For an project, I have extended the TYPO3 TCA with a extra extension, named "project_extends". Now, I have all new TCA Objects - sorted in tabs - on every Treepoint/Contentpage, to configurate some fluid templates or extensions.
For example: I have three tabs, named "Tab1","Tab2" and "Tab3".
Now I want to display Tab1 and Tab3 at the second tree-level of the contentpages, but not at level one.
I don't found a understandable solution via google & co and hope here of helpful solutions :)
That's simple, to hide whole tab you just need to disable ALL fields which are visible on it.
To do this open page properties, find Page TSconfig field and for each field you want to disable add something like this:
TCEFORM.tt_content.list_type.disabled = 1
in this sample tt_content is a required table and list_type is the field. Normally (without above config) it should be visible as only field on the Plugin tab when inserting TT content with type Insert Plugin , however while you disabled it will be hidden and also tab will disappear.
Tip: you can recognize these values using some browser inspection tool, i.e. FireBug of Firefox.

In TYPO3 6.2 the Special Menu "Related pages (based on keywords)", shows a list of the selected page and all other pages, which have one or more keywords, entered in the page properties, in common.
The problem is that my site has lots of pages with the same keywords and hence in some pages the number of displayed links is excessive.
The question is how could I limit the number of displayed links?
As long as the menu is generated by typoscript, which is the case for TYPO3 6.2, you could configure the menu generation like any other typoscript menu object.
Any menu object has the property maxItems (see manual ). You need to look for the definition of the content elements which should be beneath tt_content:
tt_content.menu.20.6.maxItems = 10
For newer TYPO3 versions the place of TS-defined CEs has changed up to the realisation of CEs by fluid. But still the property maxItems is available.
I have a typo3 server and using the mask extension. When an editor creates a new mask element, there isnt a title in the list view. Its always "no title":
I checked the database and found the titles in the db in the field: tt_content.header but no way to set them automatically oder manually by an editor. Anyone have an idea how the title can be set automatically? Oder manually by an editor?
ext:mask has the option to reuse existing fields of tt_content for new kinds of content elements (CEs). use it to get the bonus of better interoperability with TYPO3.
TYPO3 has a logic how to show records (content elements) in the backend. one of it is the usage of the fields header and description. if you reuse these fields your CEs will look like others automatically.
If you use other fields you need to declare your fields for usage AND in case you change the kind of a CE from your kind to e.g. TEXT with Media the header stays.
Especially header is handled in the layout/partial of FSC or CSC global for any kind of CE. if the handling/rendering is changed (e.g. special layout) in an installation your CEs need special effort if they have their own building of the header.
Try to use the same fields as existing CEs and your life can be easier.
I'm having the same issue, but I found a way around it for the meantime. I edit the mask element and chenge its type to something elseโlike Textโwhere I can set the title. After typing the title I save it, then change back to mask element and save again. This works by me without losing the content of the mask element. This way I can see the title in typo3 backend when I view as list or page or add content from another page. As I said, it doesn't solve the problem, but can help until there is a proper solution.
EDIT
I've just found another solution. You can add the title field to en existing mask element. To do it, go to ADMIN TOOLS > Mask, click your mask element to edit it. Add a new item by dragging the ๐ฆ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด item (the one on top of the list of available items) to the right where your items are. Then in General under ๐๐ต๐ผ๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฒ๐น๐ฑ dropdown choose an ๐๐
๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด named:
๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ: (๐ต๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ)
Save, close, go to your page to add your title. This still doesn't add the title field automatically to all mask elements, but it is a step forward.
If anywhere, you should be able to set a static title automatically in your page tsconfig. You could to something like
mod.wizards.newContentElement.wizardItems.mask.elements.[title of your mask element].tt_content_defValues {
header = My Awesome title
}
Personally, I usually give every mask element a header field and ask content editors to fill it in.
See also this discussion on Mask elements and backend titles.
Hope, this helps.
We would like to alter the appearance of the "Insert/Edit Table" dialog in TinyMCE. Presently the dialog displays fields which manage attributes that are deprecated in HTML5. For instance, the border attribute is considered obsolete.
Now, I can successfully remove the border attribute from the rendered markup, by extending a technique presented here:
http://krompaco.nu/2010/05/alter-default-initoptions-for-tinymce-in-episerver-6/
But the "Insert/Edit Table" dialog still presents a "Border" field when we launch the table dialog from the TinyMCE menu button. The toolbar option for TinyMCE enables programmers to control the actual buttons that get displayed by the editor.
https://www.tinymce.com/docs/configure/editor-appearance/#toolbarn
We still want to display the Table button, but want to remove some of the deprecated fields from that dialog. How can we do this?
We are using the EpiServer CMS (versions 8-10) which employs TinyMCE version 3.3.9.3. Thanks for your help.
You could probably use virtualPathMappings. I think they're still supported in CMS8-10.
This means you have to create a copy of the aspx or ascx file with the dialog in it. Have the file Inherit="" from EPiServer code and change the markup how you want and then add the below configuration in section of web.config:
<virtualPathMappings>
<add url="~/yourprefix/CMS/Edit/LinkDialogName.ascx" mappedUrl="~/YourProjectFolder/LinkDialogName.ascx" />
</virtualPathMappings>
This is a bit of a hack however.
In TYPO3 6.x, I have a sysfolder where I would like to enable the "abstract" and "media" fields in the Backend page settings. How can this be done?
PS The reason for is that I need their contents cascading to subpages. But the sysfolder/page they're on can't be displayed in the FE, so I want to prevent editors from adding content.
The easiest workaround without manipulating the TypoScript (so it can be clicked-out in 5 seconds) is creating a Shortcut instead of SysFolder, it will behave similar, but you'll keep the page typical fields. Theoretically SysFolders shouldn't be used for storing subpages therefore Shortcuts are more appropriate
Create a Shortcut page type and set its mode to First subpage of selected/current page
Hide this page in menus
If using RealURL check the Exclude from speaking URL checkbox.
Create subpages of that.
That's all
I am very new in Typo3 world (I came from Joomla and WordPress) and I have some doubts related a thing that has been requested by a customer that use Typo3 for its site
He ask me to create some colored boxes into a specific page. Each of these boxes simply must contain text or links.
How can I do this?
I am thinking that I can solve in the following way (but I have not idea if this is a GOOD solution):
In the backend I go in the Page section and I open the settings related to the page that I have to modify
Here I have 3 columns (Left, Normal, Right) and for example I add a NEW Regular Text Element into this central column
Now appear to me the wysiwyg editor, so I click on the Toggle text mode icon and I pass from the wysiwyg mode to the pure HTML editor's mode and now I will create some div tags (settings the CSS settings for the background color and the dimension) that rappresent my boxes (and into these div I put their textual contents).
Is it a possible solution or is it a bad solution?
Tnx
Andrea
You may either use the RTE typoscript config to add some new paragraph styles, which will make the boxes or use the section_frame field in tt_content, a field called "frame" in the backend when you edit a content record. Both solutions would just need some typoscript (which you will deal with very often in the TYPO3 world) and CSS code.
If you need some more structure in the backend, there is also an extension for that called multicolumn. If you just need "more" columns in the backend (in combination with backend layouts) to achieve different looks, this can also be done by adding some typoscript config. To give you a more precise recommendation, some sort of scribble or design screenshot of what you want would be nice.
