Howto use PMD plugin in Eclpise 4.3 running on Java 8 - eclipse

PDM brings xerces jar which is not compatible with java 8 - this has been reported here: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=432118
This is the PMD plugin that I wouyld like to use: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pmd/files/pmd-eclipse/update-site/
Is there a way to install PMD in eclipse 4.3/4.4 on java 8?

https://sourceforge.net/p/pmd/bugs/1210/ shows current status of the fix (closed), and has the repository location to install the current snapshot version, and says the fix will be released in 4.0.4. I added the updatesite to my install locations and installed the snapshot (dated 7/29), now I have my PMD preferences/menus/perspective back in Luna 4.4 running JDK8. Thanks so much for the trunk tip.

This is a PMD bug - they have already fixed it in trunk, I've tested it and it works fine. The problem was, that it had transitive dependency to old xerces lib.

Had PMD plugin installation problem with Eclipse Luna 4.4.2 when I installed PMD directly from Eclipse marketplace.
To solve this,
I uninstalled the plugin and used the following link to choose 4.4 eclipse PMD plugin.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pmd/files/pmd-eclipse/update-site/
It worked!

This is the Solution:
If you have previously installed a version of the PMD Eclipse plugin prior to November 2012, then you should remove/uninstall it first. To install the PMD for Eclipse plugin:
In Eclipse, click on Help -> Install New Software...
Click on Add..
Enter the following:
Name: PMD for Eclipse Update Site
URL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pmd/files/pmd-eclipse/update-site/
and click OK.
You should see PMD for Eclipse 4. Select the checkbox next to it and click Next >.
You'll need to accept the license and confirm you want to install a plugin that is not digitally signed. Go ahead and install it anyway.
Restart eclipse

Is the Eclipse SonarQube plugin compatible with Eclipse Mars?

I cannot install SonarQube plugins in Eclipse Mars (tested with Java, RCP and Modeling versions).
When I search for SonarQube in 'Help' / 'Eclipse Marketplace' then the result list is empty. I can click at the link 'Browse for more solutions' which opens the marketplace site on the internet. There, I see SonarQube with the link 'Install' but when I click on it I get the error "The following solutions (SonarQube) are not compatible with this version of Eclipse"!
Any ideas how the problem can be solved?
Eclipse SonarQube plugin 3.4 is definitely compatible with Eclipse Mars.
Unfortunately, you cannot install it from the Eclipse Marketplace - probably because we need to update the compatibility information there. As mentionned by Freddy in his comment, SONARCLIPS-446 was created for this purpose.
Meanwhile, please follow the instructions described on "Install SonarQube in Eclipse" to manually install the plugin.
UPDATE July 21rst, 2015: the Marketplace has been updated so anybody using Mars can install the plugin through the Marketplace.
I'm sorry, but SonarQube is not really compatible.
If you install SonarQube 3.4.0 from marketplace to a brand new mars (eclipse-jee-mars-R-win32-x86_64.zip) and then start the eclispe with -clean, the menuitem marketplace is gone.
Seems that there are not some other plugins don't match.

Unable to install Groovy/Grails Tool Suite (GGTS) for Eclipse

Am trying to install Groovy/Grails Tool Suite (GGTS) for Eclipse into my Eclipse installation.
version of Eclipse installed:
Version: Luna Service Release 1a (4.4.1) - Windows 32-bit.
When I attempt to install ggts from the eclipse marketplace either by using the Eclipse Marketplace
menu option or by using the ggts drag to install button, the following window/error message is
obtained after selecting Confirm:
The following solutions are not available Groovy/Grails Tool Suite (GGTS) for Eclipse 3.6.4.RELEASE,
Proceed with the installation anyways?
How/can it be installed?
Thanks.
My bad. I forgot to put in the right (and versioned) update site into the Marketplace entry definition after the 3.7.0 release went out. This is fixed now. You should be able to install GGTS from the Marketplace again. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for pointing me at this here.
Keep in mind that there is no new GGTS version that is compatible with Eclipse Mars. The last version is 3.6.4 and is compatible with Eclipse 4.4 and previous versions.

Maven for Eclipse 1.5.0 plugin cannot be installed under Kepler

I downloaded Eclipse Kepler and tried to install M2Eclipse from its update site.
After selecting Maven Integration for Eclipse, I clicked Next and got the following error:
Missing requirement: Maven Integration for Eclipse 1.5.0.20140606-0033 (org.eclipse.m2e.core 1.5.0.20140606-0033) requires 'bundle com.google.guava [14.0.1,16.0.0)' but it could not be found
So I searched through the internet to find out how to install the Guava Eclipse plugin. Some say it's from the Eclipse marketplace, but it cannot be downloaded. I downloaded the binary and tried to copy it to Eclipse's plugin directory. Still the same result.
cp ~/Downloads/guava-16.0.1.jar /Applications/eclipse/plugins/com.google.guava_16.0.1.v1234.jar
How do I install the m2e plugin for Kepler?
m2e 1.5.0 requires Eclipse Luna. It will not work with Kepler or Indigo. (thanks to #HDave for the link)
So you have to use an older version of m2e under Kepler.
During installation, uncheck "Show only the latest versions of available software". Then only check the 1.4.1 version or lower version in the candidate list. It doesn't require the Guava dependency.
Make sure you have the Luna repository in "Available Software Sites".
You can add it in : Help -> Install New Software...
Then in the "Work with" input, you type http://download.eclipse.org/releases/luna/ and press enter.
After that, you should be able to install m2e with http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases/
You can find Guava 15 on Orbit project - "repository of bundled versions of third party libraries that are approved for use in one or more Eclipse projects". You can also directly add the Orbit project update site to your kepler installation and you'll be able to update m2e
What has helped me for Juno release is adding http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases/1.3/ as plugin update site. The version of Maven for Eclipse was 1.3 instead of 1.5 but, for me, this differrence was less principal than the absence of extra dependencies and extra update sites, especially that of the newer version of IDE itself.
Do you necessarily need version 1.5 or 1.3 also should be good?
STEPS TO INSTALL MAVEN (in Eclipse):
Maven Eclipse plugin installation step by step:
Open Eclipse IDE
Click Help -> Install New Software...
Uncheck "Show only the latest versions of available software"
Click Add button at top right corner
At pop up: fill up Name as "M2Eclipse" and Location as"http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases"
Check only one 1.4.1 Version.
Now click OK After that installation would be started.
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases
This URL does not work.
http://download.eclipse.org/technology/m2e/releases/1.3/
This one can work.

Not able to install PMD in Eclipse Kepler

I have installed PMD in Eclipse Kepler using Eclipse market place.
But I am unable to access it after the installation.
When I go to Window → Preferences and search for PMD, I get no results.
Is there any other plugin available for source code cleanup?
Or: What needs to be done to install PMD in Kepler?
Thanks
I found the PMD plugin that installs through Eclipse Marketplace to be harder to use than the standalone one. Install available by an Eclipse update site here.
I've tried all these suggestions and now i have it working in Kepler; here's how to do it:
I made sure my Eclipse Kepler instance was using Java 7--it was.
The link from the eclipse marketplace did not work. It would show a PMD option for the individual projects properties, but there were no rules to select from. Also the main workspace preferences were not showing up.
I had to install it using this update site, as Jeanne Boyarsky mentioned:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pmd/files/pmd-eclipse/update-site/
Restart Kepler.
The PMD option now shows up in the Windows->Preferences->PMD
The PMD project menu now shows up when right clicking on the project.
The install information on the web site for this plugin http://acanda.github.io/eclipse-pmd/getting-started.html says you must open the Properties for a project and look at the PMD tab.
If you've installed the PMD plug-in using the Eclipse market place then you're using eclipse-pmd which requires Eclipse to run on a JVM version 7 or later. If you're running Eclipse on a JVM version 6 or earlier and you're using eclipse-pmd 0.7 or earlier the PMD property page won't be visible.
To solve this problem you have to run Eclipse on a JVM version 7 or later. To change the JVM on which Eclipse runs you have to set the parameter -vm in your eclipse.ini accordingly. The Eclipse Wiki explains how to specify the JVM.
