The piece of code for a firefox pagemod here doesn't work on every facebook page:
var pageMod = require("sdk/page-mod");
pageMod.PageMod({
include: /.*facebook.*/ ,
contentScript: "window.alert('Page matches ruleset');",
contentScriptWhen: 'end'
});
I s there any misinterpretation I have about the include part?
I have also tried "*fecebook.com" and still sometimes I don't get the alert command executed
Example:
for example for both the above solutions when i manually use the address bar to go to fecebook.com it works but when I use fecebook's home button which again goes to facebook.com it doesn't work
It doesn't hurt to be as precise as you can be with the regular expression you use:
var pageMod = require("sdk/page-mod");
pageMod.PageMod({
include: /^http[s]*\:\/\/.*facebook.com\/.*/,
contentScript: "window.alert('Page matches ruleset');",
contentScriptWhen: 'end'
});
The other factor I noticed when testing this on Facebook.com is that a lot of the time a change in the page url does not necessarily mean the page is being completely reloaded. The contentscript code in your example will only file when the page is initially loaded. If you want to react to changes in the url regardless of page loads, you might need to monitor the html5 history api in your content script and then react to those changes as well.

I'm working on my first app in PhalconPHP so I'm deep in the documentation while working, but this doesn't seem to be covered.
Let's say that my app is running on www.myapp.tld. In some situations I need to redirect the user back to the home page and for that I'm using the following code:
if ($haveToRedirect) {
$this->response->redirect();
$this->view->disable();
return;
}
Instead if redirecting to www.myapp.tld, the user is redirected to www.myapp.tld/index. I've tried different redirect calls, but all give the same result:
$this->response->redirect('');
$this->response->redirect('/');
$this->response->redirect('/', TRUE);
In the app's bootstrap I've set the BaseUri to be '/':
$di->set('url', function() {
$url = new Phalcon\Mvc\Url();
$url->setBaseUri('/');
return $url;
});
Is there a way to avoid "index" being added and just have it redirect to "www.myapp.tld"?
If a file is not specified, you will be directed to the index page in that directory by default. You need to specify a file location. Also try URI, not URL
The cause of redirection to "/index" was actually in the Permission class I made several weeks ago. It had:
$this->response->redirect('index');
for every controller that guest could not access to. Since I added new controllers I was continuously redirected to index, and noticed that redirect comes from somewhere else when I removed the conditional redirects I've put in the controller.
Anyway, this is it. Lesson learned - next time grep for 'index' before asking for help. :)
I am creating an addon for blocking sites on user request.I have done- getting user input and storing in simple-storage.Now i want to access the url of the tab(s) before the page gets loaded so that i can process the url and gets it hostname to block the site.
You do this using the PageMod module with onAttach.
pageMod.PageMod({
contentScriptWhen: 'start', //This says not to wait until the page is ready
include: ['*'],
//Forget about contentScript(File), we're not attaching a script
onAttach: function(worker) {
var tabUrl = worker.tab.url;
if(tabUrl==myString) worker.tab.url = 'http://arabcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/block-website.jpeg'
}
});
But I recommend doing it differently. Instead of checking every URL yourself then doing something , you create an array of URLs or partial URLs and set include: myArrayOfUrls. Then you don't need the if clause in onAttach, you already know that it's one of the websites you want to block.
You can register to the http-on-modify-request notification from the Observer Service. You'll get notified just before the request is made and you can get the URL.
See the following resources on the topic:
Setting HTTP request headers for registration example and Observer Notifications for the list of notifications you can register to.
What you describe is essentially what the Adblock Plus extension is doing, maybe you could use it directly or look into its code.
I have a jquery mobile site that I want to share via facebook's dialog/feed system.
jQuery mobile uses #'s for their internal navigation system, so if I want to share a jqm url for page_3 of my jqm site, I would use something like: http://www.my_jqm_site.com/#page_3.
But that # is causing grief for facebook's dialog/feed:
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/feed
?app_id = ...
&link = http://apps.facebook.com/celjska_puzzle/#page_3
&redirect_uri = http://apps.facebook.com/celjska_puzzle/#page_3
&picture = ...
&name = .
&caption = ...
&description = ...
So is their anyway to do it?
I have tried it both with and without encoding.
Currently I suppose I will use a ? and then get the page to make some alterations via javascript during loading, but I really hate the thought of doing it this way.
I'm working on a problem like this right now. The URL to go in redirect_uri and link:
.../xfile.jsp?item=/contests/bhg_homeimprovement/bhg_splashsweeps_win2500_homeimprovement&temp=yes&hid=#HashID#&esrc=nwbhgsweeps072514a
The FB dialog gets an error as is. Encoding the full URL fixes that and does output hashes around "HashID", but the equal sign before it is removed. Adding a 2nd equal sign there will output 2 equal signs, but having just one will output none.
This isn't a complete solution but it does look like hash marks are possible.
i am using GWT app engine to deploy my application in local host.
i want to redirect to second page when user completed his registration & clicked "submit" button, the browser has to redirect to automatically to his Profile page with his registration details.
i used fallowing code to redirect to second page from first page;
String url = GWT.getHostPageBaseURL()+"/UserViewProfile.html";
Window.Location.replace(url);
in my case the first page is URL is like:
http://127.0.0.1:8888/UserRegistration.html?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997
when i submitted on "Submit" button it is edirecting to URL like:
http://127.0.0.1:8888/UserViewProfile.html
In second page(UserViewProfile.html) i developed simple HTML content & simple Textbox widget to check it's functionality. But i am seeing HTML content only but not "Textbox".
To see text box i has to type URL like:
http://127.0.0.1:8888/UserViewProfile.html?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997
how i can access last part "?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997" at end of my URL pattern automatically? if i add it manually, at the time of hosting it may leads to problem. please if any body give solution, that would be great.
I do not understand the use case. Anyway I guess you need to conditionally check if you are in DevMode or ProdMode, and add the gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997 query string accordingly. Something like:
String url = GWT.getHostPageBaseURL()+ "/UserViewProfile.html";
if (GWT.isProdMode()) {
Window.Location.replace(url);
} else {
Window.Location.replace(url + "?gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997");
}
The gwt.codesvr=127.0.0.1:9997 query string parameter is used by GWT to (simplifying) bootstrap your app in the so called Development Mode, instead of the Production Mode (the actual compiled version of your application). Without this check, if you are in DevMode, you end up requesting the UserViewProfile.html that looks for the compiled version of your app (that does not show anything, if you've never compiled it, or if you have simply recently clean the project).
Do also note that URL rewriting (by not simply changing the # fragment identifier), means application reloading.
I'm trying to write a Greasemonkey script for Facebook and having some trouble with the funky page/content loading that they do (I don't quite understand this - a lot of the links are actually just changing the GET, but I think they do some kind of server redirect to make the URL look the same to the browser too?). Essentially the only test required is putting a GM_log() on its own in the script. If you click around Facebook, even with facebook.com/* as the pattern, it is often not executed. Is there anything I can do, or is the idea of a "page load" fixed in Greasemonkey, and FB is "tricking" it into not running by using a single URL?
If I try to do some basic content manipulation like this:
GM.log("starting");
var GM_FB=new Object;
GM_FB.birthdays = document.evaluate("//div[#class='UIUpcoming_Item']", document, null, XPathResult.UNORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null);
for (i = GM_FB.birthdays.snapshotLength - 1; i >= 0; i--) {
if (GM_FB.birthdayRegex.test(GM_FB.birthdays.snapshotItem(i).innerHTML)) {
GM_FB.birthdays.snapshotItem(i).setAttribute('style','font-weight: bold; background: #fffe88');
}
}
The result is that sometimes only a manual page refresh will make it work. Pulling up the Firebug console and forcing the code to run works fine. Note that this isn't due to late loading of certain parts of the DOM: I have adding some code later to wait for the relevant elements and, crucially, the message never gets logged for certain transitions. For example, when I switch from Messages to News Feed and back.
Aren't they using ajax to load content in a div? You can find the element which is being updated by using Firebug for example.
When you click something and the URL changes, but with a # on the URL and after this some text, it means the text is not a path, it's a parameter, the browser won't change the page you are, so since GreaseMonkey inject the script on the page loads it won't inject again, because the page is not reloading.
As in your example the URL facebook.com/#!/sk=messages is not navigating away from facebook.com/ it will not fire window.load event.
So you need to find which element is being changed and add an event listener to that element, you can do is using Firebug as I mentioned before.
After you find out what element is getting the content, you have to add an event listener to that element and not the page (GreaseMonkey adds only on the window load event).
So in you GM script you would have ("air code")
document.getElement('dynamic_div').addEvent('load', /*your script*/);
