I am trying to share image from FB app, using send dialog like I am doing for past few years.
var obj = {
method: 'feed',
link: 'https://www.facebook.com/pages/TESTPAGE?sk=app_XXXXXXXXXXXXXX&app_data=share|10',
caption: '',
name: 'Title for share',
description: 'description fort share',
picture: IMG_URL
};
I have provide 2 screenshots
when I click on share button inside of app
what I keep getting on my profile wall.
Until few months ago, FB would show data from feed method, but now, feed is acting just like share method: it shares url, without image and labels I sent through feed dialog.
All I want is to share image from app, and url of that image should point to app url.
Any suggestions?
I came across this issue from yesterday. The issue only happens when you pass in the FB app link url to the Link option. The works fine with the images as long as the link url is not anything related to FB.
So the workaround I found was to get a shortened URL from google and passed it instead of the normal app link.
FB.ui({
name: 'temp',
method: 'feed',
picture: '',
link: '{shortened url}',
caption: 'temp',
description: 'temp',
redirect_uri: 'any url'
}, function(response){
});
You can try this code to share image from FB app:
FB.ui(
{
method: 'feed',
display: 'popup', // must be one of "popup", "dialog", "iframe", "touch", "async", "hidden", or "none"
name: 'Title for share',
description: 'Description for share',
caption: 'www.facebook.com/YourFbPage/app_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx',
link: 'http://PathToYourDomain.com/Folder/',
picture: 'http://PathToYourDomain.com/Folder/img/img-1200x627.jpg',
},function(response) {
if (response && response.post_id) {
// alert('Post was published.');
} else {
// alert('Post was not published.');
}
}
);
Best and good luck!
FB.ui({
method: 'share_open_graph',
action_type: 'og.shares',
action_properties: JSON.stringify({
object : {
'og:url': str_href,
'og:title': 'title', //galleryItem.title,
'og:description': 'desc', //galleryItem.description,
'og:og:image:width': '2560',
'og:image:height': '960',
'og:image': str_picture //BASE_URL + '/images/works/galleries'
}
})
});
I have read that the Facebook sharer is deprecated, So I wanted to know how can I create a share button in my widget that will work from any domain (not just the app domain), via the js SDK (Preferably).
For example:
I have my app registered on myserver.com
And someone downloaded my widget on hisservers.com, I want the share to work from there and post to his wall.
How can I do so?
You can use the FB.ui Feed dialog to prompt the user to publish a story on their feed, and specify your link in the function. Like so
function postLink() {
var obj = {
method: 'feed',
link: 'http://myserver.com',
picture: 'a_picture',
name: 'My Server',
description: 'Sharing MyServer from HisServer.'
};
function callback(response) {
console.log(response['post_id']);
}
FB.ui(obj, callback);
}
Of course you'll have to also include the proper initialization for the JS SDK.
function postLink() {
var obj = {
method: 'feed',
link: 'http://myserver.com',
picture: 'a_picture',
name: 'My Server',
description: 'Sharing MyServer from HisServer.'
};
function callback(response) {
console.log(response['post_id']);
}
FB.ui(obj, callback);
}
I'm trying to make my facebook application autopost to a wall after they have accepted the permissions, ived tryied alot of things but i just cant get it working.
This is one of the things ived tryid:
FB.ui(
{
method: 'feed',
to: friendId,
name: 'title',
link: 'http://host.com/title_link.com',
picture: 'http://host.com/image.jpg',
description: 'description',
caption: 'caption',
},
function(response) {
// Check for a posting to wall
if (response && response.post_id) {
// do some logging
}
}
});
Is there anyone that got a sample code :)?
Maybe, your example is not working because there is one comma too much after
caption: 'caption'
.
Help please! I'm creating a Facebook tab/app on facebook for a contest, part of the contest is to have a user have the option to share the contest on their wall. This is the error I'm receiving -
API Error Code: 191
API Error Description: The specified URL is not owned by the application
Error Message: redirect_uri is not owned by the application.
This is my facebook auth code:
<div id='fb-root'></div>
<script>
FB.init( {

xfbml : true
}
);
window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
FB.Canvas.setAutoResize();
}
</script>
<script src='http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js'></script>
This is my FB.ui Code:
<script>
function showStreamPublish() {
FB.ui(
{
method: 'feed',
name: 'I signed up to win an iPad 2 from Upillar.com',
link: 'http://www.facebook.com/pages/udev/121216321302968?sk=app_219691398094935',
picture: 'http://static.upillar.com/fb/images/logo.png',

app_id: '219691398094935'
},
function(response) {
if (response && response.post_id) {
$('#main-screen').css('display','none');
$('#step2').css('display','block');
}else{
$('#main-screen').css('display','none');
$('#step2').css('display','block');
}
});}
</script>
This is the information in my app:
Site/App Domain: upillar.com
Site URL: http://fb.upillar.com/contest.php
Page Tab URL: http://fb.upillar.com/contest.php
Secure Tab URL: https://fb.upillar.com/contest.php
Please tell me what am I missing! Thank you so much.
Got same problem - solution is simple, but not even mentioned by Facebook Dev DOCS. Take a look at this:
FB.ui(
{
method: 'feed',
redirect_uri: 'http://www.yourdomain.com', // that caused the problem
message: 'getting educated about Facebook Connect',
name: 'Connect',
caption: 'The Facebook Connect JavaScript SDK',
description: (
'A small JavaScript library that allows you to harness ' +
'the power of Facebook, bringing the user\'s identity, ' +
'social graph and distribution power to your site.'
),
link: 'http://www.yourdomain.com',
picture: 'http://www.yourdomain.com/f8.jpg',
actions: [{
name: 'yourdomain',
link: 'http://www.yourdomain.com'
}],
user_message_prompt: 'Share your thoughts about RELL'
},
function (response) {
if (response && response.post_id) {
alert('Post was published.');
} else {
alert('Post was not published.');
}
}
);
site URL should not be a file, try to set this as your domain only, without contest.php
if that does not work, set the canvas URL as your domain, with "/" at the end too.
Sorry to bump an old post, first I should say i'm relatively new to facebook development but i've been getting the same problem, basically it seems like facebook does some fairly nifty detection in terms of what qualifies as a redirect when you land on your page.
For example I was detecting if it was a new user and then displaying a colorbox, whose onclick event redirected to a newuser creation form. That gave me error 191 redirect_uri not owned. It seems because the javascript was in the <HEAD> element it qualified as a redirect.
I simply changed the login process to fully render the main page and display a normal div telling them to click here to login.
Sorry for grave-digging!
I just had the same problem and found the solution. You do not have to change anything on your sources.
Just head over to http://developers.facebook.com open your app and navigate to "Settings" and "Basic".
There is a textfield that says "App Domains" - enter the domain name where the app is currently hosted at there, save the settings and you are done.
I am working on a Facebook IFrame app and using FB.ui to display the permissions request dialog using the JS SDK.
Here is the code I`m using:
FB.ui(
{
method: 'stream.publish',
message: '',
attachment: {
name: 'תחרות התחפושות הגדולה של לגדול',
caption: '',
media: [{ 'type': 'image', 'src': 'http://www.p-art.co.il/ligdol_purim/logo.gif', 'href': 'http://apps.facebook.com/ligdolpurim/', 'width': '101', 'height': '84'}],
description: ('פורים 2011'),
href: 'http://apps.facebook.com/ligdolpurim/'
},
action_links: [
{ text: 'Ligdol Purim', href: 'http://apps.facebook.com/ligdolpurim/' }
],
user_prompt_message: 'פרסם את השתתפותך בתחרות'
},
function(response) {
alert(response.post_id);
});
}
A happy surprise is that the SDK knows to show the dialog only for the missing permissions (if any). The problem is that a new IE window pops up and then disappears before the dialog is shown inside an iframe.
I have tried several variations on this code I found all over the net and all of them give me this popup before showing the dialog.
I had not considered that in order to open a facebook lightbox, you actualy need to be on facebook. I was testing my IFrame outside facebook. When I began testing the app inside a page tab, I got the lightbox. Ya learn something new everyday.
