Crystal reports 2011 Math operations on running total fields - crystal-reports

Been trying to do this for hours, so would very much appreciate an answer. Google apparently hasn't heard this question before; in fact, I could find very little information on this subject anywhere, including in the Crystal reports help functions.
I have three running total fields in a Crystal Reports 2011 report. I need to add two of them together and then divide that sum by a third running total field.
Here is what I have in the formula field I have created in order to do this:
(Sum(rtotal1))+(Sum(rtotal2))/(Sum(rtotal3))
The error I continue to get is: The ) is missing
Can anyone tell me the correct syntax for how to do this (aggravatingly simple) operation?

So I'm not sure what your running totals are (sum, count, etc.), but you shouldn't have to specify sum in your formula. I did a quick mock-up with 3 running total fields, each one a sum of a value. the resulting formula looks like this:
({#RTotal0} + {#RTotal1})/{#RTotal2}
I'm not sure if the brackets are needed, but since you want to add RTotal0 and RTotal1 first and then divide that result by RTotal2, I advise to put them in.

Crystal Report - This field can't be summarized

I have a formula ABC
sum({Table1.col1},{Table2.FieldName})
My report is grouped by Table2.FieldName.
Then then want to add the value of ABC to another column's value.
My formula :
sum({#ABC},{Table2.Col1})
Here, I am getting this error that #ABC cant be summarized.
Is their any workaround to add these fields.
Crystal can't total other totals.
If you explain the situation in more details, there may be another way to accumulate the desired total.
Alternatively, Ken Hamady maintains a list of 3rd-party Crystal Reports UFLs (User Function Libraries) here. At least one of them allows you to do totals of totals by providing functions that allow Crystal formulas to accumulate and retrieve total values in memory.

Repeating a crosstab element with different parameters

I'm a new BIRT user, and I've been having trouble trying to get the behavior I want for my report. I've created a vertically-oriented crosstab with row groupings on month + year. However, each grouping has completely different columns and this ends up with a lot of empty space. It looks like this:
Note all that empty space. It makes the report end up being huge, horizontally. I'd like it to be closer to something like this (quick mock-up):
Right now, the report is generated based on start and end date report parameters, and it looks fine with just one month. I was thinking I could have the crosstab in its entirety be repeated, each one with its own single-month time period, but I cannot find any way to do this. Would that be the correct way of doing this? Is there a better way?
I figured out how to do it. I made the crosstab a sub-report of a scripted dataset of time periods, and then filtered the crosstab on those time periods. Feels sort of hacky and I gotta think there's a better way of doing it, but at least I've got what I wanted.

Crystal Report: Get Minimum Date

I have this concern using Crystal Report which I am not really familiar with. Here's my scenario:
I have an existing report to update, I need to add a column (ETA) which has a datetime value. It may return more than one rows per Item No, I need to get the minimum date only per Item No from the result rows.
I already tried some solution mentioned here http://scn.sap.com/thread/1952829 but found no luck.
I used a suppression formula for the Details section of the report, but haven't succeeded yet.
IF {TableName.DateField} = Minimum({TableName.DateField}) THEN FALSE ELSE TRUE
Any possible things you can suggest me to try? Thanks in advance for this :)
good to get this value from sqlserver side. you just create a function which return a single data (minimum date).
If you wish in crystal report side, it is something you make loop of hundred for a single row display. You can use running total field for this.
Select the field , select summary type and put into the detail section.
or you can create a formula with group name option like
Minimum({TableName.DateField})

Crystal Reports Record Selection and Summary Field conflict

I am really new to Crystal Reports and I am looking for any suggestions on how to approach the following issue:
I currently have a report that uses a record selection to limit the results by date. I would like to include in this same report a summary a total count of all the records (ignoring the record restriction). Unfortunately (although somewhat expected), the summary calculates the total after the record restriction is applied. Is there any way to get around this? In case my question is a bit unclear I've included a generic example below:
I have a report that pulls info from a database with a total of 10 records.
I select a specific date range, and it only returns 3 records
I would like to include in the report footer that 3/10 records are getting returned.
This is bit tricky to perform in crystal reports as record selection is compulsory applied. However you can overcome this by using sub report.
Calculate the report footer using report.
This will surely work

iReport query results break-down by week or day

I have used iReport to create a simple JasperReport which I run on a JasperServer. It queries some fields from a number of MySQL tables based on their creation timestamp. I am providing the start and end timestamps of the period to cover in the report as parameters of type java.sql.Timestamp. This works fine.
I was asked to introduce the ability to show a break-down on weeks or days of the report data. I would like to get some ideas on where to start with this. At this point I don't think I can accommodate this 'break-down' in the report query, since this feature seems beyond what SQL is designed to do. I know this sounds like an OLAP drill through, but I would like to avoid OLAP if possible (steep learning curve, tight deadlines).
My first thought was to create a subreport for each week or day . But this would leave me with an arbitrary number of subreports (depending on the overall time period covered by the report, which varies at each execution), and as far as I can tell iReport does not support this.
Here is one way to break the report down.
Create another parameter, groupby, which holds the a value that designates the grouping requirement. The values can be numeric, string or whatever else as long as it corresponds to day, week, month, etc.. grouping available.
Create a report group, breakdown, which will provide the breakdown. The group expression will depend on the groupby parameter. The expression is the date on the record except any detail finer than groupby value will be trimmed.
Create a variable, total, that will sum the data in the records. The variable should be reset on breakdown group and can be printed in the breakdown trailer band.
Make sure the sql queries sortby the date so that the groupby expression works.
