How to use log4j in an EJB Module with WebLogic? - netbeans

I have included the log4j.jar in libraries;
added log4j.xml in the sources folder;
but I m getting an error:

I have also tried including classpath: .\lib\log4j....jar in the MANIFEST.MF
but still no positive response..
Kindly guide me how to resolve this???

Use Java Util Logging, which is included in the JEE spec. No additional jars have to be added.

Whether it's EJB Module or you are working on some other application with WebLogic Server;
it requires a configuration Process; you can go through the links given below:

How to find missing classes in a webapp running in JBoss EAP 7.4?

My webapp running on JBoss EAP 7.4 is having problems locating certain classes. When I run, I see the following in the log:
2022-08-02 14:30:52,387 WARN [org.jboss.modules.define] (default

Failed to link

org/apache/phoenix/compat/hbase/CompatSteppingSplitPolicy
MetaDataSplitPolicy and SplitOnLeadingVarCharColumnsPolicy are present in our war file, but CompatSteppingSplitPolicy is not. The /usr/lib/phoenix/phoenix-hbase-compat-2.4.1-5.1.2.jar file contains CompatSteppingSplitPolicy. Adding external modules directories in JBoss EAP 6/7 tells how the classpath be extended to deployed content reference directories and files external to the installation. I modified my .bashrc accordingly, and the log file now includes:
module.path = /opt/jboss-eap-7.4/modules:/usr/lib/phoenix/phoenix-hbase-compat-2.4.1-5.1.2.jar:/usr/lib/phoenix/*
Unfortunately, I still get the same error. What can I do to fix it?
why not adding the jar in your war ? otherwise you need to add a dependency on that module in your war

I've a gradle project which uses hibernate > 4 . If I run my war file in Apache tomcat, I don't get any error. But when I'm deploying it in Wildfly 8.2 , I get the following exception

I just added a exclude in my Gradle file like
runtime.exclude group: "dom4j"
Now when I run gradle build, dom4j.jar is not created in the war file. Now I can run my deploy and run my project successfully on Wildfly 8.2 without any error. But the real problem starts here.
One of the feature in my project is that, it'll copy a file.xlsm to anotherfile.xlsm where I'm using jars like Apache Poi for those purposes. Here, Apache Poi is trying to access a method in dom4j.jar during file processing, it results in the following error
18:40:13,261 ERROR [io.undertow.request] (default task-29) UT005023: Exception handling request to /app/parentPath/myAction: org.springframework.web.util.NestedSe

.RELEASE]
Any ideas how I can permanently use dom4j.jar inside my classpath? I've searched for many question and most of them suggested to remove dom4j from classpath. I do successfully run my program by removing it from classpath but it results in the above error during excel file processing. Wasted more than a day on this..!! IS it possible to include dom4j.jar in my classpath?
Update:
I've done a little trick in MANIFEST.MF file.
I've opened
mywar.war > META-INF > MANIFEST.MF
and added
Dependencies: org.dom4j export
at the end of the file and saved it. So if I deploy my war file, I'm successfully running it without any error.
Can someone explain where I've to add this kind of property in my src/ file so that it will be automatcially added to MANIFEST.MF after gradle build..
This exception on wildfly usually occurs when you include a hibernate lib in your war that's different from the wildfly one, since you are deploying to wildfly it already include hibernate so you can set you live as provided in gradle aka compileProvided and deploy without exporting the dependence.
If you still got the same error try declaring the hibernate dependency on manifest but keep the lib as provided it should work fine.
I had this same problem and i know how frustrating this one can be. I was able to resolve this problem. see my answer here. Hope this help

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException for a class in external JAR

I have a maven project in Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers.
When running Tomcat, I'm getting an error for a class that I can see that I have included.
My question is - do I have to add these JARs to an additional place because of Tomcat Apache?

And here is the class in my Library:
UPDATE:
My Web Deployment Assembly looks like:
The issue you are seeing is due to the fact that tomcat is looking at the wrong directory. It is currently most likely pointed at your src/main/webapp directory of your project. This does not jive with how maven works. Maven downloads the dependencies, but will only include them in the target build. You need to have the tomcat server look at target/myapp-0.0.1, or build to a war and deploy that way. The easiest solution as of now, would be for you to use the tomcat plugin. After setting it up, you can use an imbedded server, and just use the following command 'mvn tomcat:run'.
Maven Tomcat Plugin Docs
UPDATE:
I looked at the properties settings, and you should actually be able to edit the "Web Deployment Assembly" settings for your project (under project properties). Check screenshot for how I have mine setup. Notice how Maven Dependencies is mapped.

Vaadin GWT compilation fails: nocache.js file not found

Whenever i compile my widgetset using the eclipse compilation tool (plugin) and maven install. The tomcat server cannot find this file even though it's placed right under my VAADIN/themes/widgetsets folder?
The error i get isnt very helpful:
Feb 20, 2012 7:20:47 PM com.vaadin.terminal.gwt.server.AbstractApplicationServlet serveStaticResourcesInVAADIN
INFO: Requested resource [VAADIN/widgetsets/org.bixin.dugsi.web.DugsiManagerWidgetset.gwt.xml/org.bixin.dugsi.web.DugsiManagerWidgetset.gwt.xml.nocache.js] not found from filesystem or through class loader. Add widgetset and/or theme JAR to your classpath or add files to WebContent/VAADIN folder.
EDIT:
if anyone else noticed this, the file nocache.js is located in VAADIN/widgetsets/org.bixin.dugsi.web.DugsiManagerWidgetset but the server is looking in
VAADIN/widgetsets/org.bixin.dugsi.web.DugsiManagerWidgetset.gwt.xml/
it added .gwt.xml to file directory for some reason? how can i fix this
How can i refresh tomcat within eclipse?
Have you checked that the .gwt.xml postfix is not in your web.xml. It should be:
<init-param>
<description>Application widgetset</description>
<param-name>widgetset</param-name>
<param-value>org.bixin.dugsi.web.DugsiManagerWidgetset</param-value>
</init-param>
You can see detailed Vaadin compilation command on the first few lines of console output by enabling "verbose compilation output" on Properties -> Vaadin section. Your file may be located in wrong place other than specified in verbose compilation command.
Also, your related file may be located in a directory which has space characters. This may be an error for the compiler.
Error may be caused of another unrelated item too. Probably you can find the real cause by examining verbose compilation output.

Check your web.xml within your WAR, there is a servlet and servlet-mapping for the Oracle help files and this servlet most likely.
Comment out those.
I received the same error as "failed to preload on startup in Web application:".
Below is how I am able to resolve the error.
in your web.xml, check if following property is present
<load-on-startup>0</load-on-startup>
this property is to load your bundled artifacts during the server restart itself. This was the cause of the issue because there were some jar file which weblogic server required to load before the loading of our bundled artifacts. Now since server is not yet started completely and all the libraries required to our application is not yet loaded, hence server is throwing "failed to preload on startup in Web application:".
The solution to this is remove load-on-startup from web.xml and That's it!!
