Sharing facebook photo (really a facebook photo) using mobile web app & Feed Dialog.
The problem: Cannot send facebook's photo to the Feed Dialog.
All code works great. I get all properties as they sent to the function.
FB.ui
method: "feed"
link: 'url'
app_id: myAppID
name: 'photo's name'
description: ''
caption: $('#albumName').text()
picture: 'http://myUrl.com/logo.png'
, (response) ->
if response and response.post_id
console.log 'Photo was shared'
else
console.log 'Photo was not shared. Please try again'
If I place a static photo, to represent the Picture parameter, all goes fine, But if I try to call a facebook picture I try to share, then I get a 500 server error.
GET
https://www.facebook.com/dialog/feed?access_token=...662390597_s.jpg&sdk=joey
500 (OK)
This is totally bizarre. The URL that goes to the dialog iframe, goes with all the needed parameters, including access_token.
It seems like a design issue. Like someone in facebook don't want us to pretend to be facebook when we customly share things using their feed dialog, when we share facebook photos.
Am I right?

!!! Problem Solved !!!
Facebook don't accept their own CDN as a source. We need to bypass that in order to share, therefore we can reshare a facebook the photo using a proxy.
http://images.weserv.nl does the job. Facebook accept the image as a picture param, and this way you are able to reshare their posts.
Usage example (plus width and hight to improve performance)
'https://images.weserv.nl/?url=' + facebookImageUrl + '&h=200&w=200'
I can't share facebook photo use this example
when i share with (fb.ui method feed) i get 404 error on this link

I use Facebook share button to share my article (Title, description and image) on Facebook using Open Graph Meta and other default Meta
And my articles are echoed in post.php page like (mywebsite.com/post.php?id=post_id) which contents differ through post_id.
Well, while sharing a post on fb, facing some problems.
1: fb share doesn't detect the image belonging to the article/current post that is shared. (Thought the image URL in my Open Graph Meta is correct) and after sharing it on Facebook the link doesn’t redirect to the exact URL (mywebsite.com/post.php?id=post_id).
2: the fb share button is in my post.php page which shares different posts but sharing is counted same for all posts.
The FB share button has got an attribute (data-href="url-to-share") which my one is (data-href="<?php echo'post.php?id=post_id';?>").
Anyone know what and where is wrong with my code/URL addressing?
If your meta tags shows correct data then must be fb issue. I faced similar problem before.
Try debug your url in the FB debugger( https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/ ). It helps.
Fb haven't grab your updated data because they have their own time/interval to grab new data from the website(if im not mistaken). Using the debugger u'll see how the share will look like and show missing details if any.
I have a website with some dynamic urls (for example a page who show event details thanks to event id in get variable), but during the share with facebook, at the first attempt the thumbnail image doesn't appear due the page isn't already fetched by facebook.
Then I must go to the debugger https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/ and submit every pages to get a valid thumbnail to the users.
There's a script or a way to send multiple links to this debugger, or there's another way to achieve the indexing of new pages by facebook?
You can refresh the Open Graph tags with a POST request to the Graph API, i think it´s not in the Facebook docs (at least i could not find it) - but it definitely works:
$.post('https://graph.facebook.com', {
id: 'http://www.yourdomain.com/somefile.html',
scrape: true
}, function(response) {
console.log(response);
});
Just an example with jQuery, of course you can just use CURL on the server too.
Take a look at this fiddle: JsFiddle
As you can see I have put up the facebook like box with url http://facebook.com/ElizaDoolittle
The problem is that it doesnt work with all urls, try replacing the url with this url: http://www.facebook.com/fatme.safa.3?ref=fs
you will see an error notification. Why is that?? What makes the difference in url?
As you can see I have put up the facebook like box with url http://facebook.com/ElizaDoolittle
That is the address of a Facebook page for a musician.
The problem is that it doesnt work with all urls, try replacing the url with this url: http://www.facebook.com/fatme.safa.3?ref=fs
That is the address of a user profile.
you will see an error notification. Why is that?
Because only pages can be liked, user profiles can not be liked. And since, the Like box also does not work for user profiles.
Having some issues with the feed dialog when attempting to post to a event or fan page. In my application I am using the JS API and FB.ui using the method feed.
But for a demonstration you can do it using the feed url too for example:
http://www.facebook.com/dialog/feed?app_id=131727613511269&to=287203454659917&redirect_uri=http://www.timeanddate.com/
After clicking share you get the:
Sorry, something went wrong.
We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.
Where:
app_id = your app
to = a event / fan page
redirect_uri = a url you are allowed to redirect to
note that the app has publish_stream permissions. (it also has manage_pages for fan pages)
The app in question by the way is: http://apps.facebook.com/tndcountdown/
Thanks,
Andy
EDIT:
An Example taken straight from the documentation:
http://www.facebook.com/dialog/feed?app_id=123050457758183&link=http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/dialogs/&picture=http://fbrell.com/f8.jpg&name=Facebook%20Dialogs&caption=Reference%20Documentation&description=Using%20Dialogs%20to%20interact%20with%20users.&message=Facebook%20Dialogs%20are%20so%20easy!&redirect_uri=http://www.example.com/response&to=287203454659917
just replace to=287203454659917 with an event.. (make a test one like it did there)
A few issues I've run into will dialog is that Facebook tries to fill in any missing data. So if you don't provide a description and caption, Facebook will try to scrape the page to get that content. Depending on how the page responds to the "scraping" Facebook will error out. I always make sure I include at least a space for those fields.
It seems the feed url you provided is similar to what is in the documentation. But the demo in the documentation has extra parameters.
I'm about to add page support to my Facebook app, which does the same thing as yours.

As I posted here - Facebook Send Button - 'Sorry, something went wrong.'...
I had the same problem & worked out that this was due to linking to a Facebook page that did not have a vanity URL set up (i.e. http://www.facebook.com/CubicMushroom rather than http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=261963707177053). If you set up a vanity URL for the page it seems to work OK (providing you link to the vanity URL version of the page URL).
To claim a vanity URL, once you have a certain no of like (it used to be 25, but think it's a little lower now) visit https://www.facebook.com/username/
I am creating a facebook like to put on my site. This component will read all posts from a specific page`s wall and display them.
I want to get the required image post on my wall when any user like my page from my website.. I have multiple facebook likes on my page ..
My problem is that when a user like any of the like button it get any image from my page and post it my wall . But i want that it get the specific image and post to my wall..
i also tried to put og:image But no success :-(
Any suggestions please.
You haven't given enough code to diagnose your problems, but assuming that you've followed the open graph instructions on the Facebook Developers site - http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/ - It would be a good idea pass your target URL through the Facebook Debugger (formerly the URL Linter) it will help show you any errors you have regarding your open graph tagging implementation:
