I have researched on line for sample code that shows two things, 1 how to trigger a macro to run when scanning a barcode and the string ends with an "enter" key, and how to use the scanned data to search for and update a row in a worksheet.
The USB scanner sends data to any application as if it is keyboard input and is terminated with an Enter key.
I want to scan in a number and then when the enter key is detected have the program "lookup" the number in a master data sheet and insert the current date/time into a cell that is 5 cells to the right of the cell that has the data that was matched.
Thank you for any help.
You can create form in Excel and set procedure
Private Sub UserForm_KeyDown(ByVal KeyCode As MSForms.ReturnInteger, ByVal Shift As Integer)
When key will be pressed you'll get KeyCode. Even on "Enter" key.
So you just accumulate stream from scanner until it'll be Enter (KeyCode 13 or 10 maybe, you can experiment), and then you work with the stream you got.

Good day,
I have component tFileInputRegex and tFlowToIterate to read data from a text file, I saw there are number of row record being process as follow:
Which is 3412 rows, may I know how can I get this value in tJava_2 ?
currently I am using _NB_LINE but getting null:
System.out.println("total is " + (Integer)globalMap.get("tFileInputRegex_1_NB_LINE"));
System.out.println("total2 is " + (Integer)globalMap.get("tFlowToIterate_2_NB_LINE"));
In your example, tJava_2 executes within the iteration, i.e. once for each row. In that component, you can use globalMap.get("tFlowToIterate_2_CURRENT_ITERATION").toString() to get the number of rows processed so far. Please note that instead of casting it to Integer you need to convert it to a string as shown above in order to output it the way you do.
If you need the total number of rows, you can use globalMap.get("tFileInputRegex_1_NB_LINE").toString() - but it is only available after the end of the loop, which means the component where you access it needs to be connected to tFileInputRegex_1 via OnSubjobOk trigger.
I have two Coldfusion templates (getdata.cfm and generate.cfm). The first template getdata.cfm will retrieve from a database with a query, in addition to other tasks. It will retrieve exactly 16 rows of data and each row will have 8 fields. Such as this:
<cfquery datasource="xyz name="lista">
SELECT n1,n2,n3,n4,n5,n6,n7,n8
FROM atable
WHERE product = "abc"
ORDER BY date DESC LIMIT 16
</cfquery>
The second template will generate some random numbers and compare them against these 16 rows. There is a Refresh button on the second template to regenerate the numbers. This is how I would like it to work.
However, right now the only way for it to work is having the database <cfquery> in the second template, generate.cfm That means every time I press Refresh, it will access the database, retrieve the same 16 rows every time, and generate the random numbers. This is not ideal. Because the 16 rows are the same, it makes no sense to retrieve them every time a new set of random numbers get generated. It would be best to get them once, in the first template and somehow pass them to the second template. The 16 sets of numbers will need to be displayed on the screen at all times. The matched and unmatched numbers need to be shown.
How can I pass the whole query result from the first template to the second one without having to pass the 16 records as 16 lists via the form as form fields? Is this even possible? Thanks in advance.
Generate a set of random numbers.
Compare those numbers against a static set of data.
Repeat.
Do you need to do the comparison in the application (CFML) code? Can you generate the set of random numbers and send them to the DB as part of the query in a single request? That way, you get the records from the DB that match your set of numbers and not all 16.
Then every refresh would send the new set of random numbers to the DB, returning only the relevant data.
Alternately, you can use cfquery with the cachedWithin attribute in order to store the results of the query into memory for a specific amount of time while refreshing your random set of numbers.

Big question: How can I make Access automatically fill in a cell in a form based on previously entered data?
I need to enter leave details for members of staff. I tend to enter these by date, and in one to two week chunks. Is there a way to have the next new record automatically fill in the date part of the record with the previously entered one?
Table structure
Staff: StaffID, Name
Absences: ID, StaffID, Dateaway, OtherDetails
I want it to automatically fill in DateAway with the entry of the row above it, or the previously entered row, as I will enter say 10 dates in a fortnight, but 50 entries over those dates. I enter them chronologically, and after the fact (So just defaulting to TODAY() won't work).
There's a shortcut Ctrl+' that does pretty much what I need, wondering if there's a way to do that with the generation of a new record.
You have to be careful with this. If your form is bound to a table/query, you're going to insert a junk record every time you're done with the form. However, if it's unbound you can do this using DMAX, in the After Insert event of the form.
Private Sub Form_AfterInsert()
txtDateaway.Text = DMax("Dateaway", "Absences", "StaffID = " & Me.txtStaffID)
End Sub
This is, of course, assuming your Dateaway field on your form is called txtDateaway and your StaffID field is called txtStaffID.
I am working with a wizard-generated Tabular Form column that needs to display an icon which launches a Javascript function and pass the row value into the function when clicked. The function launches a popUp2 window which sets the values of other fields on that row. So the row number is crucial, but it is always 0 for newly-created rows (in APEX 4.0.0.00.46). I managed to solve that problem by storing the rowNum of new rows into my Updated By column during AddRow.
What I have now is an Updated By column ("Lookup" Heading) which stores the row number of new rows, has onClick="javascript:usePopup(this);" in the Element Attributes which launches the popUp window function, and then gets any values under 2 digits wiped before submit. This fills the correct fields and submits to the table with no problem.
I can't keep using the Updated By column for this function, though. There are currently reports running on this table, so I can't add a new column to the table. I need a dummy column to display the icon, temporarily store the Row Number of newly created rows, and not mess up the MRU. It is f08, so the value of f08_0005 needs to be 0005. I tried making a null column with
select
"FUEL_USAGE_DETAIL_ID", ...
"EXPENSE_TO_PROJECT",
"EXPENSE_TO_TASK",
NULL Lookup,
"UPDATED_BY",
"PROVIDER"
from "#OWNER#"."FUEL_USAGE_DETAIL"
but that can't submit. I get the Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "01A949FAF0B3A91914ECACCDC9BBA9E6", item checksum = "B6ADF86455B14EF691B2AFB314926A0D".
Please help me create a null column to display this icon, store the row number of all the rows (including the brand new rows), and not mess up the MRU. If you need pictures of what I have and what I need, see my other thread: https://community.oracle.com/thread/3649771 Thank you!
Fractal65,
Do not add any null column in tabular form.
just go to>>Edit tabular form attribute make following change
you will get it position as f02_000X (x-rownum)
now uou can use this rownum value in javascript or anything.
Hope this helps.
I had a similar error with my last project. Do you have a none displayed row selector? Please try to delete it to see if it will work.
I have a combo box which is of a lookup type, i.e., I've selected the source to be a column from a table and am storing the selected value in another table. The table which I am looking up has another column and I need the value in this column to be displayed in a text box and each time I change the value in the combo box, I need the corresponding value to be displayed in the text box. How can I do this? What I have done so far is to write a Select query that selects the appropriate column based on the combo box's value. Is there a more decent way of doing this? Please help me!
Make the source of the combo box to your 2 fields e.g. SELECT id, name FROM Customers
Make sure you set the Column Count property of the combo to 2, accordingly.
Then make you unbound text box source equal to =MyCombo.Column(1) (from memory, this Column is zero based).
That's it, zero code required.
It's nicer to use an event of the combo box e.g. onChange, so when a selection is made the event sets the value of the text box.
me!txtTextBox1 = me!cboComboBox1.column(1)
That way it will work everytime.
You could also use a button with onClick etc. but the choice is yours (and as mentioned in the previous post, alter the column number based on its row source with 0 being the first.
After reading the question and answers I tried the following, and it seems to work well (so far):
In order to display more than one column of a combobox selection, I have resorted to the following:
Place a textbox over the combobox,
Size it by sampling other fields, so that it covers the text frame of the combobox.
I have purposely have left a small space to the right of the NEW textbox to indicate that it
Is NOT part of the combobox.
In the Control Source for the textbox enter the expression below:
=[DefaultAcct].[Column](1) & " " & [DefaultAcct].[Column](2)
Then, in the ‘onchange’ event of the combobox, set focus to the textbox.
Private Sub DefaultAcct_Change()
txtConcatenate1.SetFocus
End Sub
