I've simplified a layer in QGIS but all the points are selected afterwards (or have special lines for other reasons), making it really difficult to see the results. I've tried using the normal selection tool to deselect these but it has no effect.
So is there a way to get rid of the red "selections"?
I see the answer now.
The red lines indicate it's in editing mode. To turn off, select the editing (pencil) icon on the digitizing toolbar.
To turn on the digitizing toolbar, go to View > Toolbars > Digitizing.

I am seeing the following panel in the result grid.
Based on the research I've done, for many people this panel is docked. However, in my application it's hidden then displayed upon hovering in that area. This has become very annoying because it's hard to use the scrollbar there.
I've looked all over in the preferences and toolbars but can't find a way to disable it.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of it altogether or make it static?

I'm new to Eclipse. One of the things I like most about it is the fantastic indexing, and the symbols/function outline at the right. One of the things I like least about it is how small the code area is due to all of the side-bars (one each in Eclipse CDT at the left, right, and bottom makes the code area quite small).
Is there a quick way to toggle between hiding and showing the sidebars?
After some tinkering around I accidentally discovered it! Just double-click on your open file-name tab and it will maximize to full-screen. Double-click again to toggle it back to your normal "perspective". This applies to the left, right, and bottom sidebars too: just double-click on any of their tabs and they will maximize. Do it again to toggle back to normal size.
This is driving me mad! I love the new layout options in Word 2013, but when a callout gets to a certain size the icon for it obscures the end of the arrow, and you can't move the arrow:
Don't suppose anyone knows either how to get rid of the icon, how to click and drag on the yellow end of the arrow, or how to stop the icon appearing in the first place?

Here are two answers that helped me. The second option gets rid of the floating Layout Options button, but at the cost of disabling some features of Word 2013.

It might help to increase the zoom (use the slider at the right end of the status bar) while you work with the picture.

Is the document in Compatibility Mode (shown by those words appearing in the title bar along with the document name)? If that's the case, click File and then click the Convert button. That will make the Layout Options button appear when a picture is selected, as well as turning on other features that are available only in the 2013 format. When you save, the document file will change to the .docx extension.
I know the second quote is about turning the Layout Options button on, but it works backwards, too. I saved my file as a *.doc instead of a *.docx and the floating button went away.
When you're finished editing your callouts, you can save it again as a *.docx.
One method that helped me was to flip horizontal, change the leader position, then flip back. That way the leader line is temporarily on the opposite side of the layout button, and both handles of the leader line are accessible, then can flip back. It is an extra step, but is another alternative.
In an attempt to automate this to quickly flip the object back and forth, I couldn't find a macro command to make a shortcut, or anything under Customize Ribbon with custom Keyboard Shortcuts to Flip Horizontal (MoreRotationOption opens up a dialog which does not give an option to flip).
The Flip Horizontal command could be called by pressing ALT JD (Format) AY (Rotate Objects) H (Horizontal) when the object is selected...
The best I could do was to add Rotate Objects to the Quick Access Toolbar, then the Flip Horizontal command could be called by pressing ALT # (whatever number you assign) H (Horizontal) which is three keystrokes.
I'm using the Kepler CDT release (4.3.1) of Eclipse. When I click on anything in the Outline view, the corresponding editor view is reduced to showing just that item. If I click on a variable, I get a single line with just that variable. The Edit->Expand Selection options are all dimmed out. Hitting Shift-Alt-Up Arrow just moves me up to the previous item in the outline view. If I change editor tabs and come back then the Expand Selection options enable and I can manually hit Shift-Alt-Up Arrow a number of times to make the entire file visible again but clicking on anything in the outline view again will just reduce the view. Is there some new setting in Kepler that will make outline stop doing this?
Turns out the feature for Show Source of Selected Element Only was turned on. In Kepler the toolbar button for this is not visible. Even searching under quick access doesn't turn it up so it's somewhat of a puzzle how it could have been turned on. I actually thought maybe it had been removed from Kepler.
In the Customize Perspective dialog under the Tool Bar Visibility tab. In the Tool Bar Structure section I opened the area for Editor Presentation. I noticed there was actually a check next to the box for Show Source of Selected Element Only. However, it wasn't visible in the toolbar (a bug I've seen before in Eclipse) so I unchecked it and checked it. Then I exited the dialog. Now the button showed up on the toolbar. I then toggled the feature on and then off. Now clicking in the outline view works correctly.just moves to the correct spot.
There used to be line markers on the right-hand side of the window (next to the scroll bar) which marked occurrences of variables or other things (such as TODO's or compiler errors). They looked liked color-coded dashes. I could click on a marker and it would jump to that occurrence of the variable in my code. Or, I could click anywhere in the bar and it would jump to its relative vertical location in the file.
I'm not sure what I did, but the markers disappeared and I can't find a setting to bring them back. Does anybody know how I can re-enable them?
Also, "Mark Occurrences" is enabled in my editor, and variable occurrences are properly highlighted in my code as normal when I have a variable selected.
