addthis_bubble_style"></a>
</div>
<script type="text/javascript">var addthis_config = { "data_track_addressbar": true };</script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="//s7.addthis.com/js/300/addthis_widget.js#pubid=###################3"></script>
<!-- AddThis Button END -->
<%
end function
%>
Now problem is that title appears when click on facebook or twitter but url doesn't. I also want to add the description to it. I have og tags too but they need to be dynamic too and i am having problems with fb not picking up that info either. Even though i have run it through debugger. I am at it for 2 days and it is now all a mish mash. I would really appreciate if someone can please help me!!
Now I'm getting this. Is that as you require?
I think facebook was picking up an old version of your page.
The text it picked up were from the OG and description meta tags on your home page.
If you run your page through their debugging tool, that forces it to scrape the latest version of your page. Plus you might get some useful info too. https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

Facebook share button is scraping a different page's info

I have this code for a Facebook custom share button:
<script>
function fbs_click() {
u=location.href;
t=document.title;
window.open('http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u='+encodeURIComponent(u)+'&t='+encodeURIComponent(t),'sharer','toolbar=0,status=0,width=626,height=436');
return false;
}
</script>
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=<;url>" onclick="return fbs_click()" target="_blank" class="fb_share_link">
<img src="../../../../../image/photography/pics/fb-share.png" alt="Share this!" width="57" height="21" border="0">
</a>
This is supposed to scrape info from the page but for some reason it doesn't and it gets redirected to the site's main index.html.
I've tried adding facebook og tags and the extra code in the but to no avail.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: Having been told that the share function has been deprecated, I tried to do this with the feed dialog:
<a href="https://www.facebook.com/dialog/feed?link=http://www.travel2italy.com/Travel/Italy/Company/photography/index.html&picture=http://www.travel2italy.com/image/photography/pics/homepage/florence1-home.jpg&name=travel2italy.com&caption=Photo%20Gallery&description=A%20Beautiful%20photo%20of%20Florence&redirect_uri=http://www.travelive.com" target="_blank">
<img src="../../../../../image/photography/pics/fb-share.png" alt="Tweet this!" width="57" height="21" border="0">
</a>
but when i click on the link it takes me to facebook and says an error occured, wth?!:(
EDIT 2:
I wasn't aware that the app_id argument is needed, signed up for an app and it works now, but it strips away the #section I have at the end of the link (i want it to link to a specific slide in a slideshow)
EDIT 3:
Now some of the share buttons using the sharer do seem to work but don't pull all the photos off the page for me to choose the one i want, this is insane-o, could it just be a caching issue?

AddThis button + Facebook Like button

I am trying to use AddThis button on a web page of mine, which you can share, like (facebook), and tweet (twitter) -
the AddThis code is pretty straight forward below,
<!-- AddThis Button BEGIN -->
<div id="share" class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style ">
<a class="addthis_button_facebook_like" fb:like:layout="button_count"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_tweet"></a>
<a class="addthis_counter addthis_pill_style"></a><!---->
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://s7.addthis.com/js/250/addthis_widget.js#username=xa-4cdb5be51dc49c98"></script>
<!-- AddThis Button END -->
but I don't understand - in the code above, where can I put the image or video url which I have uploaded and posted on my fb page? for instance the url below is the image from my facebook page that I want to track how many people like this picture through my website,
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150115644909972&set=a.10150115644754972.329183.55239684971
I have read through the documentation on AddThis but it doesnt explain this at all!
http://www.addthis.com/help/client-api#configuration-sharing
It points me to this,
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like#
again, this is a Facebook plugin, no used within AddThis. If I am using the Like button from the Facebook API, then I cannot use the AddThis plugin above, can I?
furthermore, The Like button from Faebook API seems to work on the Facebook page, but not an individual picture or video I uploaded/ posted on my Facebook Page, for instance, I tried this on my localhost, the picture on my Facebook Page won't collect the number of likes even though I have clicked the Like button on my screen.
<script src="http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1"></script><fb:like href="http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150115644909972&set=a.10150115644754972.329183.55239684971" layout="button_count" font="arial"></fb:like>
so my main doubt on the Like button itself - does it work on facebook only or does it apply to the individual picture/ video on my facebook page? I tried to find this answer from the facebook Like documentation but it doesn't explain anything about this.
it would be grateful if you have any idea. thanks!
Try this:
...
<div class="addthis_toolbox addthis_default_style"
expr:addthis:title='Photo'
expr:addthis:url='http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150115644909972&set=a.10150115644754972.329183.55239684971'>
<a class="addthis_button_facebook_like" fb:like:layout="button_count"></a>
<a class="addthis_button_tweet"></a>
<a class="addthis_counter addthis_pill_style"></a><!---->
</div>
...

You might get an error with the add this way to display the Facebook Like Button and IIS7.0.
I had the problem yesterday and have posted a solution here.
Hope this helps,
