although the calling the server URL, e.g. http://somehost:8080/jasperserver/services/repository works in the browser stating:
repository
Hi there, this is an AXIS service!
Perhaps there will be a form for invoking the service here...
Using JasperServer 5.2.0 and JasperStudio 5.5.0.

This may likely be due to some local HTTP proxy setup problem.
To solve this you can try the following:
Window->Preferences->General->Network Connections->
Provider: Manual (where Eclipse proxy settings are applied)
(adjust proxy rules as desired) (try including/excluding rules matching your jasper server host)
restart Eclipse (important!)
I found this solution a little hidden here: Jasper forum question 3143 comment 16.

Issue with MyEclipse Proxy Connection

I am unable to get MyEclipse to connect to the marketplace. I am aware of the proxy setup. These are the steps I followed within a proxy environment and within a direct environment.
A. Within the Company Network. (browers use automatic configuration script)
Chose Native option. Does not work.
Chose Manual option. Set the domain, username. Opened the proxy script to figure out available proxy servers. Verified independently that these proxy servers work. Does not work.
Modified the vmargs to provide the http host, user, password and port properties. Does not work.
Did steps 1-3 with restarts of Eclipse.
B. Within home environment. (Direct connection to internet)
Tried Direct Option. Does not work.
Tried Native Option. Does not work.
The error message that I constantly see (through error logs) is this.

Is there any alternative or any other step that I can take to resolve this problem. I know I can go through the manual update by downloading the plugin and all. But I really want to solve this issue.
MyEclipse Version Information:
MyEclipse Blue Edition
Version: 10.7.1 Blue
Build id: 10.7.1-Blue-20130201
Apparently it could be a bug.
I just read this whole bug report here.
I tried adding the VM arguments to ensure the the HTTPClient workaround can be achieved via a configuration change. Did not work.
However, I was able to remove the http client libraries from the plugins folder, courtesy Comment #27 and #29 on the bug report.
Now I'm able to connect over proxy and direct as well.

I'm using daemon.pl with the root user. Tried server.pl. but, the same error occurred.
Thanks for advance.
I just came across the same problem and it was solved after adding my server name to the /etc/hosts file with loopback IP.

JAX-WS client causes Jetty EofException

I am using an embedded Jetty server to provide Web Services (using Jetty-JAXWS2-SPI to allow Jetty to serve the requests) and I am seeing the following errors when a connection terminates from my JAX-WS test client (generated by wsimport):
11:32:54.544 [pool-1-thread-5] DEBUG com.mycompany.SomeClass - EOF

Even though these are not important errors (logged at DEBUG level) and I only see them from my test client, not from soapUI or the 'real' (.NET client), I would rather not see them at all.
I guess the problem is caused by the socket behavior within the JAX-WS client? Is there any way to influence the socket behavior to avoid this issue?
Other information:
Others have reported this issue on the Jetty mailing list, also when providing Web Services using Jetty-JAXWS2-SPI.
I am using JDK 1.6.0_24 and the JAX-WS implementation it contains.
I am using Jetty 7.3.1-20110307
