I have a Kepler (4.3?) version of Eclipse and I tried several versions of fullscreen plugins. They all hide menu bar and windows 7 ribbon, but neither hides status bar (where it shows cursor position i.e. 75:14)
I have an old ThinkPad 1280x800 and I need that vertical space desperately.
I have tried:
>"gr.scharf.fullscreen"
>"org.ugosan.eclipse.fullscreen_1.0.8"
>"cn.pande.eclipsex.fullscreen_1.0.7"
They all fail to hide status bar. Help! Do I need older/other version of Eclipse?
Thanks,
Ignas

Just downloaded VSCode, ver 1.28 and the activity bar (left side) and the left side of the side bar are not there. This happened yesterday too, so uninstalled the program and tried again today.
I have no way to get to settings, debug, search, etc. Tried right clicking on black space and they don't show up, merely options to open a new file. If I do open (untitled) I still do not get that left part of the screen. I am comparing it to MS's user interface page (https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/getstarted/userinterface). Is it possible that I would have to change the resolution on my laptop?
Thanks.
From the menu bar at the top try
View/Apperance/Show Activity Bar
When the Activity Bar is visible, this option will show "Hide Activity Bar"
See screenshot
1.Simple go to the setting
2.Under the user settings search for Activity Bar.
3.You'd find it under the workbench.
4. Click the Activity bar visible and that's green and working.
Another way to loose Activity Bar is to accidently active Zen Mode. Check if
View/Apperance/Zen Mode
is checked and if so uncheck it.
You can also pull up the command pallet with
Ctrl + Shift + P
Then type/select
View: Toggle Activity Bar Visibility
I am currently setting up my MATLAB programming environment in windows. I am trying to remove the title bar at the very top of the screen while editing code. It is similar to the "Enter Full Screen" feature in IntellijIDEA based editors. I am well aware that this is possible MacOSX but did not find any feature supported in Windows. Thank you in advance for your help.
Matlab does not have a true full-screen option on Windows, but take a look at this help page: Optimize Desktop Layout for Limited Screen Space.
Title bars can be hidden by going to the Home tab > Environment section > Layout. Under Show, you can select or deselect "Panel Titles".
You can also hide the toolstrip by clicking the arrow in the upper right corner.
There appears to be no way to hide the Windows title bar and tabs at the very top, but combining these options should get you pretty close to the "full-screen" look you describe.
Can anyone tell me what the windowitems in the Eclipse views encircled in red in the screenshot below are called? And more importantly, how to disable the use of them and just show the toolbar buttons of the view. In older versions of Eclipse the toolbar would just be shown instead of this tiny button to unhide the toolbar.

How can I hide the status bar in Eclipse? I mean the one at the bottom, where also the "Progress" status is shown. It is very distracting because it is doing something all the time.
I took a look at this question, but the answer given there and on Superuser does not show how to hide it. I also did not find anything in the preferences. I am using Eclipse 3.7.2.
How can I hide the status bar, or at least, get rid of the "Progress" bar at the bottom?
With CSS in Eclipse Juno there are endless possibilities to style Eclipse the way you like: edit the eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.platform_4.2.2.v201302041200/css/e4_default_mac.css (adapt it to your Eclipse version and operating system).
There, add the following lines:
#org-eclipse-ui-trim-status,
#org-eclipse-ui-trim-vertical1,
#org-eclipse-ui-trim-vertical2 {
visibility: hidden;
}
Now, not only the status bar but also the bars on the left and right are hidden. Before doing that, you might open the views you like to have and bring them to your preferred positions and assign a shortcut to them so that they will pop up whenever (and only when) you need them. Of course, you can undo that change any time.
Eclipse Oxygen (4.7)
Approach 1
Go to Quick Access (or press Ctrl + 3)
Type "status bar"
Choose Toggle Statusbar - Toggle the visibility of the bottom status bar
Approach 2
Window > Appearance > Hide Status Bar
This feature is described here.
With the new release of Eclipse, you can use the menu to hide the status bar.

What do you call the bar across the top of eclipse IDE with the run and debug buttons on it?
how can I get rid of it and recover just that much more screen space?
Which verison of eclipse?
