Spark Streaming into HBase with filtering logic - scala

I have been trying to understand how spark streaming and hbase connect, but have not been successful. What I am trying to do is given a spark stream, process that stream and store the results in an hbase table. So far this is what I have:

I am currently running the above code in spark-shell. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

I also double checked the hbase table, just in case, and nothing new is written in there.
I am running nc -lk 9999 on another terminal to feed in data into the spark-shell for testing.

With help from users on the spark user group, I was able to figure out how to get this to work. It looks like I needed to wrap my streaming, mapping and foreach call around a serializable object:

Seems to be a typical antipattern.

Error while running the spark scala code to do bulk load

I am using the following code in REPL to create hfiles and to the bulk load into hbase.I used the same code and done the spark-submit it was working fine with no errors but when i run it in REPL it is throwing the error

The error is thrown when i tried to create the rdd.I have used the same code in spark-submit it was working fine.
Issue in

ImmutableBytesWritable is not serializable, and located outside "flatMap" function. Please check exception full stack trace.
You can move mentioned statement inside "flatMap" function, at least for check.

Avoid multiple connections to mongoDB from spark streaming

We developed a spark streaming application that sources data from kafka and writes to mongoDB. We are noticing performance implications while creating connections inside foreachRDD on the input DStream. The spark streaming application does a few validations before inserting into mongoDB. We are exploring options to avoid connecting to mongoDB for each message that is processed, rather we desire to process all messages within one batch interval at once. Following is the simplified version of the spark streaming application. One of the things we did is append all the messages to a dataframe and try inserting the contents of that dataframe outside of the foreachRDD. But when we run this application, the code that writes dataframe to mongoDB does not get executed.
Please note that I commented out a part of the code inside foreachRDD which we used to insert each message into mongoDB. Existing approach is very slow as we are inserting one message at a time. Any suggestions on performance improvement is much appreciated.

It sounds like you would want to reduce the number of connections to mongodb, for this purpose, you must use foreachPartition in code when you serve connection do mongodb see spec, the code will look like this:

Unable to serialize SparkContext in foreachRDD

I am trying to save the streaming data to cassandra from Kafka. I am able to read and parse the data but when I call below lines to save the data i am getting a Task not Serializable Exception. SparkContext isn't serializable, you can't use it inside foreachRDD, and from the use of your graph you don't need it. Instead, you can simply map over each RDD, parse out the relevant data and save that new RDD to cassandra:

You can not call sc.parallelize within a function passed to foreachPartition - that function would have to be serialized and sent to each executor, and SparkContext is (intentionally) not serializable (it should only reside within the Driver application, not the executor).

spark java.io.NotSerializableException: org.apache.spark.SparkContext

I'm try to implement to check exist record by received message from kafka in spark by spark streaming, now when i run RunReadLogByKafka object, there is a NotSerializableException for SparkContext was throwed, i google it, but i still don't know how to fix it, Could anyone suggest me how to rewrite it? thanks in advance.

Object you get as an argument in foreachRDD is a standard Spark RDD so you have to obey exactly the same rules as usual including no nested actions or transformations and no access to the SparkContext. It is not exactly clear what you try to achieve (It doesn't look like ReadLogByKafka.func is doing anything useful) but I am guess you're looking for some kind of join.

Wiki xml parser - org.apache.spark.SparkException: Task not serializable

I am newbie to both scala and spark, and trying some of the tutorials, this one is from Advanced Analytics with Spark. The following code is supposed to work:

The first guess which comes to mind is that: all your code is wrapped in the object where SparkContext is defined. Spark tries to serialize this object to transfer wikiXmlToPlainText function to nodes. Try to create different object with the only one function wikiXmlToPlainText.
