Is Moodle PENS Compliant? - moodle

I have been trying to find the answer to this but it doesn't seem to be anywhere. Does anyone know if Moodle is PENS compliant?

As far as I can tell, Moodle is not Package Exchange Notification Services (PENS) compliant.
The specification does not appear to be too hairy, but i have not found any indication that anyone has tried to implement it for Moodle.
Some alternatives you could consider:
A 3rd party content, such as SCORM Cloud (commercial service)
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI), which is a set of protocols which appear to be similar to PENS, i.e. you designate your LMS as a provider or consumer, and content can be shared. Moodle has consumer support built in. Acting as a provider can be achieved using a plugin.

Is there any tool to automatically create wiki-like REST API documentation from JSON or Open API?

I have several services, each one exposed through REST API with ASP.NET Core Web API. I use Swashbuckle for ASP.NET Core tooling in order to automatically generate from my controllers and DTOs all the necessary documentation and visualize it in SwaggerUI. I found this tooling really great, with little annotations on my models and my controllers already provides many features out of the box, such as a UI client to try out the REST API endpoints.
But with this solution each service has its own dedicated SwaggerUI instance and therefore UI.
I would like to offer to my customers a wiki-like documentation with a navigation menu, where, for instance, they can browse sections regarding all the endpoints exposed by my services and have on each page the same features offered by SwaggerUI.
It can be achieved by creating my own web application but I was wondering whether an out of the box solution or some tool that might ease such integration already exists.
I tried Slate but I felt like I had to re-invent the wheel in order to automate at least the creation of the basic API documentation, namely controller definition, response definition and descriptions. Does anyone have any suggestion?
I faced this very issue recently working in a microservices architecture, you're absolutely right. There is not need to reinvent the wheel.
I really can't recommend redoc by Redocly enough in this case.
Have a look at the multiple-apis example.

Which is the difference between these google KMS client packages? (CloudKMS vs KeyManagementServiceClient)

I have a java codebase that seems to be using "com.google.api.services.cloudkms.v1.CloudKMS" to call KMS. The online docs says to use "com.google.cloud.kms.v1.KeyManagementServiceClient"
When i looked up both packages seem to be updated, however the reference docs recommend using the latter.
https://developers.google.com/resources/api-libraries/documentation/cloudkms/v1/java/latest/com/google/api/services/cloudkms/v1/CloudKMS.html
https://cloud.google.com/kms/docs/reference/libraries
Could someone tell me what is the difference between these 2 clients packages and if i should move to the one the reference links to?
In general, you should prefer the library referenced on the Reference Libraries page, currently com.google.cloud.kms. The examples and tutorials on the website will use this client library.
Probably more history than you need to know, but we have two client libraries because they run over different protocols. The new libraries (the one's listed on the reference page) use gRPC to communicate. This means less bandwidth and less time spent serializing/de-serializing JSON. On the flip side, gRPC requires HTTP/2, and some organizations can't/won't support HTTP/2 yet. As a result, we still publish and maintain legacy libraries that are REST over HTTP/1. It is strongly recommended you use the gRPC ones unless you can't use HTTP/2.
You can read more about the background and technical details in Kickstart your cryptography with new Cloud KMS client libraries and samples.

XMPP chat infrastructure recommendations

There is a chat project I plan to develop and currently stuck while deciding, which XMPP server and client to use.
Front-end will be implemented using Ionic 3+ framework (fixed requirement).
Main features:
private chat capability (1 on 1)
group chat capability (and ability to add users to existing chat)
online status visibility
offline message delivery (online user sends a message to offline user, and the offline user gets it after going online, etc)
full-time server-side chat history storage
I need to select:
a client library which is convenient to implement with Ionic 3+
a server which enables all the above requirements
Also, the chat messages should cross the network with at least some kind of encryption.
Currently, I have been playing with these server options:
eJabberd - most people recommend this option, but for me, a person, who is newbie at XMPP stuff, it looks like there will be quite a lot of hassle with configuration
openFire - easy to setup and use, but it uses Java VM, and some people argue, that it has problems with performance and memory management.
I also stumbled upon AstraChat - a commercial product, that looks similar to what I need - however, with fixed implementation of it's own public apps - no way to use it's code base.
As of front-end - I have only tried running the Ionic 1 tutorial locally using Strophe.js as the client in the front-end. Since I am developing the app with Ionic 3+ (TypeSript), it would be awesome to use some newer and TS compatible library - however, it is just a wish, not a requirement. :)
Maybe there are some better and more convenient non-XMPP implementations for this concept. Any thoughts are welcome!
eJabbered is very complex decision for your application.
openFire is also very complex and requires JVM
For your apllication I advise Prosody. It is simple and lightweight desicion.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_XMPP_server_software
But please think twice about using chat on XMPP protocol. This protocol is very difficult to learn and it has a variety of extensions(e. g. XEP) and you will be confused about documentation.

but documentation is obsolete.

How to use alfresco java API to submit form values

I have developed one spring based java web application. In my project it is requirement to use alfresco as a CMS. For this I want to integrate this application with alfresco. So I decided to use alfresco java API's.
http://dev.alfresco.com/resource/docs/java/
But I am not getting how to use those API's to complete backend work of my web application. Suppose I would like to submit one form having user name & password fields in it. After click on submit button how can I handle request in backend so it will use Alfresco java API to process request and store details in database.
I have to do many operations in my project like upload file, play with documents, Submit different forms. view those forms etc.
My first question is am I going in right direction by using alfresco java API's. if yes then how can use those API? is there any other way to do this?
Any help would be appreciate!!!
Thanks in Advance,
Kailas Salunke.
Well, based on my experience, Alfresco is an excellent ECM but not suitable for being a CMS.
Apart from that, it is difficult to give suggestions, starting from the very general overview you have given, but things like user name and password have little to do with an ECM and storing of data in a database.
You have two options available.
One involve using the Web Content Management Quick Start, it's a Spring Surf app you can (not easily in my opinion) customize for your needs.
The other solutions, if you have an existing web app, rather than develop your own API have a look at CMIS, I have put a simple wikipedia explanation, you can dig further from there.
Then, when you are ready, have a look at Alfresco CMIS first, and the most used Java API for doing CMIS call, which is Apache Chemistry
CMIS, in its intent, guarantee that Alfresco could be replaced with any other CMIS compliant ECM. You can easily integrate Apache Chemistry in your Spring app.

Easiest way to interface between a web app and SAP

Greetings!
I've spent some time researching how to communicate with SAP from a PHP web application, but the documentation is more than spare. The ways I found are:
Creating IDoc files, some sort of proprietary plain-text format. But how do I stick them in SAP when they are created on the webserver?
Coding a Windows Application using the SAP BAPI. This way, you have full control and access - but also a lot of pain.
Accessing the RFC (Remote Function Calls), preferrably via SOAP. This would be the best way to connect to a web app.
What I could not find out is: what is the easiest way to connect? Which versions of SAP support SOAP? Anything I've missed?
Thanks for your help!
How you connect to SAP is dependent on what version of SAP, your SAP license and what you're connecting with and what you are trying to do.
If you are trying to access SAP standard functionality - i.e. Read or Update a SAP Service Order, the standard BAPI should allow you to do what you need. (Note that a BAPI is just an RFC with a standard API, which is released for customer use by SAP).
There are various connectors to SAP, but for newer releases of SAP (2004s and later) many RFC function modules are exposed as webservices, which should be ideal for your purposes.
You may have to ask an ABAP developer (or even a non-developer with SAP experience) to help you find which RFC's are available and whether they are exposed as webservices. (If not an ABAP developer should be able to wrap BAPI as a webservice with a simplified interface).
If you are trying to do something that SAP have not provided prior functionality for, or perhaps access custom developed objects you will definitely need the assistance of an ABAP developer to exposes an RFC to you.
Depending on your system setup there may be some system administration tasks to be done in order to allow you to access the SAP system. Whether by RFC or otherwise. (Useful transactions to search for are SICF and SOAMANAGER). The SAP Basis administrator may also need to set up some RFC connections for you.
If your company uses SAP PI/XI or a non-SAP integration engine, it may be easier to connect but that would be in very limited cases.
I've used IDOCs before for single message transfer, but I'm not sure that it would have any advantage over BAPI's or webservices for any Business Type transactions. Although IDOCs have been around for a while and may be quite stable if standard ones exist.
I have to admit that I've only scratched the surface around connecting to SAP, but I hope this is useful.
The third option is the easiest.
Accessing the RFC (Remote Function
Calls), preferrably via SOAP.
